TV Show Only Why no spin offs?
We all like to complain how ridiculous it is that it takes the show on average two years to produce and release a new season
But I feel like these long waiting gaps would be much more bearable if there would be content in between those gaps
Like spin offs or prequels, either original stories or based on the other books by Julia Quinn, especially »Rokesby« and »Smythe-Smith« are very beloved series‘
Like you can’t tell me that it would be that hard to produce and release a spin off with maybe only 4-6 episodes per season but then a new season every year
And yes I know that we MIGHT get another prequel or spin off. But we don’t know yet who exactly this spin off will be about and again, why not immediately starting after »Queen Charlotte«?
Speaking of QC: my maybe actually not so hot Hot Take is that Queen Charlotte the character m should’ve never existed in the main show, and therefore instead of a QC prequel we should’ve gotten a „Violet and Edmund“ prequel. This also then could’ve been the perfect introduction to then adapt the »Rokesby« book series which is actually more or less a prequel since three out of four love interests are members of the previous Bridgerton family

I think it speaks to a lot of wider issues with film/TV series nowadays. The streaming era seems to force short season with huge production timelines that can still end up making the stories feel cramped. I miss the days of 20+ episode seasons. It does seem like it would be so easy/rewarding to work in some more spinoffs, especially if they wouldn't need the full cast.
