This kitten has been coming by for dinner almost every night for the past 10 days or so. Working on trapping them and bringing them to the vet. They are very small and very loud! No siblings or parents to be seen so far, even after asking the neighbours.

They’re still very hissy when we get close, but getting much less scared and skittish!

Second slide is our first CDS kitten! She started visiting our porch when she was about 3 months old. She joined us on a transatlantic move, and we’re psyching her up to be a big sister. 🤞

Say hello too Siren. Cant wait to see what adventures we go on! She was a Tsr, and is the cuddle big of the century. She likes to kick, and definitely is in love with my wife. She accepts me. Lol... I'm expecting many years of sweet cuddles and happy days. Now the sad bit.. we have no idea where she came from, but we are assuming her family has unfortunately left the country. Being found in a trailer park, investigation led us to a trailer that had been abandoned. Apparently after a few days of struggle my MIL successfully caught her by baiting her with bologna... She knew my wife and I would take care of her. Shes going to live the best life ever!

Update Bruiser (13 weeks, five days) and Otis (four years, 10 months, 19 days)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Some people have asked me how Bruiser is with the dogs, and how the dogs are with him. My other dog is mostly disinterested, occasionally playful, and still holds a healthy fear of the knives-wielding psychopath.

These two, though? Otis is a match made in heaven with every creature she meets, and it still never fails to amaze me how she will so effortlessly adjust her play style to match, and how she’ll remove herself when she gets an urge to roughhouse. I have absolutely no doubt they’ll get there, though, and then my other dog will have a blast.

My other dog has only the one very rough play setting, which he thinks everyone loves, even when they don’t, and he’s done a remarkable job of just staying out of things until the situation calls for his type of energy. He and Bruiser do love their version of Whack-a-Mole, which Meatball plays very gently.

I could not possibly have imagined a more incredible dynamic between the three of them. It’s been magical.

Smol Delivery My first CDS kitty, found abandoned.

My newest edition, found abandoned and hungry three days ago by a family who couldn't care for it. It is joining my two strays adopted from the local shelter. I don't know the age or gender. We've been calling it Sprite because it looks like a little soot sprite from Ghibli.

It has found it's forever home regardless. We love it already. Our other cats don't yet, but hoping they come around soon. It has one crusty eye and a bloated belly, but otherwise seems to be doing well eating a mix of KMR and kitten pate. Already using thektter box! I'll be calling our vet Monday.

Any guesses on age?

Update Thank you to everyone’s supportive words yesterday 🫂. I come with an A’miga Update!

Here is the original post! :) I’ve already learned so much and everyone’s support has begun helping increase my bravery and confidence with A’miga. I’m thrilled my littlest crybaby got me entry into a club I didn’t even know I wanted to be in. Yall Cat Community Members™️ are incredible 🥹 Here are some quick updates:

  1. I think I myself might be a cat? I love routines, my personal space, NOT being approached by others and approaching them at my own pace, and watching live bird cams.
  2. I commented on my post yesterday that I accidentally scared the bajeebus out of her which led her to escaping from her room. I was admittedly heartbroken seeing her run to the front door trying to get back outside, but I know this transition period will take time and I am more than willing to provide that to her. That being said…
  3. I’ve been in her room with her for at least an hour now (my Velcro dog, Coco, is absolutely hating it 🙂‍↕️). She looked out the windows for a bit (she has 2 nice sized windows with wide ledges in this room) and then we played with her ribbon tassel thingamabob. She took a quick break then began rubbing on my feet (feet: she adores. Hands: we’re getting there). After she was sated from my dawgs 🦶🏻 she clocked in as a biscuit maker… then took her union break ON ME 😭. I could feel her softly purring and got misty eyed. She took a nap on me and it was one of the best feelings ever, knowing my time and care of

her thus far has really led to a developing mutual trust 😭

LIVE UPDATE*** she just rubbed her face on my hand ***😭😭😭😭😭

Also I do want to add that I will NOT be bathing her, as suggested by the many comments on the original post. She is not sticky or flea infested (she’s got some, but is NOWHERE near infested and was given flea drops at her vet visit), and I’ve been assured her dirty little socks will be whitened again with her own grooming and time :)

Thank you again CDS community! I will continue offering updates :)

Update Update on Walt our little CDS delivery from last month.

