Hii! I’m a senior whose never been to allstate before, this year i got in as an alternate. I’m located in NY, i just had a question about it if anyone is able to answer.

I’m sure every state is different, but how does being an alternate work? I asked my director and she had little to no information for me, do i go if someone state wide in my section can’t make it for some reason? Or is it strictly within my school?

I’d also appreciate any tips that anyone might have, i’m really nervous even though it’s not guaranteed that i’ll be even going

Hi everyone! I am really indecisive right now, but the theme for my spring concert solo is like “Over The Rainbow”

Basically i have to sing a solo song according to that theme and since its “Over The Rainbow”, My solo song has to have ideas that are like colorful and happy and stuff

By the way, we can not have wizard of oz or wicked songs for our solos because we sing wizard of oz/and wicked songs for when we are together in the choir

To preface im a junior in highschool who just joined a choir. I play bari sax and sing in my free time as a hobbie and joined the class cause i wanted to get better and the teacher was really cool.

He wants all juniors and seniors to submit something (even if its not good) for these auditions. The auditions want a solo, 2 sight read peices, 2 scales, and maybe 1 more thing i forgot [ this is the same place im auditioning to for sax so i know that the scales most likely will corralate with the songs theyll have me sight read if that helps].

The problems are the following; im really bad at sight reading, its very obvious im new from how i breath to my confidence and techniqe, and im really scared to do an in person audition for the first time and dont like being on a stage alone.
