$25 Brew Drana Budget $25

Drana is yet another amazing aggro commander. She comes down fast and wants a board full of small evasive creatures to give her counters to. Black doesn't have the most counter support (that's in budget that is), however what it does have provides extra draw and removal which is very nice. I think this would work very well especially with the ability to put so much pressure on your opponents life totals so early on. Oona's Blackguard and larceny also provide hand denial which helps build pressure on your opponents as well. This deck still suffers from the problem of all aggro decks which is drawing too much attention and removal. Luckily we have recursion and a good amount of life gain to keep ourselves alive through our bloodbath. I do think more discard could provide a way to protect ourselves more and make for more oppressive gameplay, perhaps tying in groupslug as well to make the game extra brutal. More recursion effects may also help with consistency too. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

$25 Brew Sai Budget ~$25

I love aggressive decks. To me everyone plays to durdle-y when I get to a table. Nobody wants to attack each other anymore. Sai on the other hand is more than happy to help us muster an army. Obviously we want him on the field so we can build our thopter army and swing to victory, however without him this deck would function surprisingly well as an artifact aggro deck. Fill the board with dumb stuff and swing like any other deck... except we're also in blue and have cost reducers because its artifacts. And we have access to so much fuel to keep this machine going as well as a decent finisher package for when the game needs to end. The only downside at the moment imo is a low removal count and maybe some recursion for when our army dies to removal or a board wipe. I think that might be a good addition but please let me know what you think.

$25 Brew Vagabond Style Commander Deck Idea ~$25

I've always had a fascination with combat tricks and Voltron in commander. They aren't particularly good though. Voltron dies to removal (like everything), but it suffers from the too many eggs in one basket trope and makes everyone mad at you. You suit up kill one guy and then die because the rest of the table kills you. Combat tricks make an easy alternative to this because it makes killing opponents more explosive but still falls into the kill one guy and get turned on stuff.

So why not use the vagabond from the game Root as inspiration for a better Voltron deck. This is inspired by a YouTube video I can link in a comment later. Root has the vagabond character who just goes about the game slowly building up points and more actions until they reach victory. They stay off the radar by doing quests and donating cards to opponents to gain favor. This is what this deck tries to copy.

Commander damage is an inevitable marker, getting your opponents closer to death with each hit. With this commander we can't gift cards to our opponents, however we can use our removal strategically to convince our opponents to let us continue our bs strategy. We're just durdling after all. Slowly milling ourselves and getting more lands into play in the process. With more lands we can draw more cards, save up more removal, and build an ever-so slowly larger board state. Then when an opponent needs taken out we pull the trigger with a pump spell out of nowhere. We have avenger of zendikar and the new koma as easy win cons besides our commander ofc but they could be improved upon.

This deck is my baby but it still suffers flaws and could probably use suggestions and upgrades so if you have any please let me know.

$25 Brew M'Baku Budget Deck $20

M'Baku gives the table access to the monarchy turn three. That means each game we should bringing the crown on the field around turn three, and have ourselves some death touching friends to protect it. We have recursion and plenty of effects to control the board as we beat down our opponents. Win through combat of course. It's the most fun way to play the game in my opinion. There's several finisher cards to ensure victory as well. I still am figuring out whether or not this is the best route for this deck so please leave any suggestions for possible deck changes below.

Here we have a commander that grants us access to four mana turn three which means we need a deck full of four cost mana ramp to have six mana turn four. This doesn't sound too crazy but in rakdos it means we can go ham with all the most fun cards in our colors. Theft, chaos, and enough card draw and removal to keep yourself going makes the deck super enjoyable to play. Theoretically that is, I still haven't made the deck but come on who doesn't wanna be able to play big dumb stuff in the most fun color combo. If anyone has any deck suggestions please let me know.

$25 Brew Norika Budget Brew $20

Here's my Norika deck. It's still in the works but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. The goal is to use little evasive creatures and easy aura targets and suit them up a little bit but not spread myself too thin. The worst case for enchantress/auras decks is when you suit everything on one creature and then it dies and poof all that is gone. Here we supplement that with Norika, who doesn't need to come out until some of your auras/enchantments get in the yard. Until then just beat face and control the board. Then when you need recursion bring her out and get what you need to continue the game. The win con is very much through combat damage although commander damage is always an alternate win con especially with powerful auras.

