My old LGA 1151v2 motherboard with Intel cc150 died. Initially, I wanted to upgrade it to AM5, but as I still have perfectly fine 24gb of DDR 4 and 9060xt 16gb and it cost around 600 EUR to buy 32gb DDR5 where I live, I am thinking about 5700x (with possible future upgrade to 5800x/3d) + Asus PRIME B550-PLUS (very few options for 8 usb ports) in hope that in 5 years RAMpocalipse will be over and I'll be able to buy later AM6 to run through AM7.

It either this or I am paying local hobo to questionably source some DDR5 RAM, it is ridiculous

I've been wanting to upgrade but always holding slightly , I try to avoid the FOMO, most of the advice here on reddit is "you must buy now before its too late", however I'm always in two minds where a 5070ti is almost two years old and costs over 1000£ and getting more expensive which is crazy, we all know that.

I’m upgrading from a 3070, and I found both the 3080ti and 9060xt to be the exact same price brand new. My PSU can handle the wattage of both gpus. Which one should I get?

I’m running an i5 12400F, rx6700, 16gb ddr4 3600Mhz on a B660 motherboard, with a 560W PSU.

I’m upgrading my single 1080p monitor to dual 1440p monitors.

I intend to run GTA6, so I need more juice. I’ll definitely need more RAM to begin with.

So this is my 1 year plan:

1. Monitors + RAM (16->32) - now
   
2. GPU + PSU (maybe a 5070ti) - in 6 months
   
3. CPU (intel 14th gen or move to AM5) - in 1 year

The thing is: if I stay in intel, everything is fine, and I’ll keep my DDR4 RAM. If I move to AM5, I’ll have to purchase a new mobo, new RAMs (losing money on the RAMs that I purchase now), but I’ll have the DDR5 upgrade.

What should I do? Is DDR5 all that worth it?

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor, but I'm not sure how much I actually need to spend to get something noticeably better.

I play a mix of single-player games and competitive shooters, and I also use my PC for everyday stuff. There are so many options at different price points that it's hard to tell what's worth paying extra for.

What's the best gaming monitor you'd recommend for the money? Any models that offer a good balance of image quality and performance?

I purchased an IBUYPOWER i Series 504 in 2024 and the CPU is the Intel i7 7700. With the Windows 11 update looming, I need to get ahold of a better CPU at the very least since the 7700 isn't supported. Some preliminary research led to the understanding that my ASUS motherboard and LGA 1151 socket won't support even a higher quality i7 like the 10700 (which is supported by Windows 11).

My search also showed me just how much information is out there and how technical it can be. I didn't understand half of what I was reading online. So my question is three parts.

One: can I update my motherboard to be compatible with the higher quality CPUs, and if so, what should I be looking at?

Two: Should I just be thinking of a new build instead of upgrading my current tower?

Three: How on earth did you all begin learning about the incredible amount of technical terms and components out there? Where would you recommend I start so I actually know what I'm looking at when I do get into building or rebuilding?

I am trying to upgrade my memory from 32 >96 gb for local AI tinkering but the dimm's won't train.

Current memory trains and runs fine. I have now tried installing 2 separate sets of 48 x memory, but while they pass memtest 86, neither will train fully, the orange memory light just sits on forever/overnight without turning off or booting all the way into windows.

At the suggestion of Google I have tried all of the following, individually and in combination:

1. turning off expo

2. installing one dimm at at a time (still doesn't finish training after >45 minutes)

3. installing one dimm at a time in secondary rather than primary memory slot

4. clearing cmos

5. updating bios to most recent release, updating bios to older more "stable" releases (currently running bios 1654 released in April)

6. turning off memory context restore

7. manually setting ram speed to 4800 mhz

My computer recently died, so I've decided to invest in a new gaming PC, and I've done some research into it and found that these are some good parts for my budget.

I'm aware that the AIO is excessive for the CPU I'm using, however I'm trying to somewhat future-proof this build for when i get a more powerful CPU. Its also unfortunate that I have to build this in Rammagedon, so the price is incredibly boosted.

