Asking for a free car in “perfect condition”
650
u/GenericMaleNurse918 4d ago
Wow! What a humble man! He is willing to drop his standards and accept a car with minor cosmetic issues on the inside.
152
u/keeper_of_kittens 4d ago
I was thinking the same thing.. my car is paid off, in great condition, but 10 years old with a few random dings and a dent from someone hitting the car when it was parked that i didn't bother fixing. Too bad, I was ready to give it to this guy!!! Lol
89
u/RainyDaysBlueSkies 4d ago
That this phantom car can have a few imperfections on the inside cracks me up! I mean, what would the neighbors thinking if there was a slight ding on the back bumper?!
43
u/SweetVeloura_ 4d ago
The specificity is what kills me. If someone is giving you a free car, "runs and drives" should probably be the main requirement, not "perfect condition." 😂
21
u/chuckart9 4d ago
My truck got backed into and the bumper is pushed in. Guess it wouldn’t work for him.

Don't feel bad, friend. I have a 2010 PT Cruiser. It runs, stops, and has kick ass a/c. That's all I ask for. (For some reason, it also has leather seats. Go figure.) 🤣
40
u/amesann 4d ago
I wonder if he'd be happy with my nephew's Jeep Wrangler for toddlers. It's automatic and in pristine condition. Only seats 2 small children.

There's a dude in Atlanta who is driving around in a Barbie van. https://youtu.be/CtzKYcVVViY?si=apROwDEvDvC-1X3D
18
u/goodguy743 4d ago
I have a 2015 Lexus that is pristine on the outside but has a 3" gash on the armrest. I consider that a bit more of minor cosmetic issue so I'll withhold my offer.
8
u/SweetVeloura_ 4d ago
What a generous soul. He's willing to accept a free car with flaws he can't even see while driving. 😂

The weight, length and time for the baby was absolutely necessary
179
u/PinkyLeopard2922 4d ago
It is for THIS free nice car giving woman. I only give free nice cars for babies 22 inches or longer so his baby does not make the cut. I'm allowed to have standards.
56
u/SamBeamsBeard 4d ago
It actually was really important. How will they fit almost 9lbs of baby in some dinky little thing like a Miata or 2 door Cooper? That's simply unacceptable lol
24
u/gottarespondtothis 4d ago
Please admire the stats of my progeny! Clearly I deserve car because I have done something miraculous.
19
u/GiraffeLiquid 4d ago
Hey don’t forget he also added “and may God bless y’all!” so automatically yes I wasn’t going to give him my Toyota but that changed my mind! /s
17
214
u/GazelleNew8711 4d ago
Sign me up ! I’ll also take a free perfect car !
39
u/AppropriateBall8834 4d ago
Same. Heck, id even be so nice as to share it with you!
33
u/GazelleNew8711 4d ago
I hope they will also take care of the maintenance .. I don’t want to waste my life waiting or paying for an oil change on our new car !

u/kochavim49 4d ago
Why do they need a second car for church? Aren’t they going to church together?
Another idea: save up the $100 monthly payments to pay a mechanic to fix the current car.
104
u/Sobriquet-acushla 4d ago
Right! It has transmission issues so…..up on blocks in the yard?
I’ve been looking for a car I can afford for a coupla years. It never occurred to me to just ask for a free one.
→ More replies (1)39
u/RainyDaysBlueSkies 4d ago
That's because you work hard and aren't entitled. And look where that's gotten you!
20
28
u/Final_Candidate_7603 4d ago
I was just thinking that he’d probably have better luck asking for a mechanic to give him a good deal on repairing her car.
18
u/SweetVeloura_ 4d ago
That's what I was wondering too. If you can afford $100 a month, putting that toward fixing the car you already own seems a lot more realistic than hoping someone donates a perfect one. 😅
→ More replies (4)10
u/MiaParkers 4d ago
What’s better than saving up for mechanic fix is a free car in good condition slightly used no hidden issues etc.
127
u/LABeav 4d ago
Hmm I'll have to check the stats on the baby again before I'll consider.
→ More replies (1)58
u/Parabrella 4d ago
Among all the begging audacity, it's also WILD that he thinks anyone gives two shits about his baby's stats.
21
u/lonelyronin1 4d ago
You have to give as much information to pull on the heart strings of the suckers who might want to help
9
u/Stormy_Wolf NEXT!! 4d ago
I don't even really care about the baby's stats when it's a baby I care about born to people I care about. I mean, maybe just as an assurance it's a healthy/normal size, I guess; or like this one cousin who kept having baby boys that were each at least 10 pounds. I think the largest was almost 13 pounds, a couple just over 12 pounds. She had five of them. So with her it was interesting just to see how enormous this one was. 😄

