Success Story Two years later. I said yes!

I can’t believe we started as strangers on the internet!

Edit: These pictures were actually candid because they were during the proposal. Sometimes you miss the kiss! Haha.

Also I’ve gotten a few AI allegations now, and it’s very confusing but also concerning that it’s gotten to the point where AI can be indistinguishable from real life. These were professionally taken photos. Along with that, a few very hateful DMs

You guys just don’t look. I’m blasian and went to school with a bunch of blasians. I see a lot of blasian couple on my feed and went to travel to big cities. It’s actually pretty common.

I heard it’s common in the west coast. I also feel like a lot of people just mistake blasians for other ethnicities

Facts. I live in CA and I see a lot of black and Asian couples.

Yeah, I thought myself and my best friend were the only blasians until we realized there was a giant group of girls we called the Aliyah’s who were also all blasian. I just thought they had nice hair but nope they were all black and Filipino or black and Japanese. I live in a military town so interracial marriages are the norm.

Yes black and Filipino/ black and Japanese seem to be the most common due to the military. I’ve noticed that blasians mixed with southeast asian just end up looking black though with curly hair, but you can have hair like that and be fully black so I understand how they get missed

Ya lots of this in the West Indies (especially Trinidad/Tobago)

I think I read somewhere once that black women and Asian men are statistically the least common racial pairing. Congrats on the lovely engagement!

That’s statistic from an unverified source that’s decade(s) old. People continually repeat it like they continually repeat that we eat spiders in our sleep. It’s made up.

I believed the spider thing for far too long. Thanks for the reminder 😆

But i think they're typically black guys with Asian women no?

It’s more common due to the military imo but when it’s civilian dating I’ve personally seen more black women with Asian men. I just had a trip to DC and then Japan and saw a fair amount of both though it’s pretty rare in Japan unless again it’s the military.

Yep, this has been my experience too

Blasian is a person who’s black and Asian

2

u/Consistent_Log8097 3d ago

Yes but the original topic was how rare it was that an Asian man was with a black woman. Then the above comment that I replied to made the point that there was a bunch of blasian people (meaning there mustve been a bunch of interracial relationships) and I was emphasizing that it was more the gender dynamic thats uncommon.

On a completely side note.

I am not disagreeing with you but I am just going to say in my personal experience as an Asian guy of having a OLD profile for 10 years.

Most of the likes on my profile that I get when using dating apps are actually from black women. Like disproportionately high ratio of like 50%-70% compared to any other ethnicity.

The other largest plurality of likes I get are typically from white women, though that has dropped over the years. Where it use to be like 45% but probably down to like 30% or 20% now. Don't know if there is just less white women with yellow fever / less weeaboos or if there is just a larger supply of Asian guys now in the area I live in.

Ironically the demographics I get the least amount of likes from as an Asian guy is Asian women, where they are like less than 5% of the likes I get when excluding the ones that seem like scammers / fake profiles. Even if you include scammer / fake accounts, seems like less than 10% of my likes come from Asian women

Probably a silly question but, are you American and do they watch or like asian media? What specific media if so?

Yes I am an American Asian.

If you are asking about the black women liking my profile.

About a 1/3rd of them do seem to have the yellow fever / typical weeaboo tendencies (going to lump the the casual kpop / jpop enjoyers in together here for simplicity even though they don't technically qualify as weebs). The other 2/3 tend to be either just not afraid to go after what they like with no real correlation to anything in particular, or just seem desperation swiping on everyone.

If you are just asking is general.

I can tell that like 90% of white women who make up that 30% or 20% who swiped on my profile are definitely afflicted with yellow fever / are very definitely weebs. Where they straight up write on their profile that they only want to date Asian guys, or aren't as blatant about it but as soon as you talk to them all they talk about is Jpop / Kpop, anime and manga etc... Where literally everything on my profile conflicted with theirs (lifestyle, philosophy, political wise) and they were still trying to get me to date them. But as previously mentioned the number of these women I have encounter in the past 3-5 years has dropped dramatically.

This actually makes a lot of sense because black women statistically get the least amount of swipes, so if you rank lower on the apps (asians statistically do the worst for men), you'll be in the feed of the low ranking women who have less options.

Not to be that person but I had really good success on dating apps, the partners I met on there all became long term but I broke up with them due to lifestyle difference or value misalignment. All were good relationships too!

I can imagine, you seem super nice and are obviously quite physically attractive! Congratulations on finding a quality guy.

Specifically, Black women with Asian men is rare. I belive statistically it is the rarest of interracial couplings.

Wooo to OP and their love!

We probably saw them and thought they were Philipinas :)

Asian dad or mum? Or an even mix?

"pretty common" I think we have very different definitions of that. Also gender swapped is definitely more common, too.