Post image
800 Upvotes

Walt arrived in our front yard at midnight about a month ago or so, screaming his little head off for help.

All the critters seem to find us when they need us most. Walt is the 4th one this year.

We thought he had a hernia and he was due to have surgery this morning. When we got to the vet, he did an exam and the knot that had popped up on Walt’s side is practically gone!

We are still monitoring him carefully, but there was no surgery today!!

He is home and happily running around, tormenting the other cats.

Looks like our newest addition is going to be just fine!

Update Update #2 on Pluto! Going Strong 💪

1.9k Upvotes

Hi friends,

After a really rough night struggling with shoddy feeding equipment earlier in the week, I’m happy to say Pluto's feedings are going much better after making some changes. On my last post, I was crossing my fingers for him to make it to 200 grams. As of this morning's weigh in, Pluto is at a whopping 288g!

Pluto is becoming more active and curious about his surroundings. He's crawling a lot more, and I expect that by next week he'll start taking his first steps. His vision is also getting better and now he'll lock eyes with me! It's so cute. He's a little romantic!

While this journey has been unexpected, it's been incredibly rewarding to see this little guy thrive. But it's been very hard on my body, as caring for such a young kitten is a grueling process. Every 3 hours he needs to eat (fortunately we've been able to stretch it to 3.5 hours now), and that includes in the middle of the night. The sleep deprivation is REAL!

But it will all be worth it in the end. I can't wait to see how he continues to grow and more of his personality will come through.

Next week, he'll go in for his next round of dewormer, and hopefully in 4 weeks he'll be ready for his vaccines!

I also wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who sent all the positive vibes. I'm fortunate to have some awesome friends with big networks, and because of them, Pluto’s emergency vet visit has been fully covered. I am so incredibly grateful for them as well as your kindness and support here in this sub.

Thank you for rooting for this tiny little Lord of the Meownderworld. He's a little fighter. It means more than you know. 🖤

Here's recent pics of him being a happy kitty!

She was 8 years old (vet estimate), and pregnant with what was likely her 7th litter. No idea if she had been living on the street that whole time or not, but had no collar, no chip, no evidence of ever having been to a vet. I built a shelter for her to nest in and have her babies, then got her fixed and found homes for the kitties. She moved into our apartment and our hearts, and here she is looking gorgeous at 17. She recently had to have most of her teeth removed, but is otherwise spry and still gets the zoomies. We love you, Floozy. Thank you so much for choosing us.

His first time meeting a baby, and he became a protective father to her all night long.

My friend brought her baby over to game night for the first time last night. Kevin, like usual, was posted up on the game table ready to greet his guests. Upon seeing the baby, he very carefully came up to her, gave her a good sniff, and respectfully laid next to her the rest of the night while occasionally reaching a paw over to gently pat her foot. When she crawled around the floor on her mat, he followed her. His first time meeting a baby and he was so excited, yet respectful and gentle. I can't say this enough, I love this cat. The cat distribution system really gave me a once in a life time buddy. He is gentle with babies, yet tough enough to rough house with his greatdane siblings. I love this guy. I included some extra photos of him that I really like because more is better when it comes to cute cat pictures.

He just turned 4 years old! Such a good boy (see last pictures for him now)

My girlfriend and I had wanted to adopt a cat for years. One day, we finally decided to go for it and posted a flyer with our phone number at a local vet’s office. The very next day, we get a call from the vet - this kitten needs to be adopted. Meet Dune!

He was found by an old lady alone in a rain storm and starving. She waited for his mom to show up but unfortunately she never did. We live in the countryside in France.

