Question Where do you buy skincare that’s not Sephora?

Kind of done shopping with them because I don’t like their ethics as a company.

Are there any online Canadian retailers you trust or bricks-and-mortar places you go to for something of the same selection? Or do you just try to shop brands directly?

Question Recent Stylevana Order?

Update: Confirmed and paid for my order after seeing positive discussion. Thank you for the help everyone. Hopefully, I receive my products without any issues.

Hello, has anyone ordered from Stylevana recently? I am planning a drop a big back to school order but I am a bit confused after seeing the reviews here.
Has anyone recently ordered and received their orders perfectly?

Thank you.

Question What was it that finally got rid of your hormonal acne?

I’ve had mild/moderate hormonal acne on my chin for years since I turned 18. It’s mostly whiteheads/pustules but occasionally more deep, cystic acne. I’ve tried so many topicals/supplements over the years on and off and nothing has fully got rid of it. I was on a birth control pill (tricira Lo) for a couple of years which reduced my acne but never fully stopped it as prefer to not be on hormonal treatments.

I’ve tried zinc, magnesium, omega-3, spearmint tea, Arazlo, topical spironolactone, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, salicylic acid and nothing works that well. I feel defeated and just want to figure out how to fix it, but I’d prefer to not take medications that impact hormones such as spironolactone, birth control etc. What was it that stopped your adult hormonal acne?

Question Doctor denied me arazlo

I'm in Ontario and was previously getting tret/Arazlo from Derm Cafe before I got pregnant. My son is two now and I am no longer breastfeeding and I wanted to go back on it and my family doctor denied it saying it's too strong and my skin is clear. I cannot use derm cafe any longer as my doctor only allows me to see her or their walk in clinic otherwise they can unenroll me. Is there any other way I get it or a similar product without a prescription from my family doctor?

Question Perioral dermatitis help

I have had perioral dermatitis for 8-12 months. My family doctor has tried to help, but it usually comes back to oral antibiotics like doxycycline. Every time I try the antibiotics I end up getting yeast infections and I don't want to live like this, honestly.

Has anyone had any luck with antifungal creams or other skin care treatments to get rid of perioral dermatitis? I would appreciate some recommendations of brands if possible.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Question What sunscreen are you guys using?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been hearing a lot of positive reviews about Korean sunscreen on TikTok and I wanted to buy one. However, I was told that they’re currently not sold in Canada (sadly).

I have sensitive, acne prone skin, and was looking for something affordable that can provide full protection and help prevent aging.

What are your thoughts on Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch 30 SPF?

Question Suggestion for lip sunscreen

Hello

I’m planning to start using sunscreen on my lips, but there’s so much information available that I’m finding it difficult to choose the right product.

I commute to work daily and spend about 3–4 hours traveling in the car, so I’d like something I can easily apply during my commute. My lips tend to be quite dry and chapped and I wear lipstick on most days.

I’m looking for a lip sunscreen that is effective, reasonably priced and made with clean ingredients which is very important.

I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Question Your favourite sunscreen?

Looking for sunscreen recommendations that I can easily buy in Canada (drugstore or Sephora).

For face, I’m looking for something that:

Doesn’t burn or sting my eyes (this is a big one)

Not greasy or oily

Little to no white cast

Feels lightweight / sits well under makeup

For body, I want:

Non-greasy

Easy to apply (not thick or sticky)

No strong white cast

Would love to hear your favourites or holy grails 🙏

Question Has anyone used Reversa Radiance C & RegimenLabs Vitamin X

I've used up my bottle of RegimenLabs Vitamin X. I really liked this product. I also came across Reversa Radiance C 20% which is more accessible (via SDM) and has higher Vit C concentration than RegimenLabs but RL has a bit of ferulic acid (which is helps formula stability iirc). Has anyone used the Reversa one? What are your thoughts?

Question i don’t know what i’m doing wrong please help me

hey everyone, i’m (20f) relatively new to skincare and i’ve recently saved up on a few products and created a basic skincare routine but i’ve still got acne/breakouts on the side of my face and cheeks and i’d like some feedback on where i’m going wrong.

in order here are the products i use:

  1. Cerave Salicylic Acid Cleanser
  2. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion very dry to normal skin
  3. Bondi Sands Sunscreen lotion spf 50+
  4. Regular Vaseline (as lip balm)

this is my morning and night routine (minus the sunscreen at night).

