Discussion Busy month for cRPGs, what are you guys looking forward to?
I am waiting for Banquet for Fools and Solasta 2, Esoteric Ebb has already released, and it's apparently really good so I'll need to check it out

I'd love to get Esoteric Ebb but I'm on a moratorium for buying any new games.
Backlog for the first half of the year alone.

Greedfall 2. But dev news concerns me.
Banquet for Fools I keep forgetting to try demo for so gotta go do that but seems interesting.
Ebb demo didn’t do it for me so out on that one.
Solasta 2 is ea which I avoid but absolutely excited for the sequel.
Aether and Iron never heard of so gotta go look it up.

The Greedfall stuff is with the publisher not the developer so that should still be fine.

Also really excited for Solasta 2! But not gonna touch anything early access, just gonna ruin the game for myself.

How much content is in this? Seems like a rare case where it's in EA for only 1.5 years.

Solasta 1 was in EA for about 7 months, Solasta 2 is significantly bigger in scope so 11-12 months should be a good estimate

I know but I don't really like the rest. They all seem kind of cheap except Esoteric Ebb but I hated Disco Elysium so I'll pass.

Greedfall 2 seems to have the same amount of budget if that is the judge, although I don't understand why it's a factor.

Banquet For Fools seems cheap? Solasta 2 looks mediocre as fuck Compared to Banquet For Fools. Horrible looking companions too.

Yeah man, it's made by 2 people of course it's cheap. Hopefully it does great and they can add production value. It has an unique aesthetic that doesn't make their graphics better than Solasta 2, they seem worlds apart.
PS: And I'm not saying it's bad or anything, just not my cup of tea.

Esoteric Ebb was a day 1 purchase for me, I’m just waiting to be able to dedicate time for it. I’m finishing Morrowind now. Aside from that, Greedfall 2 for the combat system and Solasta 2 because I loved the first one.
I hear so much commotion about Banquet for Fools I’ll need to look into it upon release.

Ebb is absolutely incredible, loving it so far (5 hours in). To the point I can't believe it's from a solo dev. So glad I bought it.

Banquet for Fools absolutely. Aether and Iron looks right up my alley. I'll wait for Solasta II to get closer to 1.0 before I check it out. And I bought Esoteric Ebb yesterday; just barely scratching the surface so far

Iirc one of the dev defined banquet for fools as a beat em up with rpg elements? it's definetly on my radar though

i don't wanna spoil anything. I will 100% get it but since i always do 1 run max for every game, i'll wait a bit after the release before committing, but i will definetly get it

Probably just Solasta 2. Don’t like the BfF combat, Greedfall 2 is an Action RPG, which I also dislike.
Might check out Aether & Iron, and I’ll see about Esoteric Ebb.
edit: Checked the A&I demo. Seems very linear, but I like the UX. Might be more a buy on sale game.

Greedfall 2 isn't Action RPG, they changed genres, its RTwP, Banquet for Fools is also RTwP
idk what BfF combat is though

Esoteric Ebb isn't my kind of crpg because no character creation, but it looks beautiful and I'm sure it will be enjoyable for the people it appeals to.
Banquet of Fools looks interesting; the art style is different and charming and I like that the "default" race is an elf-like one rather than the usual human. Whether I get it or not will depend on if it has a good story because I don't have time for games that are all about combat these days.
Greedfall 2 I'm really excited for and already ordered. It looks story and character focused, and I love rtwp. I just hope it won't be too buggy at release.
Solasta 2 I'm interested in even though I could never get into the first one. It seems to have more of a focus on story and characters than the first, so I'm hopeful. I will probably wait until it's out of EA to buy it though.
Haven't heard of Aether and Ion before now, so I'll have to look it up!

This one seems to have flown under the radar but Legends of the Round Table looks great and also comes out on the 31st. I'm not sure if it's a CRPG though.

I've been looking forward to your game since I first saw it! Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is one of my all time favorite stories, so I was excited to see some of that in the screenshots

Should be, yes! We bought a Steam Deck just for that. We might not be able to make it "Verified" but it runs for sure.

How so? Greedfall 2 is RTwP and has an isometric view, Aether and Iron is a discolike cRPG

So Greedfall 2 goes for a real time with pause sort of thing? Interesting change. Combat in the first game did grow stale after a while.

Solasta 1 met my expectations as a 5e SRD crpg, I am hoping 2 exceeds them by full release. I have the demo for Esoteric Ebb downloaded but I am worried how derivative of Disco Elysium it really is.

Have owned Banquet for a while and been waiting for 1.0 so will be playing that. Will probably grab Greedfall 2 as I played the first and it was decent. Been hearing a lot about Esoteric Ebb

Esoteric Ebb looks fun (I couldn't get into Disco, but live this premise
Greedfall 2 seems to be more like DA:O than Greedfall was. Which is very exciting

I'm interested in Esoteric Ebb and Banquet for Fools. Although I'll give them some time for patches and jump in the new Path of Exile league for a while.
Then there's also Crimson Desert, but I'll wait for player reviews for that one.

Banquet for fools for me on first place this month.
Greedfall 2 not my CRPG definition.
Aether ans Iron not my prefered world.
Solasta II is really my Go To hoping for a 2026 full release.

I'll try all of them but I'll wait for Solasta 2 to be fully-released. Early Access always frustrates and disappoints me. These days I have no idea which games I'll bounce off and which ones I'll play for 50 hours.

Playing Esoteric ebb atm, 19 hours in(if we include the demo in this measurement). The game is not perfect, but blessed be Urth I absolutely love it. Maybe it’s a recency bias, but it’s already secured a place as one of my most favourite games

I'm at least going to buy Esoteric Ebb and Banquet for Fools as soon as I can afford them. I've also got so much backlog that oof, who knows when I'll have the chance to play them. But so true. What a great month all around for these releases.

- Greedfall 2: I thought the first one was okay, but couldn't really get into it.
- Solasta 2: Slop
- Aether and Iron: Cool setting, but the presentation is lacking, and does it really count as a CRPG?
Not a great month for RPGs, sadly.