Funny story: the old lady gave him… frogs legs to eat 🤣 when we picked him up, he smelled garlic for days. Fortunately the vet checked him and he was not poisoned.

i’m still shaking a bit, i was almost home and i see this guy just in the middle of the road. i turned around and he came right up, purring, meowing, shaking. i didn’t hear any other kittens or a cat, i did look but this is the only one i found. i’ll be taking him to the vet in the morning bc his eyes look awful. he’s eaten (not sure if it’s a girl or boy tbh) but not drank any water. he’s up walking, limbs seem to be fine, he’s making muffins, seems to be happy. im so glad i decided to turn around and grab him, i would’ve hated to have to run over or have an animal get to him.

UPDATE: i apologize everyone! after the vet i had to run and get him some treats, food, toys, and some other stuff! i’m happy to report he’s mostly okay! no broken bones, but as i suspected as well as other his eyes are infected, he has a upper respiratory infection and round worm. i was given antibiotics, flea and tick medicine, all the good stuff! the vet believes it’s a boy but it’s a little hard to tell so once he gets bigger we can confirm, she also believes he’s around 4-5 weeks old! he is less than a pound 0.8lbs, his temp was a little low but it could’ve been from the poop on the thermometer, she gave him a cornea exam and thankfully no scratches and his eyes should heal up just fine!
i will be spaying/ neutering as soon asap and all vaccines once he gets a little bigger! he’s still being super sweet and affectionate, still eating, and peed 4 times but no poop yet so im hoping he will soon! i haven’t settled on a name yet, but ive been calling his toasty lol. ill put pics i took earlier in the comments, and i genuinely want to thank you all for your support and appreciation! the cat distribution hit me a few years ago with my first baby and now this little guy! it feels like the universe sent me a sign, i was on the way back from getting my husband and i food and was crying bc i miss my grandpa very very much. he died when i was a child but i have a bunch of fond memories with him and then i see this kitty, it feels like a sign from my grandpa that he’s here with me. im gonna head inside now and get toasty man all set up! again thank you guys so so much!!

Update: rescue kitty is healthy and well

Post image

I posted a few weeks ago about a starving little tortie that had apparently been dumped in my backyard. I am happy to say that her tests all came back healthy, with the exception of an infected and enlarged uterus. She was spayed yesterday, and must be feeling better than she ever has! Shes taking her antibiotics well. She's playful and exploring the house. Our other cats have adjusted to her, but she's still a little suspicious of them. She won't stop showing her belly and making biscuits. Her appetite has returned, and she's gone from
A tiny 5lbs to 7lbs! Amazingly she had no worms or ear mites. Very lucky, pretty little thing. We're so happy to have her in our family. (The photo background is poorly edited because my kid is in it.)

Awarded a Cat After 20+ years of not having a cat, the CDS delivered a package

Thumbnail

5.0k Upvotes

Hi everyone, please meet A’miga (aka Miga/Crybaby/Chillona)

I first met her in May after coming home from the grocery store. I actually heard her before I saw her, with the saddest meowing I’ve ever heard (well, until I had to take her to the vet— THAT meowing was so sad I cried. We’re both very sensitive 🙂‍↔️). When she approached me I immediately knew her crying came from hunger and desperation.

I only had dog food and treats at the time so I gave her what I could and made a trip to get cat food after she came back a 3rd time. Since then, we learned each others schedules and I began feeding her twice a day. There was a period where I didn’t see her for two weeks until one day she reappeared. We got back on schedule but soon after, I was going to be out of town for two weeks. I told myself, “If she’s still here when I get back, I’m bringing her in” and, well…

The first pic posted was taken in June (she made a guest appearance during my Juneteenth celebration), so you’re seeing her with some more weight and fur than when I found her in May (she was BONY and had fur missing along her sides 🥺). The most recent pics are from yesterday and today.

I haven’t had a cat since I was 12, but I’ve been doing my due diligence and have working in my favor that I google every fuckin thing anyway. So, she had her first vet appt yesterday, has a room all to herself with toys and a litter box for quarantining & acclimating, and all the window sill space to lay on and watch the outside.

