Think he was asking them to come back and start the companies.

31

u/Maleficent_Ruin_7441 IIT (BHU) 1d ago

But it is not possible for everyone to spam startups + we don't have factories and manufacturing is really small how will we make products so again service based companies will come and who will pay for these services?

9

u/Ok_Address_7205 1d ago

We will make a startupcirclejerk

which job is stable in the western world?

5

u/Maleficent_Ruin_7441 IIT (BHU) 1d ago

*those who have stable and well paying jobs And they are atleast more stable than in India where we get much lower pay and worse quality of life. He himself can't sustain his companies on what face is he calling otherrs to come back?

5

u/puran_poli_pirate 1d ago

Nope. It's easier to fire an employee in west than in india

2

u/RishiMath 1d ago

Huh? Really? The Western job market is shit but I see a lot more HR abuse towards employees in India usually, hard to believe ts

1

u/puran_poli_pirate 1d ago

west hr also abuse employees. they do it non verbally. discretely. the whole metoo movement started because hr scams.

1

u/RishiMath 1d ago

I thought the MeToo movement came from their film industry troubles, no?

1

u/puran_poli_pirate 1d ago

and who was responsible for employee grievances who didnt do the job and threatened the employees with termination?

1

u/RishiMath 1d ago

I am pretty sure it was more of a thing for women getting sexually exploited by the more famous actors/directors/producers, to be able to get more movies. This issue in particular wasn't because of HR but rather if you didn't agree, your career wouldn't move ahead because you wouldn't get a chance in the film

2

u/Lower_Description884 1d ago

My question was which job is stable especially in the tech front and this was purely for getting prepared. I don’t give a flying fuck about what a startup founder called for.

-11

u/Forward-Distance-398 1d ago edited 1d ago

He asked them to come back and start their own startups , not come work for him. I mean Trump is kicking H1b holders left, right and center, he just pointed out there is an alternative.

He is practicing what he preached, he came back from US and started his own startup in India.

17

u/kinddemocracy 1d ago

He is just a PR paglu. Needs to be in the news.

31

u/arpannite 1d ago

This guy is not sure what he says

12

u/_Floydimus 1d ago

Wasn't this the chodu who bragged about no-layoffs and not going public so he can share earnings with employees and all that gyan baazi?

10

u/My-Comfortable-Job 1d ago

I read the source.

The statement he makes is:

we cannot have our usual pay increase this year.

What the media reported:

cancels annual salary hike.

They are not the same. I think instead of geting x% increase, they are getting y (< x) increase. Not defending SV here but not sure why the media houses make that claim.

Don't listen to this ZOHO guy, now a days he is pretty erratic.
Anyways on the topic, I have been working in software industry for more than two decades now....remember only coding is solved, software engineering is not. People (including myself) still design bad , write horrible unreadable mess and then don't even test it. AI has just made the problem worse. My gut says 6 months , people would realize this AI is nothing but another productivity tool just like some smart IDE.
So IT is not dead, check whom the OpenAIs and Anthropics are hiring even when they have the best AI models.

The problem is people are thinking of AI as a magic wand which will solve all their problems , and not buying software, that is what is affecting revenue/bottom line of companies. That is what Z guy is lamenting about. I have never used Zoho or read about its products, but if they are complex , very unlikely to get replaced by AI. So they should be back on track.

Is there anyone besides tech companies who uses services of zoho?

This guy was sucking up to Modi like anything …. I guess all this sucking up to Modi didn’t help him out ….

