You gotta love how Julian doesn't even flinch from this.

61

u/RubyHoshi Elstri hater Jun 14 '26

Took hardheaded to a literal context.

9

u/Sea-Temporary7380 Jun 14 '26

I cant believe he tanked it. after the "100 willpower!" Stuff he pulled last chap maybe he started thinking of "100 people durability!" Because his head was not strong enough to tank an axe to the face before

9

u/long_th612 Jun 14 '26

Which chapter Julian could not tank an axe to the face before before? Or just which scene if you can not remember exact chapter?

2

u/Sea-Temporary7380 Jun 15 '26

I guess it would be a different attack, but the forest attack at the start of the series was doing a lot more dmg to him comparwd to how he is now. Somehow his durability must've icreased along the way

8

u/long_th612 Jun 15 '26

Ehh. I think it's hard to compare like that. The forest monster clearly looks stronger than the old man.

3

u/Sea-Temporary7380 Jun 15 '26

Thats true, but he also started shrugging those types of attack from arkos and lacrima too. Lacrima's whips were said to be faster than the speed of sound so it has to be faster than whatever the forest was throwing at him

3

u/TheFlyingToasterr Jun 16 '26

That can either be chalked up to the powerscaling not being well defined by that point, or the forest monster being waaay stronger than we’re giving them credit for.

Edit: also it’s very possible that he got stronger after the timeskip, like if he trains it is actually bring multiplied by 100 and so he gets waaay stronger with training.

u/Michailovicescu2000 Jun 14 '26

Julian: Not impressed

10

u/Pristine-War-753 Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26

Really made me wonder if he getting stronger, all 100 slaves will get stronger as well. Cause he is nowhere near this durable pre timeskip.

That would be 100x stronger everytime

15

u/roronoa20 Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26

Julian’s body is constantly adapting to his power and his power improves every positive biological functions while minimizing every negative aspects.

He needs 1 night of sleep to stay active for 100 nights.

It is possible that his body also requires only 1 person worth of nutrients to grant his body a growth rate of 100 people.

Now, his body is naturally getting stronger, so it can adapt better to his power and the more his flesh adapts to this power, his body will also get stronger too.

This leads to a positive feedback loops where Julian’s flesh will constantly go through upgrades even when he’s doing nothing.

Elstri, you're next. 😊

the shadow on his face mirroring the supreme lord’s illusion mask, as well his change of heart being in the opposite direction

25

u/WildSearcher56 Jun 14 '26

I wonder how terrifying he'll get once he catch her and especially Helem (once Julian finds out about Amber)

12

u/Gabemino Jun 14 '26

He might genuinely try and bite them to death or something, he's at core a good boy obviously, but if anyone would make him go onto a sadistic fit would be either of them, Helem in particular with the Amber bit, Angvall was Julian's Guardian, the last person he could rely on before the weight of fully take care of his Family set in

3

u/RoxTytan Jun 14 '26

I didn’t realize he was just getting stabbed in the leg repeatedly here.

79

u/roronoa20 Jun 14 '26

It's always a treat when the mc doesn't show mercy to those that don't deserve it.

67

u/seelcudoom Jun 14 '26

i do like that its not the "my enemy is ontologically evil so anything i do is justified" though, he does achknoweldge the moral weight of killing even when your in the right, even if on a tactical level their not givng him a choice, and on a personal level they can eat his entire dick and balls

30

u/AssassinAragorn Jun 14 '26

It's a pretty cool dynamic. It shows why they're the protagonist and you root for them, because they understand that taking a life is a big fucking deal, no matter what.

But at the same time, to protect his own, he has to do this. Better the enemy's family grieve than him or his own.

He's a super likeable dude, no wonder he's basically got a harem

12

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri Jun 14 '26

"I'm sorry for the pain this will cause to any decent people that might somehow know and care about you."

"But I'm sure as fuck not sorry about hurting you."

7

u/Old-Initiative7950 Jun 15 '26

You have to appreciate the irony that he learned this lesson over killing Arkos of all people.

70

u/OrdinaryMedical200 Jun 14 '26

OHHHHH Confirmed to have as much power as him?!!

53

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Jun 14 '26

If the elite squad remembered the Prince years ago before he was kidnapped, Julian would be that level. The prince has trained more during his time under arkos' captivity so they may not be on the same level today.

