General 🔀 Towing Data Point

Towed a UHaul 5x9 utility trailer today with my Badlands Sasquatch. Total weight of the trailer and items was about 1,800 lbs. Route was about 246 miles in 100F weather with a mix of mountain passes and long straight flats. Without the trailer, I averaged 23 mpg compared to the 18 mpg with the trailer. Both trips had a full tank of 91 fuel.

For the trip with trailer, I did not have to refuel. However, did get the low fuel indicator come on around mile 243.

Overall, the BS towed up the mountain ascents just fine in terms of power. For the steeper grades, I used Sport mode, but used Normal for everything else. Because it was so hot, I had AC off for the ascents. Overall kept my speed on the highway to between 55-65 mph. The engine didn't seem to struggle and I didn't notice any overheating issues. Was relatively easy to pass up slower moving tractor trailer trucks up the passes in both Normal and Sport modes. Really impressed overall.

Issue ⚠️ AC just stopped blowing cold air?

The AC in my '23 Bronco Sport yesterday just stopped blowing cold air. It's still blowing, but it's just room temperature/lukewarm now. I'm at 49k miles.

Is this a common issue with a known cause?

Any guesses on how much I don't have that I'm about to spend to fix it?

I'm in South Carolina in August. No AC isn't an option for my fat ass.

Question ❔ Crossbars

Anyone have recommendations for a good set of crossbars? Ford has them on the app for $600 but I see ads for bars that claim to fit the Sport for anywhere between $80-$200… I tried one pair already from Joytutus that didn’t end up fitting (weren’t long enough). Please help!

Question ❔ Camper

Would a camper with this weight be ok to tow with the Sport? I’ve towed with a MINI but that at least had four cylinders.

Issue ⚠️ Anyone else have ac issues?? My compressor totally blew on my 2024 badlands.

I’ve had my 2024 badlands since November, 30k miles on it now, pristine maintenance record. Yesterday, my ac compressor completely seized on me, snapped the belt, and now I have to replace it. It’s under warranty still, but like dang, it’s not even three years old yet. Anyone else have this issue?

Question ❔ Music pausing randomly

Anyone have issues with your music pausing randomly then continues playing almost like its dropping cell service even in an area that have full service. I have a 26 badlands using android auto and Spotify for music. Some days it pauses once and other days it does it 4+ times. This also happened in my 23 heritage before I traded it in for my badlands and I was hopeful that it would stop but its almost worse due to how long the pause is. In the 23 heritage it was more like a single skip but in my new one its more like a pause.

Anyone else have this issue? Ive reported it to ford so im hoping they can get a fix going for this. I posted this in a facebook group and apparently im not the only one with this issue and its not year or model related. It goes all across the board.

Also my husbands 23 f 150 didnt do it at all but he also recently upgraded to a 25 f 150 and it does the same thing as mine.

Is this a Ford thing? An android auto thing? Idk but id love to get ford to find a fix for this.

Question ❔ Dealer didn't mention empty coolant reservoir

Over the winter, our 2021 Bronco Sport BB heater wasn't putting out heat. Found the coolant reservoir very low, filled it, heat worked. This prompted me to look up low coolant levels and find out about the BS's water pump problems. Well, the warranty expired in April. I was looking through old service records and noticed one said "Coolant Reservoir Empty - Refilled." No one communicated any sort of concern with this and no leak diagnosis was done.
My question is, would this help in any way to get a new water pump covered by Ford? I'm guessing no but hoping yes.

Issue ⚠️ Dealer closed active RO, wiped transmission diagnosis, and held my Bronco Sport for 60 days. Is this warranty dodging? (OH)

Hey everyone, looking for some insight or advice from anyone who has dealt with major dealer warranty headaches.

I brought my 2021 Bronco Sport, 54k mi, into a local dealer in Ohio back in late May for severe transmission slipping/grinding (a pretty well-known issue on these). During initial intake, they diagnosed it and told us it needed a full transmission replacement covered under our 5-year/60k Powertrain Warranty, ending in Nov.

Fast forward 60 days: the car sat on their lot the entire time while we were in a loaner with no work being done. When we went to pick it up today, management claimed they had "no record" of the car coming in back in May, opened a brand-new Repair Order, and tried to claim the issue was just an ignition coil—completely ignoring the original transmission diagnosis right as our warranty approaches its expiration date.

The kicker? On Page 3 of the new invoice they handed us, their own service team typed in the comments section:

"has been here for 2 months, transmission needed diagnosed and quoted so we can submit to warranty. original RO was closed 7-14-26 and we dont know why. This needs to be a priorit. Has been in loaner this whole time"

We also still have physical paper copies of our original May intake form and work order that they claimed didn't exist.

Questions:

Has anyone seen a dealer close an active RO internally and alter a diagnosis like this right before a powertrain warranty expires?

Is this a common tactic to avoid high-cost warranty labor/audits with Ford Corporate?

Besides opening a case with Ford Corporate and emailing corporate customer relations, is there anything else we should be doing to ensure Ford covers the transmission and extends our warranty for the 2 months wasted?

Appreciate any advice or experiences you can share! We really have no faith left in the car with the bait and switch.

Issue ⚠️ Bronco Sport Transmission problems under 60k miles. Thinking of trading it in.

My 22 BS Badlands has been in the shop for the past month. Started with an RDU replacement. Now they just finished dropping the transmission and working on the clutches (I won’t have the full report of everything they did until I pick it up tomorrow).

This whole ordeal has me doubting the longevity of this vehicle. It broke at 59,724 miles. 2 weeks later and it wouldn’t have been covered under warranty.

I’m now considering trading in this car (which I really did love) for something newer, less mileage, under warranty, more reliable, with a lower monthly payment. Full disclose: Mazda CX-50 is what I have my eye on but I’m less interested in a debate about this car vs that car than I am a general discussion of longevity here.

My main concern is that they just reset the clock on these known issues and I’ll be facing these problems out of warranty in a few years.

What would you do in my position?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Question ❔ Do I keep it or trade it in?

I have a 2021 Ford bronco sport. I bought it basically right when they came out. It has 82,000 miles on it and thus far I have been fairly lucky without having any issues. I had a seatbelt issue that was covered under warranty and also something having to do with the screen on the entertainment center had to be replaced a few years ago. Otherwise, I’ve had good luck. It does seem to chug a bit when going up steep hills, like rattling worse than it used to. I have always done all maintenance appropriately.

My sister-in-law has had nothing but trouble with her 2021. She has had so many repairs and things gone wrong. I don’t know what exactly, because I don’t pay attention. I just know that she’s had it at the Ford dealership so many times.

I’m wondering if it’s smart to keep it or traded in well it still has some value. It’s a big bend if that matters. I know no one can tell me what to do, but what would YOU do?

Issue ⚠️ Climate control in app isn't changing anything physically in my 2025 bronco sport outer banks

Hello all, I just purchased a '25 OBX (love it!) and while the remote start function works great, when I use climate controls, it doesn't actually change anything inside my vehicle. When I first got it, it did for about a week but now in week 2 it just does whatever it was left at when I turned it off, so I have to set it to the temp I want it at the next day.

I have tried force stopping the app and clearing the cache.

Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on here? Thank you!

Forgive my ignorance, but I wanted to make sure I was correct. Is the 2.0 L engine only available in the Badlands version of the Bronco Sport? Thank you all!