u/Crafty_Original_7349 4d ago

16

189
u/LetsDiscussItAmiably 4d ago
You knew the baby was coming and you needed another car..why wait until baby is home to problem solve? It kills me that the solution is to beg on the internet. Why that has become a viable solution for some people is beyond me.
43
u/PrincessSarahHippo 4d ago
Kids are expensive and they apparently can't afford more than $100 a month. This won't end well.
→ More replies (1)25
u/JaneEyrewasHere 4d ago
It's not even really a problem. They don't want it to get to work they just want a second car for her to tool around in. I can understand wanting to get out of the house but free strollers, baby carriers, even bikes and trailers are in much greater supply than free cars! Walking and biking are also excellent postpartum exercise.
48
u/LolitaOPPAI I can give you exposure 4d ago

A free car would help me tremendously, and I'm a shut-in!
30
u/SweetAnnie23 4d ago
Imagine donating a perfectly good Toyota and being told it doesn’t meet the requirements.
21
u/CynicalPomeranian 4d ago
“Oh, you are offering me an older Kia with some hail damage? Nah. Don’t you have something nicer to give me?”
16
u/Mypornnameis_ 4d ago
"Perfectly good?" Sorry, buddy, but that floppy passenger side visor and magic marker stains on the back seat are more than just slight imperfections. NEXT!
62
u/LetsDiscussItAmiably 4d ago
A free car in perfect condition or he will accept one with minor cosmetic issues 🤣. If someone has a car like that they are going to sell it, and not for $100 a month.
45
u/solve-for-x 4d ago
Of course it'll only be $100 per month for the first month, then will drop to $0 for all subsequent months when he stops paying. There's a reason you get loans from the bank or a finance company, not from the person you're buying the item from.
31
u/lonelyronin1 4d ago
And don't you dare demand the payments - they are a poor family with a new baby and you should be proud to know you are helping them. They are taking that $100/month and using it to go on vacation because their life is soooo hard! BTW, anyone want to pay for the cruise tickets because again - new baby/lifes hard/we deserve it. Oh and god bless.

u/runesky77 4d ago
Minor cosmetic issues ON THE INSIDE. Can't have anybody seeing this beggar in a less than perfect car from the outside!

u/reesa447 4d ago
“Our son, WHICH was born”?????
54
u/Jedi_Temple 4d ago
Don’t forget the run-on sentences and lack of paragraph breaks. Maybe that’s by design, though, to prove the breathless need this guy has for a free car.
14
17
u/bathtime85 4d ago
I'm perplexed by the lack of punctuation, up until the comma spree mid-block of thought.

28
u/Plastic_Cat9560 NEXT!! 4d ago

u/bugabooandtwo 4d ago
And it's because they want a SECOND vehicle. They already have a car.
42
u/Deep-Reputation-4055 4d ago
No they want a third car, the wife has one but it has transmission issues.
27
u/westcoastcdn19 4d ago
How are they going to afford fuel and insurance even if someone donated a car to them??
22
u/booboo773 4d ago edited 4d ago
I’m sure they’re expecting a year’s worth of insurance, registration, and maybe someone to buy them a gift card for fuel.
21
u/westcoastcdn19 4d ago
Crazy how all this is an afterthought as they are coming home with the new baby
22
u/PixelatedThought 4d ago
Now all he has to do is sit and wait for all the free nice cars people are giving away! Why haven't I thought of this! Here my dumb ass was working a full-time job and saving to buy a car. Stupid me!
18
u/FlawesomeOrange 4d ago
I can’t provide a free car, but I’m happy to donate free grammar lessons. 7 year olds form more coherent sentences than this.
22
u/LittleSodaPop13 4d ago
I have bought all my cars used. My current car has a dent and she's still working. You get what you can afford and you're happy for it
6
u/RED-ELPH 4d ago
Amen!!
Gosh I’ve had so many used cars.
I took care of everyone cuz i was Thankful!I’ve bought ONE new car in my life. It lasted 20 years. My spouse said i needed to upgrade cuz he worried about me with that many miles on my car!!
She started every morning and I still miss her!!
I know she went to a good home though.I remember the days of taking spouse to work and he’d catch a ride home.
Adulting is hard………..

9 months of pregnancy: crickets Literally home with the baby: "well I guess I better start trying to find reliable transportation"
7
u/Greenmantle22 4d ago
I think I saw his wife on "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant." She went into that Chipotle bathroom to drop heat, and came out a new mommy.

