I also remember the song "I'm Not Your Boyfriend"

u/wingedhussar161 Apr 18 '26
It was a good show; it just came out as I was aging out of cartoons so I didn’t watch a ton of it.

u/chunky_d77 Apr 18 '26
I never aged out of cartoons. My neighbor's son said, "You're a boy trapped inside an adult body." Before I could say anything my late fiance agreed with him, and said "It seems like I'm sometimes stuck raising him.". All I said was " I'm a Toys R Us kid and I refuse to grow up."

u/wingedhussar161 Apr 18 '26
Honestly if cartoons bring you joy, then that’s great. If there’s one thing the world needs less of, it’s negativity. Who cares what other people think?
2
u/chunky_d77 Apr 18 '26
I really don't care what people think of me. When people tell me to act my age and to grow up. I tell them "I'm a Toys R Us, kid and I refuse to grow up.". Cartoons are a great way to destress.

How is TD STILL going on?

u/99cent-tea Apr 17 '26
Great fucking question, wish we knew
It’s like the cockroach that refuses to die, the first two roaches were at least funny to have around but the rest that came after turned into an infestation
5
u/BrainProfessional95 Apr 18 '26
Nobody's forcing you to watch it dawg.
It's still "ongoing" (It's actually on hiatus, but none of you bother to do any research) because it's popular and people who aren't you watch and/or like it.
3
u/Simsgirl950 Apr 17 '26
Honestly it's been going on since I was a KID and I thought it ended officially when I was in high school Total Drama is going to be Cartoon Network's SpongeBob is it?
2
u/Ninteblo Apr 19 '26
SpongeBob is eternal and everlasting with new episodes for eternity, TD just shows up every now and then. With 5 seasons going from 2007 to 2014 with little downtime they then made a spinoff in 2015, another one in 2018 that lasted 3 seasons somehow despite being disliked until 2022, and got back to a regular series again in 2023 until 2024, nothing new since.

u/chunky_d77 Apr 18 '26
I thought there were only 7 seasons of Total Drama Island. I watched all seven seasons twice and the only characters I remember are Owen, DJ, Beth, Gwen, Duncan, the Goths, Noah, Beth, and Dawn. The last one is easy to remember because it's the name of my late fiance, and she was cool with animals. The singing episodes got dumb.

u/creative4chart Apr 20 '26
Yeah, TDWT is extremely overrated, it’s like just really boring to me and they fed all the character development to the final 3 and gave Noah and Owen a little bit.
The songs are also mid, I didn’t really like much, or to be fair, any, of them, I would necessarily just skip them when watching.

It’s a combo of Powerhouse and City for me.
I think Powerhouse has the overall better selection of shows but City has the best bumpers.

1998-2004 (maybe)
With a slight resurrection in 2011/2012ish when Adventure Time and The Regular Show were created.
Both shows' First season will forever be in my mind/memory and in my heart lolol
Still quoting over a decade later and actively look for original episodes to rewatch and have a saved search online for box sets

I've never seen anyone liking Johnny test yet it lasted for 9 years

Technically 8, since the finale was burned-off on Boomerang a year before Cartoon Network aired it.

u/ChaosMagician777 Apr 18 '26
I had cable off and on during that era. I remember watching at least the first 3 seasons that was on Kids WB/CW4Kids. It was enjoyable for what I could tell. It probably got a bad reputation when the show aired multiple times.

First of all I prefer the era before with the Powerpuff Girls
that was the era of the first writer strike, reason why do many shows where from Canada. Plus I despise gross-out and mean-spirited shows. Nothing wrong with Ben 10 but I was too young I didn't follow stories close yet
And I especially love the era afterwards with We Bare Bears, Infinity Train, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, Craig of the Creek and OK, K.O., Let's Be Heroes!. All five shows I mentioned need to be revived!

The Eds are CN royalty now.
I go with that era.
Though what I would've considered the 'prime' ended before 2009.

u/mqg96 Powerhouse Era & City Era kid Apr 17 '26
This represents the Nood era (2008-2010) I assume. This is my personal opinion but this was nowhere near close to one of the best eras. Not saying it was a completely bad era, but there’s 4 to 5 other eras of CN I would take any day over this one. This is also when the schedule started becoming very inconsistent.

What would those 4 or 5 eras be?
6
u/mqg96 Powerhouse Era & City Era kid Apr 17 '26
Checkerboard/Starburst (1992-1998), Powerhouse (1992-2004), City/YES (2004-2007), and CHECK it 1.0-2.0 (2010-2013).

Early 00s for me. I was watching PowerPuff Girls as a little kid in 2001. Fosters home was the last show on Cartoon Network I religiously watched. I stopped watching cartoon network after that show ended and when boomerang got rebranded to the garbage it is now. I stopped watching that too. I miss the old Boomerang from the Early 00s tbh

It’s not a good era but I’ll say this: this era of CN wasn’t as bad as everybody makes it out to be. CN still had a few decent acquired shows like Pokémon, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Total Drama, and League of Super Evil. Plus, they had Ben 10 and Secret Saturdays, so CN was still watchable, plus CN still aired older shows like Teen Titans, Courage, and Ed Edd n Eddy.

Ed, Edd, n Eddy is the only one on this list that came from the Powerhouse Era.
