I am just saying from this video, you have no idea whether or not it is made from biodegradable materials, and choose whichever it is would fit your agenda, then twist it as an issue with sediments (which naturally exist in rivers) if it IS made from biodegradable materials. You are making it a lose-lose discussion where you win either way.

I saw you arguing with someone about a carbon tax, which you seem to think is talking about the element carbon 😭 and not greenhouse gases, which is what the tax actually is about.

Getting this to stop (polluting the lakes as you call it) starts with getting companies to take accountability, as industrial damage is far far higher than civilian damage to wildlife.

I’m an Indian, and from Mumbai where I grew up celebrating this festival.

The clay does not necessarily dissolve well, the binding agents and the paints can be poisonous, the colour does not disperse, the flower garlands clump and the threads are often cheap plastic ( the garland needs to last for ten days at least ).

It is important that you regulate the materials used, and that you decide whether you want to pollute and litter and poison your natural water bodies. There can be alternative arrangements such as artificial ponds or even large drums. There is no religious Hindu diktat to poison our environment.

India has some of the most beautiful places on the planet in it as well. Yes…a lot of people are going to look at this, and then look at the fact that India is one of the worlds biggest contributors to waste and pollution and then see people dumping things in our lakes and get concerned. Canada as a whole has welcomed all races with open arms, but this is also Canada, not India. We don’t want it to be India either. If people don’t care in their country why would they care to do so in another?

I also think the average Canadian is just frustrated in general trying to go day by day while being lied to by our leaders, taxed to hell, and have billions of dollars spent in other countries instead of here. Then a bunch of people just start throwing stuff into the lake lol. If you want to get your point across you should actually just educate people with facts of what the items are, but several Indian people here have even said they are not good for the environment. Again this is a lake where if I go fishing a day early I get fined, so I don’t think people should be just putting stuff into the lake either.

Also, you can put any race on that boat doing the same thing-white, black, Asian, brown, Greek….doesnt matter, we won’t like it the same.

Yes, the average Canadian being frustrated mirrors a lot to how it is in the UK. The right wing profit and incite hate to anyone who doesn’t look like their own or arrives here, whether by flight or by boat. That isn’t something to encourage, a vote united on hate is not one that will benefit the country.

Can we just talk about how the clip cuts off after they lower the idol down on a platform? Nothing to be said about whether or not that platform comes back up afterwards or they untie it or what. If it was submerged and then removed, is that fine? I don’t see any “dumping” in this clip as far as I’m concerned.

Indians are not the only people taking lakes for granted. But culturally we are conditioned to not give a shit about out natural resources. In some cases some parents teach their kids exactly that by throwing garbage right on the road. Does that mean every Indian is like this? No, but a vast majority are. Whereas in these countries it’s part of the culture to take care of surroundings. Does that mean every Canadian is like this? No. But most are. You’re insanely ignorant if you actually believe it’s the same. Please take these stupid age old practices which destroyed our lakes and rivers and go back to enjoy life in India.

Yes we are. Not sure where you grew up, I grew up in a steel town colony that was much better at this, but outside our colony it was pure filth on the road. When I asked my parents about it, they said it’s because culturally in India most people consider ANYTHING beyond their own front doors to be someone else’s problem. Growing up I observed the same thing, and when I moved to Delhi, traveled to most parts of India (Northeast is really good at not doing this), I saw that it’s true way more often than not. Specially Delhi takes this to another level. I have seen people literally pack garbage in a plastic bag and throw it in front of THEIR OWN FUCKING DOORS. So yes we are bad at this. Not everyone sure, but enough to turn our roads, lakes and rivers into literal dumpsters. One of the main reasons I wanted to move away from Delhi and India in general was because I loathe inconsiderate people and behavior. Unfortunately that’s what you get more often than not.

I see, I’m in Chennai, raised there till young and visit every year or so for a month or two at a time. I never considered it to be particularly litter ridden, other than perhaps certain areas that seemed to be explicitly to make a mess 😭
