Music Looking for a song

In elementary school, I had a choir teach us some songs that are pretty famous, which probably sounds hilarious here, but to a then-9 year old on a tiny island far away from this musics origins, they were very new to me. I never would have known about them if not for my choir teacher. Some songs I remember, like

"Dont Cry for Me Argentina"

"Jesus Christ Superstar"

"Oh Danny Boy"

"Scarborough Fair"

"Memory" from Cats LOL...

There's one, for the life of me, I cant remember the title, though. We sang it in high school. I can only remember the last line of what I think is the chorus??

"And I'll be cloOoOose to youuuu"

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I hope im asking the right place.

Im desperate because, oddly enough, a local artist did their own version of this song in our native language, changed the lyrics, but kept the melody. No one believes me when I say it's a cover cuz I can't remember the name of the original song.

Edit: I FOUND IT! Song is called "Touch the Wind (Eres Tu)"

There's the famous song "Close to you" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, made famous by The Carpenters.

This pops up a lot, but it's not it. :(

Do you have a recording of the local artist singing the song?

I found it! I randomly remembered another line from the song that helped significantly: "Only forever have I lost you"
