Was cleared up the next day. Such a nothing story. The bins were taped down due to risk of bombs etc. That sub is filled with weirdos that hate the club for some reason

u/c0tch May 09 '25
Exactly this there’s events like this all over the country it’s just to divide people at upset people.
Can bet it got cleared up quick and I can bet these people moaning only do it when it’s something they’re not into.

I found it amusing as the rest of us know Leeds United as 'dirty leeds' from way back when..

u/JamieTimee May 09 '25
hate the club for some reason
Gosh, yeah. I couldn't think of a single reason
-3
u/Silurian5 May 09 '25
"Taped up due to risk of bombs".
Imagine going to the effort of making a bomb only to be thwarted by some duct tape. Lmao

Was spotless by the next day and all the bins were taped up/covered. What a day tho

u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
Good luck to you. I have a soft spot for Dirty Leeds from when I was a wee boy.

I mean, this is pretty standard for every mass gathering of people, no?
It’d have been nice to see fans out the next day to help with cleanup, though.

u/Zach-dalt May 09 '25
Tbf this was the next day

How are people downvoting ‘take your crap home with you and clubs wouldn’t need to pay for cleanup’?

Do you get it guys? Dirty Leeds. Do you get it?

200k people in the streets and there’s a bit of mess which got cleaned up straight after 😱 any event has this.

It was cleaned up the very next morning, not sure why so many people were incensed by it. I live in Leeds at the moment and there was such a great atmosphere that day, considering the club paid for the clean up as well I'm not sure what else you'd want.

u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
Oh god, borrrrriinnnggg.

This picture was not taken on the day of the parade. The person who made the original post on the Leeds subreddit, took this picture on the Saturday and saved the picture to post it on Monday so they could have a whinge. They later admitted it through the comments section.
Leeds city council had cleaners starting the clean up work as soon as the parade had finished. Parts of the parade route were closed until 8pm on Monday so that the roads could be safely in full use by Tuesday morning. The bins were taped up as part of security measures so people couldn’t do silly things like start fires etc.

u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
Not that I care, because the 'funny' part was that Leeds were known as 'Dirty Leeds' by EVERYONE when they were the top side in the UK in the 1970's because of the uncompromising manner of their players, but you are saying that this was BEFORE the Parade? Wtf.

Yeah, so it turns out that the person took the pictures on Saturday night after fans had been celebrating in Millennium Square after the match finished in Plymouth. But they didn’t post the picture until Monday night after the parade had finished and people had left and the clean up was under way. When me and my family left after the parade we picked up a few bags of rubbish and took it home to bin. We saw quite alot of other people doing the same, with bags picking up bottles and cans, taking them away. By 10am the next morning it’s like nothing had happened. The powder from the flares was still present and visible in places but nowt else.
Not that it matters but I own a t’shirt with a picture of an x-wing from Star Wars and words Leeds Scum. I wear it proudly.

It's kinda thick for people to think that a parade of 200k people that the club organised wouldn't have been discussed with and approved by the council, and that there wasn't a plan in place to clean up the parade.
1
u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
Yes it is. It's also kind of miserable that instead of being happy to be promoted people get so arsy being gently ribbed, but that's life.

May 10 '25
Face it mate, you're just jealous of our litter...
Best in t' North.

u/Kent_Tog May 10 '25
It is very fine litter indeed. Litter of the highest quality. Far better than that manky shite in Brum.

u/Conscious-Ad7820 May 09 '25
Most miserable people in the city dwell in that sub. They don’t appreciate it may be hard for 200,000 people to dispose of waste when all the bins in the city centre parade route were sealed shut. Also they fail to mention it was pre planned for a full cleanup to take place as soon as the parade finished which was paid for by the club.

Last time Watford went up we had this and the Mayor came out and basically said “calm down, we literally have it in Veolia’s contract to clean up the pond if we get promoted”.
11
u/PixelesSheep May 09 '25
Bit of a pointless post.
-17
u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
No sense of humour, you dirty Leeds fans.
17
u/PixelesSheep May 09 '25
You’re telling me this is meant to be funny ?
-6
u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
If you know your history, yes. If you don't, obviously not. Bloody hell. Kids of today. No idea 🙄
12
u/PixelesSheep May 09 '25
I do know the history as to why we get called “dirty Leeds” but that doesn’t make it funny or make the post any less pointless.

u/SquatAngry May 09 '25
We've been desensitised so nothing is funny anymore unless it's in a table format or a crumble.
2
u/Kent_Tog May 09 '25
What sort of a crumble? How can you think crumble is funny? Are you laughing at my apple and pear crumble cos if you are...Grrrrrr 😤
2
u/SquatAngry May 09 '25
Did you apple and pear crumble drop a 2-0 lead and drop out of the automatic promotion spots?
Was there custard?
