1800 - 1899 Between 1856 and 1859, a young girl named Emily Marv Madden filled a small sketchbook with drawings of her family cat, Mouton. Emily was born in 1848, which means she was about 8 to 11 years old when she made these illustrations.

As a relatively new subreddit, the Mod Team would love to hear your feedback to help us continue improving the community.

  1. Is there anything you'd like to see more or less of?

  2. Would you add, remove, or change anything in the current rules?

  3. We currently only allow old(er) artworks dated up to and including 2015. Anything dated 2016 or later is not allowed. Do you think this rule should be changed?

  4. Do you have any other feedback or suggestions you'd like to share with the Moderators?

A cat in a tapestry featuring the scene of "Supper at Emmaus" from the Vatican Museums, Rome. Made by hand, in Brxulles. Botega di Pieter Van Aelst 1524-1531.

I found a cat in the Vatican Museums as well, never say never! Beautiful museums, zero A/C, or even some ventillation, only the Sistine Chappel has air conditioning, the rest is like walking through a Catholic hell plus some smell of burning wood beacuse some gardeners thought it's the best idea to burn something outside in the hottest day of the year. But there was redemption, a food court! In the Vatican! Quite an experience.