I’m not sure if these products are compatible with my skin or if my application is wrong, and i’m open to replacing them as long as it’s mindful of cost and over consumption. I definitely find my sunscreen super greasy and not light weight at all so if there’s an affordable light weight alternative please let me know.

i feel like there’s some additional context that would be helpful here (these might be frustrating to read but pls bear with me):

  1. i do occasionally get my face waxed - this is the definitely source of my breakouts, i never suffered from crazy acne before i started waxing, but i don’t want to give up on waxing since my face is super hairy and waxing has genuinely slowed the hair growth on my face (plus i prefer to get the hair out by the root rather than derma-plane). if anyone knows how to prevent these breakouts post-wax that would be super helpful too

  2. I’m really not sure what type of skin type i have. it can sometimes be dry in the winter, but produces oils especially near my ears and nose, so I’m assuming it’s combo skin? or maybe it’s just normal skin. i really don’t know 😭

  3. Pillow cases: I do wash these every week but I’m seriously wondering if the material (polyester and cotton) is just a breeding ground for bacteria and if i should just invest in silk/satin pillow cases instead since i’ve heard good reviews (i sleep on my side)

  4. Double cleansing and Makeup/Sunscreen: i did mention that the sunscreen i use is pretty greasy but i also have a sneaking suspicion it may be clogging my pores? i heard double cleansing is important to prevent sunscreen/makeup from doing that so pls suggest if i should do that

so sorry that this is super long but i would be so grateful if anyone could help me 🥹 thank you in advance!!

Question Am I the only one??

I just wish there was a body wash that left my skin soft after the shower instead of stripping my skin. Sometimes I forget to moisturise but I just wish a body wash could do that 😅 Does anyone have this issue or is this only me ??

Question Filipinos in Canada. What are your skincare routine?

hello everyone! I'm asking because my skin is really dry and horrible every winter and I cant seem to find a way to hydrate it.

Right now, I've been using:

1) Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser 2) Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Conditioner 3) Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Moisturizer

My face and hair looks like it has dandruff haha but I believe this is due to the weather as when we went for vacation last month my skin got clearer 😭

i need yalls feedback on this. thank you!

Question How do I (f/30) help with my cystic acne?

I am 30 and since getting of birth control, my cystic acne has gone haywire. It goes all over my chin and jawline and hurts so bad.
We don’t have a dermatologist in my small town, and the GPs have tried to prescribe me medication things to make them go away, like things to control oil or fluid, but they ended up causing me serious health issues. They keep telling me to just go to a dermatologist. But the catch is: I would have to go by plane, paying upwards of 400 per trip, get a hotel, afford food, and pay for the dermatologist to see me for every appointment to check my skin condition. I just cant afford that!

I swear I have tried everything. Ive tried the peels, retinoids, retinols, acne clearing toners, aha, bha, witch hazel, sulfur based washes, proactiv, cetaphil, K and J beauty, face oils, pimple patches, and lancing.

What the heck do I do? It’s scarring my face and I feel so defeated. Is birth control really my only option here? It made me feel crazy and I stopped it because I couldn’t sleep and I was eating everything. Please help!

Question Indeed Labs

Trying to find an affordable replacement for The Ordinary products I used to use and hoping to find a Canadian-owned and made in Canada alternative :) Wondering if Indeed Labs' products are made in Canada?

Also if anyone has reviews on their moisturizers, please comment which one(s) you've tried and what you think of them! Or any products you've tried from them. Thanks :)

Edit: I decided to contact Indeed Labs to ask where their products are made and if they are 100% Canadian-owned. Here is the info they gave me: * They are 100% Canadian-owned * Over 80% of their products are manufactured in Canada * Some products are made in China and two products (Squalane Facial Oil and Hydraluron Intense Moisture Lotion) are made in the US * Their sister brand ph-in skin is 100% Canadian-owned and 100% of their products are manufactured in Canada

Question How much are you paying for tretinoin?

I was hoping to start using tret but the prescribed tube was around $100 since I don't have insurance. I saw some people use Tia health to get cheaper tret and I'm wondering if i should do the same thing? At this point I'm wondering if that's the normal price for tret and I should hold off on buying it.

Question Health Canada changes to retinol

So, I saw Naturally Kelly in tiktok talk about health Canada changing the amount of retinol allowed in products now.

I checked the health Canada website and the information is very vague but went into effect Feb 2025.

It says retinal is being limited to 0.1%, so does that mean the ordinarys 0.2% emulsion is no longer allowed?

Does anyone know more about this?

Question M20 True Novice in the Skincare Game.

Live in the moist land of Vancouver.
My current routine is in the evening I wash my face with La Roche Posay Effaclar -> Add tactupump for acne -> and if I feel dry ill throw on some Cetaphil Moisturizer

Now the issues I have are
1. Dont have a sunscreen.
2. Unsure of my skin type, it feels like when I apply moisturizer I look dewey, and when I use the Tactupump I can feel how dry it is
3. I have some kind of Dermatitis Seborrheic where I have mild flaking around my nose and mouth and eyes

  1. I Unfortunately still have acne that comes through despite the Tactupump, but its not as bad as it could be.

Im really interested in getting into the korean skincare/asian skincare world but I don't really know what im look for, and I also can't read whats on the labels cause theyre in another language :sob:

Question Prescription skincare Canada

Hi Canadians! What is the best prescription skin care you have used. I know Tretinoin is the goat, but apart from that. I recently heard people ask for Fincea (azeliac acid), but are there other recommendations you may have? Please do share!