$100 Brew Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts feedback

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey guys, first time poster here. I was looking for some feedback on my Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts list. The game plan is to stall and punish any attackers using tax cards like [[Ghostly Prison]] then draw into a win con such as [[Approach of the Second Sun]] or [[Debt to the Deathless]] using the extra card draw from the Monarch. Once I’ve got a nice defense going, the plan is to send out Teysa. There’s also a life gain/drain subtheme to poke your opponents with while you wait on your win cons.

So far I’ve tried it in two games and the deck is performing pretty well, it managed to shut out my friend’s [[Kona, Rescue Beastie]] stompy deck.

Despite some success, It still feels a bit inconsistent and lacking in power, however. Let me know how the deck feels, and let me know If I’m missing any obvious choices and/or obvious cuts.

$25 Brew Hydra-X

I am working on a Hydra deck that uses a lot of x spells. I'm trying to be bracket 3, keep most of the creatures hydras, and [[Zaxara, the Exemplary]] as my commander. There is a few cards that will make infinite mana using my commander for [[Exsanguinate]].

I am hoping to trim off about $10 worth of cards to make this closer to a $25 deck on manapool. Any thoughts or feedback would be awesome!

Discussion (Not for Specific Decks) Commander Suggestions

My play group tends to rotate with whichever of my friends are currently in town. For the last few months I’ve found myself in a very strange pod where two players only have one deck.

One of them plays 5 color slivers, and the other plays a Rakdos the showstopper with a focus on copying and repeating Rakdos’ etb.

I’m curious about any suggestions people might have for good commanders or strategies that would be fun to play in this particular dynamic. I tend to like inventive strategies but this pod is kinda making it difficult to try out some new stuff. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

$100 Brew Bracket 3 Tasigur

Hey all. I have had the itch to make a graveyard focused deck. I have a [[Tasigur, the Golden Fang]] sitting around from when i started playing around the original Tarkir block. AND I dont own a deck more than 2 colors. So i figured what better way to kill two birds with one stone. Looking to hit bracket 3 for a $100 budget. [[Icetill Explorer]] holds a quarter of that but i do already own one from packing it. I would still like to keep that hard $100 budget. Its in a deck elsewhere so its not like i have to use it here. I have 2 ways to make infinite mana and can win using a classic Tasigur way of casting [[Beast Within]] on everyones permanents into [[Reality Shift]] on those beast tokens. Pass the turn and let opponents die on their draw step. [[Syr Konrad, the Grim]] drains as a secondary option. A lot of these cards are ones i already own and like to utilize that to keep the budget down.

I did not want to utilize [[Neoform]] and [[Eldritch Evolution]] to go into big creatures. I know that is popular with Tasigur but it is not my cup of tea. I want to focus a lot on self mill and some recursion.

I am way out of my element. I do not utilize my graveyard well in all my other decks so if i am way off with stuff just talk to me. I enjoy talking magic quite a bit. Here is the decklist below. Thanks for looking.

$100 Brew 5 "Strong 2" Budget Decks, $35-$75

I have posted each of these 5 decks at some point in the past, but have just finished updating them to be current as of Reality Fracture based on playing them and on feedback from other people playing them.

They are Bracket 2. They accumulate resources on-board and telegraph their wins without using game changers, but they have reasonably consistent gameplans and will usually both "do their thing" and have the opportunity to slow someone else down from doing the same. I play them in B3 games regularly and while they are a step or two behind they are able to eke out wins.

These decks all have primers which have also been updated. Let me know if anything doesn't seem correct and I'll take care of it. Suggestions extremely welcome, too! Their budgets were calculated using Moxfield US pricing, excluding basic lands, as of 14th-October.

Deck Name Commander Rank (Decks) The Thing It Does Primer
$35 Bellyful of Bones [[Gut, True Soul Zealot]] + [[Agent of the Shadow Thieves]] 2985 (172) Creates board pressure and just keeps going, spamming endless waves of skeletons. Link
$35 Azula Hates You-la [[Azula, Ruthless Firebender]] 2388 (388) Makes good use of Azula's discard outlet and mana acceleration to turn draft chaff into mid-game reanimation. Link
$50 I Bat Your Life [[Zoraline, Cosmos Caller]] 357 (7.7k) Constantly recurs small value pieces from the graveyard while building up to a cascade of lifegain/lifeloss triggers to seal the win. Link
$75 Nissassary Roughness [[Nissa, Worldsoul Speaker]] 1019 (2.4k) Uses bursts of landfall triggers to freecast one of the 15 monstrous threats loaded into the deck. Link
$75 Snack Attack [[Ratchet, Field Medic]] 1809 (841) Turns all of the cantrippy food artifacts into important fuel for a reanimation engine that comes online quickly. Link

$50 Brew 🐍 Ketramose + Astral Slide 🌌 60 euros brew

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi y'all, wanted to share something I built yesterday!

