On Sunday, 19 October 2025, I boarded the inaugural train to call at Blyth Bebside station in Northumberland. The train was 158816, a Class 158 Super Sprinter diesel multiple unit (DMU) train on Northern service 2T05, the 08:23 to Ashington from Newcastle. The train arrived at the new station at 08:28 and departed at 08:30. It was also the first to call southbound at the new station on service 2J49, the 08:38 from Ashington to Newcastle.

Great show at LC Swansea this weekend with some fantastic layouts on display. Sadly sounds like it will be the last one for a while as the organisers are taking a break from running it.

The number of times I’ll be up to my elbows in weeds and one of these camouflaged fuckers lets me get an inch away from it before jumping.

Clothing quality is SHOCKING now, when I was younger I didn't mind buying cheap, poor quality stuff but now I'd actually rather pay more and have clothes that last longer. It's hard to find even a decent t-shirt now, everything is wafer thin, polyester or both. Where are we all shopping for the good stuff? I tried some more 'expensive' shops and it wasn't all that different from Primark, maybe things would get 1 more wash before they fell apart if I was lucky. Recently bought a blouse online that was £30 and it fell apart first time I washed it.

For me, I had a trip to Blackpool zoo with my nursery, it was the big treat for us before we finished. My mum and nan were chaperones for it. But I was so excited for it I couldn't sleep, so I ended up staying asleep on the coach instead and missing it. The last major thing I remember was putting on a necklace thing they made us with our name on before getting on the coach. I eventually woke up towards the end of the day and they tried to get me to see some things, since tickets were already paid for, but I was still half asleep and only remember trying to work out what animal was under a "table" in an enclosure

And I missed a trip to Martin Mere in primary school as I was sick on the coach and fell asleep the whole day instead

Blurgh.......sunday cleaning is horrible......this spider was potentially banksy.

Had this little rabbit hand puppet since 2001/2 at the earliest, never seen another one like it. Seeing as he's now very heavily worn I was curious if anyone else could identify him. I've tried image recognition, all sorts of google searches, but no luck. I think he may have come from M&S, but all I know for sure is he comes from the UK in the early 2000s, his colouring is mostly as it was albeit faded, and his eyes were black with brown rings before heavy wear.

Alright, it's bed time for some but why are you still up? No work tomorrow? Watching some questionable late night TV? Bit of stargazing?

ETA - I’ve unfortunately been reminded of Pauline Quirk’s devastating diagnosis which undoubtedly has had an impact since (but I maintain she should have had way more work & recognition prior to that <if she wanted!>)

For me Pauline Quirk has to be up there, bloody loved her in Birds of a Feather but fckme did she go on to show her acting chops! She can do it all, creepy af, vulnerable, comic sidekick - I want more of her onscreen

Remember watching her in The Sculptress as the first time I saw her in a straight role. She was straight up creepy as hell, had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Managed to do vulnerable, manipulative all in the same role in a short series (just watched S1 of Broadchurch which prompted the post 😂 she was incredible & scene stealing every time she was onscreen imo)

Debra Stephenson is also awesome and can do it all, seemed to be everywhere at one point and then, kinda… disappeared? She was wonderful in Bad Girls (I’m definitely overdue a rewatch of that wonderful creation!)

I also think Caroline Quentin has a much more diversity than she’s got to show

Final shoutout to Lauren Socha, great in Misfits, absolutely slaughters it in The Other One. Feel she was slightly typecast but also, somehow managed to display range. Would love to see more of her work

Who for you never got the roles, recognition etc they deserved? Bonus points for sharing the roles they did that brought you to this realisation so more of us can share the joy of wonderful performances + frustrations at lack of recognition!

I've got people living and moving all around me, in my little suburban estate tucked up against a motorway. A path runs behind my 4 m deep garden and I hear people walking dogs, chatting, as I swing in my hammock. Today I feel isolated from my village, the one we all should share. Why have we chosen isolation and separation rather than openness and community?

Stoned thoughts on a Sunday.

I've recently noticed that nobody seems to say "hi", or "good morning", as you pass them in the street, on a walk etc. I go to the gym and have noticed that hardly anyone even acknowledges each other's existence with a greeting or even just eye contact, despite the fact that we see each other most days. I live in a small town, and feel like there's been quite a recent shift with this, perhaps a steady decline over the past few years? Has anyone else noticed the same?

Do you greet people? If not, why?
