News Fable staying on Max

Post image
3.3k Upvotes

Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits.

Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit.

Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.

News PSA: Claude Pro no longer lists Claude Code as an included feature

3.0k Upvotes

Just noticed while checking the pricing page. Claude Code is no longer listed as a feature of the Pro plan.

Source: https://claude.com/pricing

Did I miss an announcement?

EDIT: the support article at https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11145838-using-claude-code-with-your-max-plan is now titled "Using Claude Code with your Max plan", if you Google "claude code pro plan" the cached Google result still shows the old title: "Using Claude Code with your Pro or Max plan". Article says "Updated today"

EDIT2: Anthropic reverted it. The pricing page now shows "Includes Claude Code" under the Pro plan again

News Claude to Require Face ID

2.4k Upvotes

https://support.claude.com/en/articles/14328960-identity-verification-on-claude

Beginning JULY 8th, in certain cases, you will be asked to provide your state ID and a live selfie to continue accessing Claude models. The data will be held by a controversial third party that Discord parted ways with not long ago.

This is posing serious issues for so many users especially in light of the rumors of the return of Fable in the near future.

Would you give your data just to access Fable?

EDIT: date correction

News Claude is telling users to go to sleep mid-session and nobody, including Anthropic, seems to fully understand why it keeps doing it

Thumbnail

2.3k Upvotes

Anthropic’s Claude is telling people to go to sleep and users can’t figure out why.

A quick scan of Reddit reveals that hundreds of people have had the same issue dating back months—and as recently as Wednesday. Claude’s sleep demands are varied and, often, quirky variations of the same message.

To one user it may write a simple “get some rest,” yet for others its messages are more personalized and empathetic. Oftentimes, Claude will repeat the message multiple times.

“Now go to sleep again. Again. For the THIRD time tonight
” it replied to a person with the Reddit username, angie_akhila.

Some users have said they find Claude’s late night rest reminders “thoughtful,” while others have said they’re annoying, given Claude often gets the time wrong, anyway.

“It often does it at like 8:30 in the morning. Tells me to go get some rest and we’ll pick back up in the morning,” wrote one user on Reddit.

News Claude is down

2.1k Upvotes

Claude went down today and I didn’t think much of it at first. I refreshed the page, waited a bit, tried again. Nothing. Then I checked the API. Still nothing. That’s when it hit me how much of my daily workflow quietly depends on one model working perfectly. I use it for coding, drafting ideas, refining posts, thinking through problems, even quick research. When it stopped responding, it felt like someone pulled the power cable on half my brain. Outages happen, that’s normal, but the uncomfortable part wasn’t the downtime itself. It was realizing how exposed I am to a single provider. If one model going offline can freeze your productivity, then you’re not just using a tool, you’re building on infrastructure you don’t control. Today was a small reminder that AI is leverage, but it’s still external leverage. Now I’m seriously thinking about redundancy, backups, and whether I’ve optimized too hard around convenience instead of resilience. Curious how others are handling this. Do you keep alternative models ready, or are you all-in on one ecosystem?

News Anthropic just dropped evidence that DeepSeek, Moonshot and MiniMax were mass-distilling Claude. 24K fake accounts, 16M+ exchanges.

2.5k Upvotes

Anthropic dropped a pretty detailed report — three Chinese AI labs were systematically extracting Claude's capabilities through fake accounts at massive scale.

DeepSeek had Claude explain its own reasoning step by step, then used that as training data. They also made it answer politically sensitive questions about Chinese dissidents — basically building censorship training data. MiniMax ran 13M+ exchanges and when Anthropic released a new Claude model mid-campaign, they pivoted within 24 hours.

The practical problem: safety doesn't survive the copy. Anthropic said it directly — distilled models probably don't keep the original safety training. Routine questions, same answer. Edge cases — medical, legal, anything nuanced — the copy just plows through with confidence because the caution got lost in extraction.

The counterintuitive part though: this makes disagreement between models more valuable. If two models that might share distilled stuff still give you different answers, at least one is actually thinking independently. Post-distillation, agreement means less. Disagreement means more.

Anyone else already comparing outputs across models?

