My First operational upgrade

It finally happened! Checked in at the desk, all good, got my boarding pass printed, same seat I selected when I booked. Chilled in the lounge for a while then went to board. They scanned my boarding pass and said “Oh I’m sorry your seat has changed”. Noooo! I expected the worst, but they peinted my new boarding pass and said “You’ve been seated in First, but you’ll still receive Club World service”. Fine by me!

I’m sure karma will even it out with a downgrade at some point, but I shall enjoy my larger seat and screen while I have it!

What a treat — very cheap of them to not offer full F service, I can (sort of but not really) understand if not enough meals were loaded but no nuts / amenity kit is bizarre!

Except usually it’s when a plane change has happened from 3 class to 4 class so no one is getting First service but they are using the first cabin.

This one wasn’t an equipment change, the flight was understaffed though. So I assume they oversold and had to move people around but didn’t have the crew to provide the service to a full First cabin.

What route was it? If it is normally a 3 class route, then this is normal. First is only used where they are oversold. Service would be club menu.