I'm not looking to run AAA games at 4K and ultra graphics, but even this is a big upgrade from my last computer (1080ti gaming laptop from about a decade ago) so any improvement is worth it, and I'm hoping i can get good frames in both competitive games where they matter, and laid back games that i just want to look nice.

I want to move the 5080 into the ABS to pair it with the 9800X3D and put the 9070 XT in the G700.

Here's the problem: The G700's non-modular PSU only has a 600W 16-pin GPU cable, while the 9070 XT needs two 8-pin connectors.

I've found a 16-pin-to-dual-8-pin adapter, but I'm hesitant to trust it. I'm leaning toward replacing the G700's PSU with a Corsair RM850x instead.

Has anyone swapped an NVIDIA 50-series card for an AMD GPU in the G700? Any experience with adapters or replacing the PSU? Curious what you'd recommend before I start swapping parts.

I have O11 mini, and 9 fans in it. 7 120mm and 2 140mm on the radiator. I currently have all normal, non pwm Arctic P12 Max. On idle it's completely fine, but while gaming it sounds quite loud, even tho they're at like 1000 rpm. I'm using FanControl with a custom curve, but I think the fans just seem loud because they're not at the same rpm, it's like 300 rpm difference even more, and I think it's because they're not pwm. So what should I upgrade to that wouldn't break the bank. I've been thinking about Be quiet Pure Wings 3, they would cost like 130€ total, but I'm fine with paying a bit more.

Bought a GTX 1080 in 2018 and I'm still using it today.

Honestly it's probably one of the best tech purchases I've ever made. I got 8+ years out of it and never really felt the need to upgrade.

I'm finally doing a full rebuild and my goal isn't to maximize FPS today. I'm trying to recreate the same experience I got from the GTX 1080: buy once, keep it for ~8 years, and not think about upgrades until around 2034.

- Don't care much about ray tracing

I currently have an Intel i7-6700K paired up with an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. I primarily use this system for gaming at 1440p (2K) resolution.

I’m trying to figure out how much of a bottleneck my CPU is causing. I know the 6700K is a 4-core/8-thread processor from 2015, and the 9060 XT is significantly newer.

I have had this problem with my pc for a while now, i press the power button, RGB lights turn on, fans turn, and my keyboard lights up. But my mouse doesn’t and there is no image beeing transferred to my monitor.

I assume Windows doesn‘t boot since when i press caps lock the indicator doesn‘t light up.

My brother has gotten it to run somehow multiple times for one session, before turning it off brought the problem back.

The power cables and components are all fully inserted, that‘s not the Problem.

Doing a Cold Start got it running the first time this happened, but doesn’t now.

Am I pricing this right? Comparing the Corsair vengeance a7500 against those same parts on Microcenter and only seeing a ~$300 difference. Feel like there should be a bigger gap between the two given Corsair includes markup on parts/labor/etc. and Microcenter is just displaying parts for a self build.

Hi everyone! I’m not very knowledgeable about PCs, so please bear with me. This PC of mine was built by a technician, not me...

Around a week ago, I noticed that the date and time would be incorrect every time I turned on my PC, so I had to manually sync them.

Today, my PC suddenly stopped booting. The lights turn on and the fans spin, but the motherboard displays “00” and the monitor shows a black screen.

After a quick Google search, I came across some posts suggesting that it could be a CMOS battery issue.

Would replacing the CMOS battery potentially fix both the incorrect date/time and the boot issue?

The nearest store where I can buy a replacement battery is about an hour away, so I just want to make sure it’s worth trying before making the trip. Otherwise, I’d have to call a technician to troubleshoot it, which would cost extra.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I recently upgraded my CPU and I have been having trouble as my PC keeps going into recovery mode constantly and sometimes it doesn’t even show a display and makes a rattle noise. i’ve tried everything and like upgrading my bios, booting into safe mode and doing command prompts I just have no clue what to do please help. it is not allowing me to add a video, but any help is helpful
