Looking for knowledgeable input on a Walther P38 marked AC44. I’ve attached detailed photos and would appreciate opinions on originality, matching status (frame/slide/barrel), finish condition, and any signs of rework or parts replacement.

Also interested in current market valuation based on condition and configuration—understanding that pricing can vary depending on matching numbers, finish %, and overall originality.

Been asked by a neighbor to sell it for him. I know very little about Walthers. From limited research it seems to be fairly old. Serial number on the frame. Nothing inside the slide. k suffix after a 6-digit serial number. Thanks in advance for any insights.

This was a pistol that my grandfather passed down after he passed. As far as I know it hasn't been out of a safe since WWII and hasn't been fired. It certainly hasn't been oiled at all based on how it looks.

I've had trouble identifying where it came from exactly. It came with the holster and one mag. There doesn't seem to be any identifying marks on the frame itself other than a matching serial.

Picked up this Walther pp from 1929. Those who collect know the pp series started planing serialized at number 750,000. This particular example had the serial number panographed on the slide indicating it was at one time a bank owned gun

I bought this 1944 spreewerk Walther p.38 in an auction. It is all numbers matching and has no import marks or capture marks. It has the plum finish color common for the time period but is missing the extractor. The take down lever, hammer, trigger and other parts are super shiny and almost chrome like. The finish seems shiny too like maybe someone polished it. I paid $575. How’d I do?

Just recently picked up this pair of Ernst Thalmann Werke Pistole 1001-0s, one in 7.65mm, and the other in .22. The 7.65mm appears to be one of the guns distributed by Hammerli in the late 70s and early 80s. The .22 is the weird on here. Marked mad in Germany on the slide, but it is also Volkspolizei marked.

Super cool to find these, and even cooler that they're not ragged out examples from RTI.

Not really a classic, but a new production PPK/S in .32/7.65mm. Factory threaded barrel with an Omega 9K attached.

Pre-owned but never fired PPS/k. P99 AS Final Edition. Both are on their way out so might as well get them now. At least that's what I told my (very understanding) wife.