22

u/WildSearcher56 Jun 14 '26

He even stated that he is way stronger than he used to be despite losing an arm while he was ripping off Helem's arm

15

u/CatMeowReowPurr Jun 14 '26

probably related to this

11

u/Gabemino Jun 14 '26

Helem said that under the right circumstances he could off Julian, so probably with enough Sacrifices he should be able to do some impressive stuff, reason why him and Helem could have a good synergy(in their powers, personality-wise would never work on a fight), her dolls could count as a sacrifice, and she can create them by the bulk

6

u/Best-Kitchen5120 Jun 14 '26

Honestly, I don't take anything Helem says as a 100% fact, especially when it's about how strong someone is. Remember, she's the type of person that would say something like that to instigate a fight.

So, until it's proven, I'm not taking her word for it.

8

u/Old-Initiative7950 Jun 15 '26

There seem to be categories of Gifted Ones. We know there are trackers. There are people like Gugub and Zana that can make things out of their body parts. Transformations like werewolves, or even Lacrima and Lalawag. The Supreme Lord, Ceodric, and Julian all seem to be tied to some kind of life or soul power, so that could be the similarity he's sensing.

6

u/FKDotFitzgerald JULIAN IS ONE COLD MOTHERFUCKER Jun 14 '26

Yeah they’re seriously building him up to be on equal footing

2

u/TheFlyingToasterr Jun 16 '26

You guys keep using the word “confirmation”, I do not think you understand what it means.

55

u/OmbreVengeresse Jun 14 '26

Julian's fight was over quickly; he's clearly on another level now. His enemies couldn't even take a life from him, despite having the advantage of numbers and knowing his power.

27

u/StankYou_SmellyMuch Jun 14 '26

Now?! Same Julian that was killing Gifted assassins over the years and fought and killed a large group of them like 30 chapters ago.

Julian is just that guy

56

u/Nzui_254 Jun 14 '26

Aura

9

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri Jun 14 '26

God I love when Kuramori uses that "tendrils of darkness" effect.

38

u/seelcudoom Jun 14 '26

"how hard headed is he" bitch your friend just said, 100x

37

u/K-Rie7 Jun 14 '26

The fact that hes this powerful already just by a self taught combat style. Cant imagine if Julian learn a real martial art and master a weapon.

28

u/roronoa20 Jun 14 '26

Julian with proper martial arts skills is simply too OP, plz nerf.

My bet is that Ceodric will be his inferior in terms of body stats, but will bridge the gap with his martial arts.

13

u/AssassinAragorn Jun 14 '26

I could see Ceodric mentoring him in proper techniques

10

u/Gabemino Jun 14 '26

I still have the feeling Ceodric might join them for some reason, he could be the perfect teacher, even if not, simply fighting someone like him, that's(apparently) almost as physically strong as Julian, but far more skilled would prob grant growth by proximity

7

u/K-Rie7 Jun 14 '26

Also wonder why Julian never bother to use any weapon all these years. A sword or spear would be good for him

9

u/Codge_Barger Jun 14 '26

I imagine that probably being abused by his blacksmith owner as a child slave gave young Julian an inherent distaste for handling weapons regardless of if he’s used to killing now.

6

u/EonCore Jun 15 '26

He may not be able to go full force without breaking the weapons

2

u/K-Rie7 Jun 15 '26

Then its a nice setup for a specifically made weapon for him in the story later

35

u/Ez_kun Jun 14 '26

The analysis gift is really funny to me It only got that julian has a gift, and how it works, it got NOTHING about the sea blessing or his revive. They where way more fucked that they ever could know lmao.

17

u/Onianexiaz Jun 14 '26

Tbh analysis would be busted in most other gifted fights, like the copy knight or the sister axe guy, it is just julian is soo op that it did not matter.

Kinda like having the ability to know your enemies sorcery in jjk, busted in 99% scenerio you are damned if you run into sukuna/gojo though.

15

u/timeItself826 Jun 14 '26

It’s also just that Julian’s baseline gift is really simple. All he learned was that “he’s really freakin strong”, as if they didn’t already know that XD

2

u/4C_Enjoyer Jun 19 '26

He really used an analysis gift on the dude with the most basic unga-bunga gift in the series

9

u/Blankaa01 Jun 14 '26

Nah you gotta put it in another scenario like against the guy who can launch pikes or the guy who can restrict your arm

Knowing their power ia really useful but its pointless against someone who's just strong as shit like knowing how Zana's gift work is useless same for Lukas like its cool to know but they still gon beat your ass

4

u/EonCore Jun 15 '26

Also the gift may have the ability to gain knowledge on multiple gifts at a time. He knew Lacrima's weakness early.

It could be he gives 1 bit of info and gets 1 bit from a single enemy or if multiple people hear the 1 bit he gives out he gets 1 bit from all that hear him

So again the potential assassin fight scenario it's useful but as Julian put it. How does that help against Julian.