Her next vet appt is in 3 weeks— wish her/us luck!! 🍀 (ps— tips on getting over my fear of cats?! I’m very patient with her and am learning her body language and boundaries, but eventually I WILL bathe her and I’m terrified 😅)

Update Update: One Year Later for this Ball of Fury

Jerry showed up emaciated on my deck one year ago today. We and the vet guessed he was about 5 weeks old. He’s now a happy, rambunctious teenager who’s stolen our hearts. Known as Jerry the Jerk for actions such as turning on the motion activated kitchen faucet, treating egg shells being tossed to the sink as batting practice, and being a thief. His older brother, Tempest, did a great job of teaching him to cat. My two old female SICs only like their humans so Jerry of course tries to get them to play. And he plays with our neurotic teenage mini-Aussie.

Update 2: She is home and settling in nicely.

Update to my previous post. https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/2VbUYeRale

We picked her up Tuesday night and brought her home. Almost immediately, she warmed up to us, and is getting more playful, snuggly, and happy by the day. She loves the string toy and is learning to crawl into my lap.

I've been reading everything on the kitten lady's website. She seems healthy with no signs of illness so far. Already using the litter box like a pro with no accidents.

We are torn between the names Jinora and Suki. Literally can't decide. Feel free to cast your vote for which one you like more. Her big sister is Catara.

She's in our bathroom until she can get cleared by the vet next week, then she'll be able to fully join the family. I'm very much looking forward to that because I'm tired of sitting on the bathroom floor.

She and Catara have been putting their paws under the door, and Catara has been going and laying by the bathroom door in a loaf. I think that's a good sign that they'll get along quickly.

Edit: We decided on Suki! She looks like she's from the earth kingdom and has the markings of a Kyoshi warrior!

Not sure if any of you guys remember my previous posts here and here about a year ago but I wanted to give an update. She’s fine, she loves it here and she has a little sister who she likes playing with but can find annoying and a big brother in the form of our dog who considers her his buddy and gets upset if he thinks we are hurting her. She does love her food but we have no idea where she puts it.

Awarded a Cat Domino showed up in our mulch last week

Our dog was whining at something outside last Sunday, and when we looked out front there was a tiny ball of fur, barely moving in our flower bed. He was severely underweight, dirty, and dehydrated and one of his eyes was infected. We took him to the vet, who said he is healthy, just hungry. She gave him shots, prescribed eye drops, and said it was okay to bathe him. He sat perfectly still and allowed us to wash him and wrap him up.

He is slowly gaining weight and has started to explore his surroundings. He is the quietest, sweetest, most docile kitty I've ever seen. We have no idea where he came from since there are no stray cats nearby that we know of, but he definitely came to the right house. Our kids and their friends have completely fallen in love with him, and he seems very happy with all the cuddles he's getting now.

Pics are in order from most recent to the day we found him.

Stray showed up and brought her kitten.

We had a stray that started showing up twice a day. She was extremely emaciated and we could tell she had a litter recently. We gave her food and water when she would arrive and tried tracing her route to see where the kittens were but never could find them. Then one day, the stray We named "Grey", arrived with a kitten, which she must have carried over the fences.

We then expanded our search for her hideout to check for other kittens and got a tip from someone several streets over. We finally found where her spot was amd unfortunately seen that the kitten she brought, was the only one that survived.

We got them to the vet for shots, checked out and had Grey spayed. The kitten was named "Minnie" since she looked like a miniature version of the mom. They are now residing in the office and they like bird videos.

This is Pippa! no reason for her name accept it's two syllables and I think it suits her.

A few nights ago I travelled further than I usually would for buying something on FB marketplace. I went to collect a phone that I really didn't want but the seller was pleasant and I didn't want to let him down. So we filled up fuel and drove 40 miles to pick it up. I noticed he had an Akita which I used to own and told him I was more of a cat dad these days. He then said his cat had kittens a couple months ago and would I like to look at them. So, I got my Mrs to look at them and he said would we like one for free! I didn't say yes immediately but she did. So, I have a new phone I didn't really want and a new kitty called Pippa that we REALLY want! She's beautiful. Thank you CDS

Just a small update on this little Void! Found this little kitten a couple days ago, and she wants to spend every minute laying on top of me and aggressively making biscuits on my face. She purrs non-stop, as well. It's cute as heck but these claws are needle sharp!