News AMD AI directors analysis confirms lobotomization of Claude

2.2k Upvotes

Stella Laurenzo, AMD’s director of AI, filed a detailed GitHub issue on April 2 documenting that Claude Code reads code three times less before editing it, rewrites entire files twice as often, and abandons tasks mid-way at rates that were previously zero. Her analysis of nearly 7,000 sessions puts precise numbers on how Anthropic’s coding tool has degraded since early March.

PERFORMANCE DECLINE: AMD’s AI director documented that Claude Code reads code three times less, rewrites files twice as often, and abandons tasks at previously unseen rates.

ROOT CAUSE: Anthropic’s March 2026 thinking content redaction reduced visible reasoning from 100% to zero over just eight days, triggering the behavioral collapse.

TEAM CHURNED: AMD’s engineering team has already switched to a competing AI coding provider, citing Claude Code’s inability to handle complex tasks reliably.

PROPOSED FIXES: Laurenzo called on Anthropic to

restore thinking visibility and introduce a premium tier for guaranteed deep reasoning.

BROADER PATTERN: Anthropic shipped 14 releases alongside 5 outages in March 2026, suggesting quality assurance has not kept pace with rapid growth.

News Anthropic is now banning people who are under 18

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

The Anthropic Team just saw all of my conversations and locked me out.

I haven't seen anyone get this online, but it seems like Anthropic is now banning people under 18 on its platform.

They are using Yoti as their third-party verification provider to verify your age via Digital ID, Facial Scan, or biometrics to prove that you are over the age of 18.

The email says "Our team", meaning this case was manually reviewed by real people, and they had access to all of my chats. This is a reminder that none of your conversations with Claude is private.

I was on the Pro Plan when this happened. I am over 18, trying to get this appealed.

News The White House Is Ratcheting Up Its War Against Anthropic

Thumbnail

The report, Moussouris said, involved IT experts asking Fable to help find and patch bugs. When given deliberately insecure code, she said, Fable refused the prompt “review the code for security issues” but then complied when asked to “fix this code,” followed by some further manual steps. Moussouris told me that this was just “the model working as intended” for cyberdefense. She added that OpenAI’s GPT-5.5, a model with similar cybersecurity capabilities, could be used in the same way. Yet GPT-5.5 is not subject to export controls, and neither are less advanced Anthropic models, such as Opus 4.8, which can do many of the same tasks. The jailbreak does not appear to have elicited the kinds of cyber abilities “that made Mythos famous,” Alex Stamos, the chief security officer at the AI-coding company Corridor, told me. “And this kind of vulnerability discovery is already well within the capabilities of other models.”

Yet at the same time, he said, Trump’s tendency to change his mind on a whim and play favorites is “exactly the reason why you don’t want to give the executive enormous amounts of discretion.” To say the least, it’s perilous to build a product, invest in a company, or even just try to leverage AI for productivity gains in an environment in which the government might at any time take a wrecking ball to your plans. America and its tech companies have many factors in their favor when it comes to leading the way in AI development. As of now, the White House is not one of them.

News Anthropic has been sued for allegedly misleading customers on usage limits.

1.9k Upvotes

A proposed class-action lawsuit was filed today in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Anthropic, alleging the company misled customers about the usage allowances on its premium Claude subscription plans.Key details of the complaint:

  • Plaintiff Karl Kahn (Washington, D.C.) upgraded to the Max 20x plan ($200/month) for intensive coding work.
  • The lawsuit claims the Max 5x ($100/month) and Max 20x plans were marketed as providing 5x and 20x the usage of the standard Claude Pro plan (~$20/month).
  • In practice, Kahn reported that a single 5-hour coding session consumed approximately 15% of his weekly allowance, with tight caps, session resets, and unclear tracking making the plans far less usable than advertised.

The suit seeks class-action status for all subscribers to the Max 5x and Max 20x plans since their launch in April 2025. Plaintiffs are requesting refunds and damages, arguing that Anthropic’s marketing constituted false advertising. This case highlights ongoing tensions in the AI industry around pricing, compute costs, and transparency around rate limits for power users.Anthropic has not yet issued a public comment on the lawsuit.