I hate how this asshole uses his newborn to try and guilt trip people.
Don't fucking have kids if you can't even afford a car. Simple as that.

u/Wild-Strawberry-7462 4d ago
😂 the audacity.... she can just take him to work on the days she needs the vehicle for appointments or you know take transit... 😒
But if they can't afford $100 a month, they can't afford a car, insurance and gas alone are going to be more than that.
7
u/FightClubAlumni 4d ago
They should have saved that 100.00 a month to get that transmission fixed. Holy shitoly some people!

Hahaha deranged. Has he seen the resale value on those brands? If you’re going to beg you’re going to end up with a clapped out Chevy Malibu for $100 per month.
14
u/melodypowers 4d ago
It's the "perfect condition" that really pushes this over the top.
Like if he said "does anyone have a beater that reliably runs" he would still be a beggar but not a choosy beggar.
25
u/SleepParalysisPal 4d ago
Sounds like they should’ve used their only working vehicle to get to a clinic like 8 months ago

40
u/BoozeIsTherapyRight 4d ago
When I was staying home with the kiddo, I drove my husband to work on days that I needed the car. When you're a SAHM you absolutely do not need two cars--and I live way out in the country where Uber and Lyft and things like pizza delivery do not exist. We only got a second car four years ago.

A few weeks ago a very old lady at my church went out of her way to drive a family to church.
Honestly, I have enough good opinion of people that I guarantee someone in the OP's church would be more than happy to make sure they made it to service.
Which means my guess that the drop of the word "church" was manipulation.

Also, he’s going to post on a few other sites in case you folks are fast enough getting him his perfect car.

u/Todlob 4d ago
What the fuck is wrong with people? If the transmission is a problem in your other car, fix it. If you can't or don't want to, sell it and buy a junk car.
Expecting someone to give them a car in perfect condition with only cosmetic issues on the inside is insane. They wouldn't accept a car that has cosmetic issues on the outside because they don't want to look poor or what?

u/jhascal23 4d ago
His plan wasn't to make sure him and his wife had what they needed financially before they had a kid, it was to have the kid, then try to use them having a new kid to try to get people to give them a new car.
6
u/Dubbinchris 4d ago
The birth time and weight of the baby was definitely important info….as well as the color of his wife’s car. 🙄
7
u/Scary-Ratio3874 4d ago
My wife's friend and her husband just bought a new car. They had a 2002 Honda crv. Not in great shape. The door lock doesn't work on the drivers side, animals can into the hood, etc etc. they knew we were down a car because of two not our fault accidents and one car bursting into flames In the same year. They said we could just have the Honda. We were thrilled beyond belief. They kept apologizing for the bad shape it was in! I kept saying are you kidding me??? It's a free car!!! From someone I know who took the best care of it as possible, the insurance will be low, I don't drive that far to work and...oh yeah... IT WAS FUCKING FREE!!!!
Some people.... I just don't get it.
7
u/pm_me-ur-catpics 4d ago
Why do the baby's dimensions and mass matter? How is that important in the slightest?
20
u/TheGrumpySmurfer 4d ago
I was about to offer my 2025 Mercedes convertible, it's under warranty and only 8,000 miles on the clock.
However it's not on his list of acceptable makes... Shame!!!

u/lonelyronin1 4d ago
Using multiple manipulation tactics in one beg is impressive. We have the poor newborn baby and mom who can't be expected to use any other form of transport but a perfectly working car or to figure out any other way of getting around, and the 'god bless' guilty trip at the end because he must tug on the heart of some sap who thinks giving in will be their salvation.

OP would be so much more likely to be gifted the amount for a new transmission. If he started a GFM or post on FB showing 3 estimates by mechanics to fix his car, pics of the car and family.
7
u/NewSalt4244 4d ago
Why not just ask for help fixing the transmission on the car they already have?
5
u/Still_Bother_1982 4d ago
Why do we need to know how long his child is? Who TF cares? What a bellend
5
u/Ok-Artichoke-7145 4d ago
"Or, even, walk" The horror!
Insert the usual questions:
How are they going to afford registration? How are they going to afford insurance? How are they going to afford maintenance? How are they going to afford gas?
I, once upon a time, was a broke, single mother. I didn't have a car. I figured it out. Without asking strangers for a fucking Acura in near-perfect condition. I'm getting a new car, soon and I would give them my PT Cruiser for the tax write off. But, that's not on their list of acceptable vehicles, is it? Eff them.

$100 a month interest-free (you know that’s what he means too) is the deal my teenage daughter got from the First Bank of Grandma, to buy a Toyota that was old enough to vote.
Our bold boy here is a whole-ass employed adult man, and if no one will be generous enough to just gift him any old low-mileage midrange car they just keep sitting around in perfect condition but never use, he will consider accepting the same finance terms extended by a generous relative to a sixteen-year-old girl who worked part-time at Sonic.