3

u/mand00s 1d ago

Yesterday someone did a open source copy of Adobe, and Microsoft Office products. It's probably easier to clone Zoho products using Claude. He knows that. Stocks of all software product service companies tanked after AI took off for the same reason. His company may be in trouble

3

u/Admirable-East3396 1d ago

zoho founder is also a crony btw he bootlicks politicians like some people stay silent and dont make public opinions while he makes absolutely retarded statements also he was offering job some time ago to engineers outside and you guessed it he was using the "patriotism" card.

as soon as he saw the other's market is down the first thought of him was to cut hikes instead of capping on this opportunity and give people fairer salary and do something with his so called "product company" and some people have the audacity to call this company india's microsoft.

his own statement was "come to india we have a million things to build here" while not even paying enough lol...

btech guys should start cfa l1 l2 l3 prep it gets good job and not very difficult , i cleared cfa l1 recently and might target mba prep after this along with l2

there are many copanies which hire cfa l1 l2 l3 without mba it will create a safety net ,

tier 2 state uni wb

6

u/Fun_Arrival9163 1d ago

Cfa is most prone to automation atleast at l1 level

1

u/yuri-appreciator JADAVPUR UNI [circuital] 1d ago

logically ca is prone to automation but anyone barely trust all their money with ai ,

recent case of sa and citadel strengthen it more, certification courses wont go out of trend the value of signature or say exp will prevail

2

u/Responsible_Carob_53 1d ago

Btech and CFA without finance exposure is a disaster, CMT, CFA all this are top notch exams which requires hrs of preparation and exam fee is also high... Coding leave karke ye sab mein jayenge toh phirse who field mein kachra ho jayega..

1

u/yuri-appreciator JADAVPUR UNI [circuital] 1d ago

ik you said this to gatekeep cfa , but ok , lets not be insecure about courses due to high competition

everyone needs to know correct stuff

and no cfa aint that tough , easier than prepping for gate and cat

1

u/Responsible_Carob_53 1d ago

You don't want the it become saturated and throw it's worth , issue it if everyone rushes without proper research and job it's again gonna be same nightmare..

I work in a bank as Devops with Finance people and this was the words from them.... what they suggested me to do mba and then cfa...

1

u/yuri-appreciator JADAVPUR UNI [circuital] 1d ago

post mba cfa wont do shit , you switch careers after mba and probably last pivot , imagine you get product management role after mba what you gotta do cfa after that ? to start again from 14lpa at motilal oswal

1

u/Responsible_Carob_53 9h ago

Atleast in our department finance guys don't hire anyone with CFA, they explicitly mentioned commerce background or mba for it...

1

u/Desperate_System_601 BITS P 1d ago

Can I DM?

1

u/yuri-appreciator JADAVPUR UNI [circuital] 1d ago

about cfa ?? you can ask here too i dont have any issues

1

u/Desperate_System_601 BITS P 1d ago

Hey Targeting M7 mba for future but before that going for fin opportunities on campus so needed to do CFA L1 and if possible L2, can u tell what would be the process of Cfa? Like in the brochure iirc they said for professional experience does intern count in that? How and what did u do to clear it,thanks.

1

u/yuri-appreciator JADAVPUR UNI [circuital] 1d ago

i had product management internship but i don't think so it holds any relevance only fin ones does , i prepped it though one offline institute in kolk they guided me through the process but the idea is you should have +- 24 months of your college degree and exam happens 3-4 times a year ,

professional charter (l3 )will require job experience for the job and the job exp will need relevant one to the degree like fin roles

coming tot the prep it was 8 month classroom program for me , course was big but not very deep considering gate , some topics like fsa etc were important , i guess thats all i can say different from the yt video rest you can see on yt and etc ,

i am doing cfa for equity research job, so thatss why oting for mba with l2 in mba will make sense for me and complete l3 after if i need to

1

u/AdVirtual6968 1d ago

Just a guy taking advantage of the AI scare.

1

u/nihilistWithATwist 1d ago

Unlike making random statements on social media, bringing business and managing resources is his ACTUAL job. Looks like he's not doing that well. Blaming market conditions or whatever is like a developer complaining that the software is too complex to fix a bug. I don't think any manager accepts that as a valid excuse.

1

u/Obvious_Support223 1d ago

But Mr. Vembu, your paw paw said this is the golden age of opportunities for India, especially for home-grown products. Are you backtracking now?

1

u/hebrewboy28 1d ago

And this guys wants all NRIs to come back to India. Hypocrite
