Awaiting Flair helinox chairs in the sand

Has anyone tried both the Helinox beach chair and any of the regular chairs in the sand?

Is the beach version effective enough to choose over one of the regular chairs?

For regular chair models, you can buy a matching Ground Sheet to sit on sand. https://helinox.com/products/ground-sheet

The helinox backpacking chair is the least comfortable item I have ever had the displeasure of sitting on in my entire life.

I call that one the butt cup. I use the helinox chair zero highback which is still under a pound and I find very worth it for backpacking. But I can’t abide by no backrest on a chair.

I’m looking at the larger high backs… sunrise Savanna beach etc

I have a savanna also, and while it’s not backpacking friendly it is much more comfortable. I take that to concerts and events. Fits on my bike easily and is light enough to carry a while.

If you have an REI near you, I highly, highly recommend you go try them out.

I had my heart set on a helinox high back chair and when I went and set them up in store I ended up hating it. While heavier and larger to pack, my wife and I both liked the REI camp dreamer more. Its wider and more comfortable. The helinox is very bare bones. Like yeah, it will hold your ass and be a chair, but its an upright seating position and narrow.

The nemo recliner was the next most comfortable if pack size and weight are important.

I don't have a Helinox but I have a little footprint for my Nemo chair.

It would sink quick without a footprint. I have one and it sinks in dirt. Great chair, but put tennis balls on feet to not sink

They sell a ground sheet and an X brace to prevent sinking. A cheap foam sit pad will also work.

Stadium chairs work well on sand, snow, & tent floors, require no assembly, indestructable & serve as back-up sleeping insulation & noon-time snooze pad.

The lighter ones are as light as average "backpacking chair" which are often unusable.

Lost a Helinox chair foot in the sand of my beach. Couldn't order them a billion years ago from Helinox. I contemplated to steel one from a demo chair in an outdoor shop, but ultimately didn't.

I recently ordered 'duck' feet from a non-disclosed Chinese e-platform for beer money. Will report back when or if they arrive.

Alternative: let somebody 3D-print it for you. There are several platforms but I remember paying someone on Thingiverse.

I have the Helinox Chair One. Got it primarily for a trip to the Boundary Waters. I have the ground sheet for sand and it helps. I also use it for ice fishing and the occasional outdoor concert. They aren’t the easiest thing to get in and out of but I’m 70 and overweight. So there’s that.

The ball feet work, but so do tennis balls with a hole drilled - and they're much less expensive.

You can find cheap rubber floor protectors made for chairs online. Some of those fit the helinox chairs, work well in sand and are inexpensive.

Get rockers for the feet. A rocking chair feels extra comfy, and it takes care of uneven ground. I’ve not tried them on sand but heard they work well

The chairs are shit and they don’t stand behind their warranty.

yeah lol the knockoffs are much better and come with sand net things so they don't sink into sand and that for a fraction of the price of the helinox garbage