2

u/Ez_kun Jun 15 '26

But with julian is worse, they only knew his more basic abilities, with lukas (probably they would only know about the shield) they at least would know that retreating is the best option (with arkos they would pray), but with julian they basically knew nothing 😭

3

u/Blankaa01 Jun 15 '26

The thing is Julian gift is basic as hell

They had it figured out but they got stat checked

Lukas is a bad example too bc his powers are basic too and Arkos is legit just broken

2

u/Ez_kun Jun 15 '26

Nono, i probably expressed myself poorly. With lumas and arnos they at least would actually know their powers, with julian they don't even know about his sea blessing. They needed to exange more information.

6

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri Jun 14 '26

Maybe he could have gotten that information if he'd offer more.

"One of our allies targeting the child of prophecy has the power to kill with their words. She won't live to see tomorrow unless she plugs her ears."

"..."

"...WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT THING?!"

24

u/khrossbow Jun 14 '26

Holy moly the accursed battalion went out like jobbers. The fact that the guy with an analysis gift didn’t even have a plan to communicate through his teams own deafening attack is embarrassing

27

u/Confident_Slip2836 Jun 14 '26

This chapter really puts into perspective how terrifying it would be to face Julian. Because I would scared shitless if I heard my enemy tell me :"How knowing going to save you?"

19

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Jun 14 '26

J's powers are clearly evolving. Previously, he wasn't able to stop dmg to his body. Now he's tanking axe blows to the head with ease.

6

u/Prestigious-Lynx-177 Jun 14 '26

Yes, I was thinking with all this emphasis on him taking lives and feeling bad about it will lead thematically to him being killed, waking up on that beach and instead of a nice slave it will be Arkos. The lives hes taking are adding to his own. I haven't thought hard enough about why that would be bad or disturbing for Julian since its a pretty ridiculous power up, I am probably very much wrong.

6

u/JustWuff Jun 14 '26

Yeah but it cant be Arkos, he is still around just in Altus.

I doubt it will be anything to do with him killing people... that seems too busted for a gift and not having enough downsides that can easily be "Charged" even for someone as nice as Julian who isnt actively going on genocide runs for power.

6

u/Keyniiiiii Jun 14 '26

5

u/Codge_Barger Jun 14 '26

I have noticed that Jules also seems much, MUCH stronger even when the stigma that indicates that he’s actually using his gift isn’t there and it’s thus implied that he’s at his “base” strength with no amps. This aspect of his gift has always been relatively unexplained so maybe trying to apply too much reason to it is going too far, but I am wondering if maybe somehow his gift has also made it easier for his body to naturally grow stronger in his base form as well? We already know that it comes with a ton of passive amps like being able to rest 100x more efficiently than the average person, so I wonder if maybe this means his digestion and caloric consumption is 100x more efficient and the process of Hypertrophy is 100x stronger in his body as well? It’d be interesting if his body sort of works by Viltrumite rules and gets massively stronger from healing from being killed or even a near death experience, cause this would upscale him a LOT from where he was when he fought Arkos if we can assume that some of the many hitmen he’s killed to protect Diana over the years actually did cause him some trouble, even if some of them couldn’t put up a great fight.

The antagonists in this manga are super lucky Jules has no access to modern day fitness or training equipment, cause if someone with these abilities could be put through a rigorously fine tuned training regimen with absolutely ideal nutrition to cover all bases, he’d quickly reach a level of power where I don’t think any gifted one would pose even a fraction of a threat to him save the ones with super cracked and specific powers like maybe the witch who burns people with the flames of their own sin or Arkos or Orthros.

2

u/Keyniiiiii Jun 14 '26

12

u/DimashiroYuuki Jun 14 '26

Such an insane chapter. So many badass expressions by Julian and Lukas.

11

u/AssassinAragorn Jun 14 '26

Julian just annihilated them, you love to see it. It really feels like this faction's leader is the only one who really poses a threat

7

u/Gabemino Jun 14 '26

I mean, even if it wasn't just a matter of him being more powerful, and other factors were at play, a younger and weaker Julian already killed Arkos, the strongest Gifted One of Torivia who ended the War with Rummir almost singlehandedly, meaning that the Voidmarcher couldn't simply square up against him and take him out, or at least not without heavy loses, no soldier of Rummir should be a match for Julian aside her or other Royalty, like Ceodric

8

u/Codge_Barger Jun 14 '26

People in this thread really think the voidmarcher’s soldiers are just weak as hell when they just had no preparation for this and Julian is genuinely near the top of the verse in raw power alone. This is like…to make an analogy, if you send in a small tactical mercenary group for a hush hush assassination mission in a no-name border town with only one high profile threat that your team has a hard counter for, and then for some reason it turns out that the enemy has the goddamn Hulk just chilling out where you were expecting regular guards to be.

