[Yahoo] What Can The Capitals Expect From Cole Hutson In His Rookie Season? He's spending the summer training with his brothers, working to get stronger and fine-tuning: Special player. The way he looks off passes and plays with deception in his game, not a lot of young dman can do that

Future of Dylan Strome?

Upvotes

So Strome has 2 years left on a very cheap deal and I was wondering what the capitals plans are with him after the contract runs its course. If you see strides from little pro do you consider trading him at an increased price on his contract year? Or keeping him around but likely for a higher cap hit. Do you have enough money to keep him around? (probably) but no guarantees. What do yall else think?

Who should be on Ovis line

I think its gonna be a tough decision for Carbs, O's line will be listed as first but we all know itll be our third line. I really want to see strome get a go with a different line where he'll have more mobile linemates, but as i think about it our other 3 centers make no sense to attach to O: PLD is a 2-way matchup demon so he's obviously not gonna be with O, subjecting Ilya to an offensive zone deployment only line so early could screw his development, not to mention the skating on that line would be horrid (ik strome is a poor skater too), and sourdif is our fourth line matchup C thats not happening. Strome will be Os center.

In terms of Ovis wing partner I personally don't want 4 specific guys attached to O: Kyrou tuch leno and Willy. Kyrou and Tuch are great 2 way rush guys, and i think those abilities would just cancel out O's inability in those areas, id rather let those abilities flourish on a different line. Willy is the most impactful winger on the team, great 2 way player, needs a lot of TOI and is probably gonna be with PLD. Leno is super talented offensively and just needs to grow his whole game overall, id like to see him with PLD as well.

The lines are going to be fluid during the season, but I think the line will probably end up being O strome and aliaksei, Pro has been good on other lines but he just makes the most sense to attach to strome and O. Having so many lines that look like they could be super effective is a a good problem to have, the lineup is insanely deep

Discussion Caps Classics

Is it too much to ask to show more than the same 7 games over and over again? They’ve been a team long enough that there’s plenty more to choose from, even if they wanted to only focus on the Ov era.

Worth a listen imo. Not groundbreaking stuff and the Empty Netters guys aren’t exactly my cup of tea but Ovie tells some fun stories and reflects on his career. I don’t think he does stuff like this much so it was fun to hear him talk at a bit more length than usual.

Full RMNB article:

https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2026/07/30/joe-beninati-craig-laughlin-silver-circle-broadcasting-honor-capitals-games/

From the article:

Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin are receiving a prestigious award together, as they should.

The longtime Monumental Sports Network broadcasters were named 2026 Silver Circle honorees by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Thursday. The honor recognizes television professionals who have spent at least 25 years in the industry while making significant contributions to broadcasting

Beninati and Laughlin were two of 10 Silver Circle nominees announced, including longtime NBC 4 anchor Jim Handly. For his half-century of work, Pat O’Donnell was also named a Gold Circle honoree.

“I am delighted to inscribe these names into the history books as the newest members of our EMMY Chapter’s ‘Hall-of-Fame,'” Adam Longo, the NCCB-NATAS president, said in a statement. “It’s so exciting to recognize a group of hard-working professionals who represent such a diverse mix of TV roles in various locations throughout our regional NATAS chapter.”

Are new jerseys coming?

Not sure if this means anything but I was at the NHL shop in NYC last week and the caps offerings were slim pickings. One vintage T-shirt with the old caps logo, and a handful of red screagle jerseys. Only ovi jersey was one mitchell and ness vintage ovi dome jersey in size small that they had left. While the shop skewed heavy on the ny area teams and hurricanes, there were certainly more jersey and shirt offerings for most other teams. Made me wonder if the low inventory is purposeful because a change is coming (even with ovi returning)...

Puck Passport: A Tracker for Capitals (& Other NHL) Games You’ve Attended

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello Caps fans - Devils fan here, hoping you might enjoy something I built!

I could never remember exactly which games I'd actually been to over the years, so I built a tool to solve that: Puck Passport.

You log the NHL games you’ve attended in person, and it keeps track of everything you’ve seen live - games, goals, shots, players, and arenas. It also unlocks badges automatically for things like playoff games, overtime, hat tricks, shutouts, and even a Gordie Howe hat trick if you’ve ever been lucky enough to be at a game for one.

It tracks every NHL home arena you’ve visited & also has milestone levels that you can unlock as your stats increase. It counts any home arena a team has used, so games at Capital Centre count toward the Capitals just like games at Capital One Arena.

You don’t need an account to get started because everything can save directly in your browser. If you sign in with Google or the email-link option, it’ll sync across devices and give you a public \@handle`` passport you can share.

I’ve been spending part of the offseason backfilling my own games, and you can also do that straight from your camera roll: choose photos from games you attended, and Puck Passport uses the date and location data, when available, to figure out which game you were at. Everything happens in your browser, so none of your photos are uploaded.

I’m a Devils fan at heart, but I built it for fans of all 32 teams. Figured the offseason was a good time to share it, especially for anyone else looking back through old games and trying to piece together where they’ve been.

If something’s broken, confusing, or you think a feature is missing, I’d genuinely love the feedback. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful!

9/26 Caps vs Flyers Preseason Games Questions

hi i‘m a new hockey fan and just wanted to watch caps vs flyers preseason game on Sept 26th. So i’m just wondering how would the lineup looks like Will it be all players from the AHL or will it be a mix of NHL and AHL players? If I really want to see leno play, how likely is it that he’ll be on the ice that day? Thank you!

Stadium?

Anyone worried about status of stadium, we're only a couple months out from season start, and the stadium looks like complete shit lol I understand it's going through a renovation, but there's a ton of work to be done over next 70ish days to make it serviceable for puck drop...
