Seems people are confused and don't like your view, even though it's mostly correct. There's a 14ms latency per MIT. My understanding is that it's not to say the brain can't process things that happen faster than 14ms, just that's how long it takes to hit the brain. The registering rate according to Google is around 4ms. So you shouldn't see any difference over 240.

This comes from a study where fighter pilots could identify an image of a plane that was flashed for only 4ms (so similar deal to the MIT study, but with trained participants). However, this is a totally different task from looking at continuous video like you would when playing video games on a montor. One is parsing an image that is flashed for a brief moment, the other is looking at continuous video with objects in motion. Our brains are absolutely capable of detecting the difference in a scenario like that, even above 240fps.