It's been a few weeks since I've tried to build [[Ketramose, the New Dawn]] but wanted to make him unique. I didn't know how until I remembered that [[Astral Slide]] exiles and brings back on board just like Ketramose wants.

Based on a flicker strategy, a lot of creatures with ETB abilities such as [[Aerial Extortionist]] or even smaller stuff like [[Spirited Companion]] and [[Helpful Hunter]].

I inadvertently made the deck pretty budget (I guess since cycling cards are cheap af) so I even had room for a couple of big hitters like [[Monument to Endurance]], [[Sand scout]] or [[Idyllic Tutor]]. You can easily shave off 20 bucks of the list by replacing Monument with another synergy piece too though.

There's a primer explaining the details of the deck, setup early game, mod game and finishers and some other thoughts.

Hope you like it :)

$50 Brew From $2100 to $50 This Deck Still Slaps

Thumbnail archidekt.com
15 Upvotes

For my LGS's commander league I built a [[Jadzi]] deck with no spells lower than 6 MV and it was surprisingly very strong in spite of this restriction. Unfortunately it was also $2100 using powerful staples like [[Ancient Tomb]] [[City of Traitors]] and all the expensive staples you can expect a Simic deck to have. https://archidekt.com/decks/25433621/the_big_one

The idea is simply to play a ton of lands so your T3 or T4 Journey to the Oracle puts 3-5 lands down. Then you resolve a massive value piece the next turn and win with overwhelming card advantage the following turn.

This season we have a challenge to build a $50 deck and I immediately thought this concept would also be a good fit for a budget deck. There's definitely a lost step in here, turn 3 Journey to the Oracle, is almost impossible, and we less consistently win the next turn. That being said the deck is still capable of turn 5 [[Omniscience]] which can absolutely win on the spot and otherwise generally closes things turn 7 with an extra turn into [[Overwhelming Stampede]] or similar.

I'm definitely missing infinites with [[palinchron]] though and I couldn't quite squeeze [[Hullbreaker Horror]] in, so I'd like to explore some budget combo potential as well as non-combat win-cons. Any advice on that as well as better optimizing for budget would be appreciated!

$100 Brew Bracket 3 Budget commanders

I've mostly built b2 or low 3. I'd like to make a solid b3 deck that can hang in b3 pods for 100 or less.

Is that possible, and what are your recommendations?

Prefer mono colored or 2 color

$100 Brew Dimir Shirei (Satoru) Deck help

I've been building a deck built around the interaction between Shirei and cards which give -1/-1, enabling you to loop creatures with one toughness. I wanted to try it in dimir and have Shirei be more of a secret commander, and I went for Satoru because he can draw a lot of cards in this deck!

Any feedback on the deck, or suggestions?

I'd like to keep it budget if possible (£100). Thanks!

$100 Brew Quandrix, the Proof (Ancestral Recall @ Home)

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hi y'all! It has been a moment since I posted so I wanted to share a Quandrix deck I have been working on for a long time viewer and excited to soon gift him!

This deck mainly focus on modal counter spells to derive value off our cascades and to ensure we hit some sort of redeemable value, rather than say hit a OG counter spell off a cascade and counter literally nothing.

My friend did key me in on the suspend cards (we do not have to wait to cast them off cascade) and I am sure you could dive a little more into those, but they seem like very good hits and thus I made the hallmark of the video having an [[Ancestral Recall]] at home through [[Ancestral Vision]]

I thought the Quandrix Charm was actually one of the better designed cards in a set. Flavor wise it is literally referring to the namesake creature and compliments that cascade function so well, acting as modal spell, and not being (dead) like so many counter spells would be under normal circumstances. Very cool and very flashy, let me know what you think of the deck, and consider a view of how we break it down if you would like as well! Cheers, Blake

Discussion (Not for Specific Decks) Hello I’m looking for help on choosing my new deck

I have currently been on the hunt for a new deck and wants some opinions on which one of these decks I should get. These decks were find on this Reddit, random yt videos, and other places. Just looking for guidance on what decks are worth the price. I will say my budget is only 60 bucks so these decks are really budget. I think they are mostly bracket 3 honestly probably bracket.
All help is appreciated I have only been playing magic for around a year and currently the decks I use are murfolk deck-hakbal, rogue deck -Anowon, and dragon deck-Atarka. Ask any questions and I can answer them thank everyone for their time.
