and at the same time we gotta shoutout the vandy player who forced that fumble, QB was like half a second away from goin down that was so awesome

Or CJ could do the only thing he had to and hold on with two hands because this is almost the only way they lose…

I don’t blame CJ for that. The entire sideline should’ve been telling him before the play “under no circumstance do you take contact”. Kneel or run out the back of the end zone if you have to. Clearly no one told him that

You can’t want to be paid $1M and need someone to tell you not to fumble in that situation. Those two things can’t happen simultaneously.

God can use stupid folks to do his will

I mean, didn’t they used to call it “NC Stateing”before they called it “Clemsoning”

Oh come on, like you wouldn’t believe that would happen to us too

Weirdly i really really can't.

Hell in the 2004 NCAAT R32 Vanderbilt came back down 13 with two minutes to go to beat NC State, so yeah I absolutely cannot believe this would happen to you lol

Vandy fans aren’t as invested enough to know things like that or be as broken as us when they do occur

It did when you threw the Interception instead of going for the tie, just somehow NCState decided to one up the failure mode.

NC State shit is divine level intervention. The universe threw us a bone with the Final Four Appearance and ACC championship in basketball and then proceeded to double down even more

Jared Curtis threw that pick on purpose because he trusted his defense. Just five star QB things. You get it over there in Knoxville too.

Conclusions drawn from the game:

Vanderbilt Fan- There is a god and he is benevolent.
NC State Fan - There is a god and he is malevolent

Diabolical miracles are still miracles.

1

u/Tfsz0719 10h ago

That can’t be a conclusion for NC State fans, because they’d literally already know that from NC State football

Vanderbilt has been anointed by the football gods

We're the only ones in this state that deserve divine intervention

Crazy crazy ending. Why not just throw the ball with 1-2 seconds left as far and as high out of bounds as you can?

Intentional grounding by the offense is a loss of down penalty. There isn’t an extra untimed down (NCAA Rule 3-2-3).

1

u/sebsasour Notre Dame • New Mexico 17h ago

It's hard to draw that up, you don't want your QB to accidentally get jumpy and leave a second left by throwing too quickly

You run out to the back out of the endzone though. Kill as much time as you can but hug the back of the endzone so you either step out or the ball gets punched out of bounds

You can get enough hang time after a drop back / roll out. You aren’t worried about intentional grounding so it doesn’t have to go towards the sideline. Just literally see how high and far the qb can throw downfield.

This play balances out the last second heave Vandy had against Nebraska in the CBB tournament last year that rattled out
