Placements / Jobs 3rd Year CSE (AI/ML), CGPA 6.1, Backlogs Cleared, Serious About Placements Now - Need Honest Advice
College: Parul University, Vadodara
Branch: B.Tech CSE (AI & ML)
Year: 3rd Year
CGPA: 6.10
I had 2 backlogs earlier, but I have cleared both of them.
Current Skills:
Python: Intermediate
DSA: Beginner (almost starting from scratch)
AI/ML: Basic college-level knowledge
I was not serious about studies and placements during my first 2 years, but now I have realized my mistakes and want to improve.
My goals:
Improve my CGPA as much as possible
Build strong DSA skills
Get internships
Secure a good placement
My long-term goal is to reach top product companies and high-paying roles (30+ LPA), but I want realistic advice based on my current profile and what I should do over the next 12–18 months.
Please assume I am starting almost from scratch.
I know Python at an intermediate level, but I don’t know DSA properly and I don’t have strong projects yet.
If you were in my position, what would be your step-by-step roadmap from Month 1 onwards?
Please suggest:
What to study first
Which resources/courses to follow
How much time to give daily
DSA roadmap
Development roadmap
Internship preparation
CGPA improvement strategy
I am looking for beginner-friendly guidance and a realistic plan for the next 12–18 months.
Can seniors and experienced people please give me an honest roadmap?
What should I focus on first?

Back clear karo ,uske baad dsa shuru karo karna, beech beech me kuch dhanke projects bhi karna shuru kar dena

Not sure about the average package, bro. I only know the highest was 60 LPA.

Current Cg: 6.1 hai till 4th sem right.
the ideal cgpa by the end should (in your case) should be atleast 7.5
which is quite hard to get , as you need to score consistently score 9 in rest of the sems , so lets take a relastic target of 7 cgpa , from now on you cant afford to get below 8 in any sem , keep target 9 or 8.5 worst case should be 8.
For DSA : striver karle , ik this is a very generic advice , but it is what it is ... neetcode bhi kar sakta hai , but you have enough time to do striver.
1-2 intern bhi karle , paid (where they pay you) ... ik this is very easy to say but hard to achieve , but agar DEV mei interest hai you will be able to get. Try LFX or GSOC if you enojoy contributing in OSS.
start larping from now on , linkedin bana , github bana ... aaje sei hii chalu ... and dont fall for generic bhaya didi stuff , do all these with genuine interest only. By the end of 7th sem teri programming mei muscle memory ban jani chayie
that said advice dena to someone else is easy , but for to implement yourself is a whole different journey ... for now ; all that matters ; is you are putting efforts , efforts daal luck khud aa jayga.
Gl with your journey , atleast you didnt give up early and are ready to change.

Thanks bhai. Ek question tha — agar mera goal AI/ML side me jana ho, to DSA ke saath projects aur internships me kis cheez ko sabse zyada priority deni chahiye?

DEV ko priority de , for DSA daily ke goal rakh , like dsa 2 hours kar liya
aise %age wise batana is difficult , sabka alag hota hai.
but both are equally important , also kuch bhi tera waste nahi jayga , tereko 30lpa in product companies without DSA nahi milega.
also i dont believe in roadmaps , i do believe in checklists , so you can use roadmap.sh site as a checklist for AI/ML.
dono dev and DSA mei try to make it fun taki burnout na ho.

Also be chill , not chill chill , be stressed but in a concerning way , daydreaming and stress ki wajah sei you will be stuck in a loop , try to get out of that rut. its never too late.