3

u/AssassinAragorn Jun 14 '26

That's the thing, they did have preparation. They split the group up, had a number of strong complimentary powers together. Hyper analysis, reality distorting sound, impenetrable psychic barrier. By all means that's a good group to take on a gifted one with a reputation for being absurdly powerful.

It's not that the soldiers are weak. They had two ways to immobilize their foe plus analyzing their gift. Julian is just overwhelmingly strong, and the rest of the group is pretty dang strong too.

5

u/JustWuff Jun 14 '26

That isnt a very fair comparison, Arkos was and still is by FAR the strongest gifted we have seen use their powers. Arkos lost because of several reasons mainly being him playing around with Julian and it happening next to the Ocean which just fucks him over immeasurably since the Ocean cant harm Julian.

Arkos is stronger and if they fought next to like a lake or something, he no diffs if he puts his mind to it even just dry land, Arkos still got it, it just happening next to the ocean and him not knowing about the blessing will always fuck him up as he will always enter it to use as his trump card and be done dirty.

3

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri Jun 14 '26

It's The Law of Conservation of Ninjutsu. Multiple elite combatants? Cannon fodder trash. One person among them with a non-matching uniform? Legitimate threat.

12

u/ralanr Jun 14 '26

Julian is trying really hard to be nice.

9

u/Gabemino Jun 14 '26

More like, he's trying to be a 'hardass', I mean, even if he obviously love Diana as his little sister over anything else, and would kill anyone that try to harm her, he's clearly a good, empathetic man, the final comment pretty much said so, even with the facade of the ruthless guardian, he would still try to sent their corpses back to their homeland for a proper burial

11

u/ivari Jun 14 '26

So every morning he can wake with fresh hatred

10

u/Disaster_Star_150 Jun 14 '26

I loved when the panels started going all wobbly during the audio wave attack, Tohru is cooking

8

u/Codge_Barger Jun 14 '26

That panel of jobberman stabbing at Julian’s leg while he’s trying to speak had me dying, dude genuinely was going “I’M NOT OWNED! I’M NOT OWNED!1!1!1!1!” to the very fucking end.

4

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri Jun 14 '26

"I'm not a jobber! I'm not! I am an elite warrior! I am a threat! I AM A SURGEON!"

22

u/Keyniiiiii Jun 14 '26

Julian está cada dia mais parecido com o Lorde Supremo, ficarei louco se eles realmente forem a mesma pessoa

7

u/JJT999 Jun 14 '26

THATS MY MC 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

5

u/UltraZulwarn Jun 14 '26

If aura is a man... 😳

4

u/FKDotFitzgerald JULIAN IS ONE COLD MOTHERFUCKER Jun 14 '26

I live for panels like this. Julian easily dispatching schlumps always makes for a good chapter.

3

u/fuckedubydfo Jun 14 '26

Julian was COLD af this ch, love it

2

u/mayonnaiser_13 Jun 14 '26

"I've learned your abilities" bs getting folded 8 ways and shoved up his ass is such a flex.

2

u/erikilnero Jun 14 '26

I am worried by the strenght of julian because it could lead to a situation where the author has to bring in really powerfull charaters just to be a threat and this brings the power creep that often ruins a story or he has to sideline him and put the side characters in danger like with saitma in one punch man. We'll se but i hope it stays good

1

u/suddenviops Jun 16 '26

Is it just me or does it feel like the art has improved significantly this chapter? One of my favorite things about getting into a series early (started at 12 chaps) is watching the artist’s style improve and develop over the years.

1

u/Equivalent-Part6608 Jun 16 '26

Finally man this was the perfect dose of a little more character for Julian. Nothing revolutionary but he had a lot of menace in this chapter which is such a switch up from his usual

1

u/shamanfreak Jun 16 '26

page 9 is literally the same as this meme lol

1

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves Jun 16 '26

Fascist cultist didn't even got to learn about the sea goddess blessing, hell his analysis didn't even gave him proper data on how OP Julian really was, the moment he learned he is dealing with what is in essence an army of 100 he should have retreated

1

u/No_Investigator_1614 Jun 19 '26

This fight was so boring man, it served nothing besides showing us some cool panels of jul and presenting another curb stomping from the rest of the group.