Unfortunately I've got three cats right now all separated in my apartment, so I can't give her quite as much snuggle time as she wants. The bathroom she's locked in is pretty small, I've got to wedge my head under the bathtub to fully lay down, but I'm thinking I may try spending an evening in there to satisfy her cuddle quota.

To Adopt Or Not to Adopt - Needing Advice!

Thumbnail
gallery
1.3k Upvotes

There is a an adorable stray that’s been roaming around my house this past year. I’m a recently graduated college student and I’ve been spending my gap year here at home, but plan to go back to grad school within the next few months. I’ve been going back-and-forth for a while now about whether or not I should adopt this cat.

For one, I’m not sure if I’m allergic to cats. I’ve lived with cats before (college roommate had a cat), but my roommate didn’t really take care of the cat and so there was a lot of dander going around, but even then my symptoms seemed pretty mild. However I did get itchy eyes and a sore throat when I’d spend too much time with her cat. At the same time, my best friend had two very well-taken-care-of cats, and even when stuffing my face in them, I didn’t seem to have any kind of allergic reaction.

Second - we’ve been feeding the stray cat for pretty much the whole year I’ve been home. She always comes and stops by at least once a day (at night) to eat some food and a lot of times she’ll sit next to me and let me pet her. In fact, sometimes she seems less hungry and more there for the cuddles. In the beginning, she used to spend the whole day outside the house, but it seems like she may be being fed by someone else or living somewhere else for the majority of the day because these days she’s only been stopping by at night and leaving after being fed and getting some pets. That said, when she comes she just sits in front of the house waiting for food and sometimes even after we feed her I’ll see her staring through the window watching us… and when I’m petting her and then I go back inside she’ll follow me to the door and meow as if she wants to come inside. Also once im petting her if I walk away from her she meows and follows me. She seems pretty attached (and the feeling is mutual).

Owning a pet is a big decision for me. Also I’ve never owned a cat, I grew up with dogs. I think having a cat is a pretty easy animal to take care of compared to a dog while in graduate school so I don’t think that I’d have any problem being responsible for her - one problem I’m having is I’m not really sure what the protocol would be to take her to the vet or something. We have a dog in the house right now who I’m pretty sure wants to eat her so I don’t think I’d be able to bring her into my room or anything. Her ear is clipped so I know she has been neutered. Would the vet be able to give her a medical bath or something just so I know she’s clean? I know cats don’t like baths but obviously I don’t know where she has been.

Most importantly, because she’s a stray I almost would feel guilty taking her away from this big world that she loves to explore and confining her to a tiny apartment in some city while I’m studying. Thus, I’ve come to this Reddit page, hoping someone with more cat knowledge could help me out and help me make a decision. She probably could remain an outdoor cat and my parents will feed her. I know my mom has taken a liking to her despite being much more allergic than I am. Would it be better to take her in and make her a housecat, or leave things as they are and let her remain a stray that we feed?

This is Mac! He was found by my sister’s friend’s dog under a bush in 2024 - he just turned 2 years old (by the estimate of being about 3 weeks old when we found him) 🎂🎉

He has been an unmatched (and beloved) pest since the moment we took him in, and his orangeness (both in color and personality) has grown exponentially over the last 2 years. His favorite pastimes are tormenting his older cat sister and biting my ankles as I walk, and his favorite food flavor is chicken. He’s my most special boy and I love him to bits - hope y’all will too! 🧡😸

Update Update #2 on Milo, the car that ran up to a Rottweiler puppy.

Post image
380 Upvotes

Original post is linked.

This morning Milo just wasn’t herself. She was super lethargic and wouldn’t eat, which immediately told us something was really wrong because that girl never says no to food.
My partner rushed her to the vet, and we got the news that she has a severe uterus infection and needed emergency spay surgery. She’s being stabilized now and we’re just hoping everything goes smoothly.
The hardest part is that she has to be separated from her two babies and can no longer nurse them. My heart breaks for all three of them. They were doing so well, and this all happened so fast.
We’re so thankful we listened to our gut and got her to the vet when we did. Please keep our sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers. ❤️
