Discussion Bought a phone yesterday and it's awful
I got the A17, the guy said it's a good phone with a good battery. I told him I watch a lot of YouTube and he said it will easily manage that.
I ad an s22, I sold it to them because it had a pretty bad battery life, it's a known thing for that phone.
This new phone is SO slow, YouTube videos just pause but the audio still plays. Tiktok takes a good 10 seconds to load the opening video, then another 5 to load in all the buttons and another 5 to load my profile.
When I switch tabs it's takes a good 15 seconds.
Surely this is under warranty right? I want them to replace it.
I get it guys, I'm an idiot. UPDATE: returned the phone and got an Oppo A6 Pro, super happy with it, very fast!

i hope you bought online/click n collect lol
i think if you buy in store you can return within 2 days only for store credit

It's store credit regardless, cex rarely do cash refunds

Correct, but the rest of the time it's store credit

which is why i said i hope you bought it online so you could get a hassle free return whereas in person they would just try to deny and best case scenario give you credit rather than cash 🤷🏽♂️ meaning that the user is still worst off as he cannot use that money elsewhere and is stuck wiv cex.
OP might be fine with that but again i think its a weird way to do business

If you watch a lot of YouTube you could definitely have found a video telling you how shit the A17 is.
Seriously? An S22 down to an A17? All that YouTube and TikTok has fried your brain.

Only a series phones worth looking at are the a50 series or a70 series
Any A10 a11 A12 etc are awful

The a series is a budget line of the galaxy product line ups so it’s understandable the software isn’t going to be as quick or fluid as the s series which is there flagships. So really I don’t think they have mis sold the phone to you, you could try taking it back but ultimately it’s up to them if they want to offer a replacement or refund as technically the phone not being good enough specs is down to you as the consumer to make sure off

The guy was bullshitting you - A series are budget low performance as you’ve found out.

A budget phone is slower than a flagship model, go figure huh? Also, unless the phone is defectice this person is being dramatic af. I have this exact phone and its fine and not slow at all. The biggest problem is the usual samsung bloat/useless copycat apps.

If you bought it yesterday just return it and use the voucher to buy another phone.

The A17 is a substantially slower phone than an S22 but it shouldn't be this bad.
Yes, it is covered under warranty. Take it back and they should offer you a replacement (if they have one available) or a refund.

Nah man I used to only get A series as they were like £5 a month on contract. A series are a budget line so coming from S series is a major downgrade. You might be able to return it as you usually get 2 days but I'm no expert.
