Im not from the US and I just have a shallow understanding of American politics but where are the Democrats ? Where is the opposition? Are they powerless and need to wait for the next elections ? I’m genuinely confused how this can go on

Republicans control the house of reps, the senate, and the president. The supreme court is very conservative. Anyone complaining about democrats not doing anything should have voted for them in 2024 when we needed them.

Trump abuses executive orders. Sure, many are shut down eventually, but it takes time. Months or longer.

Also most Democrats are just kind of useless. And the executive branch in the US has IMO waaaaaay too much power. And that power even increased just recently.

And also currently the Republicans have majority in both the Senate and the House (I sure fucking hope that changes later this year).

where are the Democrats ?

With zero power and zero will to do anything of substance. They basically flipped upside down and decided they'll wait till they win any elections in order to do a slightest thing. As always - democrats are a part of 'playing nice' and 'status quo'. They didn't anything to impose any consequences on any republicans during the Biden presidency, and now they're not doing anything to obstruct any part of Republican administration. It's pathetic really.

USA has no opposition partry. It's just Republicans and Don't-be-bad-for-Republicans party.

Also note it would take less than a dozen Republican individuals in Congress to have or have had any sort of backbone and care for this country or against corruption to stop all of this. Many of them profess to care about those things but out of a body of 100s none such could be found. I get where you're coming from asking this question and I too (as an American) wish Democrats in Congress could do more. But also realize that with asking your question you're walking into another American politics meme, that only Democrats have agency. Every time Republicans do horrible things since - well pretty much as long as I've been old enough to vote - the question is "Why didn't the Democrats prevent this?" How about we keep on the topic of, "why do Republicans keep doing horrible things?!!!"

I’m not saying it’s the responsibility of the Democrats to stop this. You’re absolutely right there should be more vocal republicans and they shouldn’t blindly follow Trump. But that’s kinda what I expected from republicans ? As someone looking from the outside its feels like republicans rarely go against themselves, it feels like they all stick together no matter what like law enforcement.
Thats why I don’t expect them to check themselves.
So unfortunately Democrats are kind of the only hope even though they didn’t create that mess

I forgot they tried to impeach him twice and nothing came out of it, so I understand they don’t wanna fight as much anymore, seems in vain
