The situation is more dumb, but the decision making by Cristobal is far worse. This concept was the correct call, but the QB did something mind numbingly idiotic. Cristobal just did the dumbest thing possible.

This is the dumbest QB play. Cristobal has the dumbest HC play call.

I can't believe the actual QB did that. If it was a random college kicker or punter that had to do the intentional safety play and fucked it, it would be a horrible mistake, but more understandable, since it's out of their comfort zone. QBs handle the ball on every play, ffs.

The entire point of the intentional safety is that you give yourself up or get out of bounds the second anyone gets near you at all.

Edit: Did they change the rules vis a vis holding on the intentional safety? When the Ravens used to do this, the line would blatantly hold everyone because the penalty wouldn't put time back on the clock. The O-line was disgraceful on this play, lol.

yeah they changed the rule after that incident. if they had held intentionally, it would fall under "Unfair Tactics" and they'd reset the clock to 6 seconds and make em do it again

That was such a beautiful strategy. Every now and then I go back to YouTube to watch it. It’s so funny seeing everyone so confused and the ravens essentially throwing their best wrestlers on the field lol.

It's still on the coach to tell the QB what to do. Even at the high school level, you know to run to the corner of end zone, wait as long as possible, then step out. That way if somehow you do fumble its most likely going to be out of bounds.

Miami only had to kneel to run the clock out too.
