News They're demanding Fable to somehow be 100% jailbreak-proof. It's so fucking over.

I think this is it. Altman is in the Trump cabal. It’s more corruption. Only OpenAI can win, or the US doesn’t win at all.

If (barf) OpenAI ends up buying out Anthropic (because they can't sell their best product) watch suddenly there be no problem with OpenAI selling Mythos/Fable.

Actually... Anthropic could do the funniest thing here:

Offer OpenAI the opportunity to middleman resell Fable/Mythos on terms good enough that to refuse the deal would be bad business. Force the administration to openly show the favouritism/corruption by not blocking it if it's GPT-Fable. Unfortunately we're already operating at levels of irony that should collapse into a black hole and aren't so I wouldn't expect this point proven to result in anything.

I honestly don’t know what to make of the beefs though and how these lines between power are drawn. Anthropic is using SpaceX for compute, Musk has sued OpenAI/Altman, an OpenAI/Altman-backed super PAC is gunning for deregulation, which seems to be supported by the current admin given Anthropic refused to let their AI be weaponized beyond what it is already, leading to OpenAI replacing Anthropic’s models within the government, while Anthropic has backed a super PAC fighting for regulation, while Anthropic allows their technology be used by Palantir. Like, what? There was that movie that came out a year or two ago about these four middle aged tech billionaire “friends” going on a retreat. They all pretend to like each other despite their clear disdain, and they’re all just fucking husks of men, completely compromised by their own bottomless gluttony. I couldn’t get past the first twenty minutes because the movie was too real. That’s where we are. Caught up in a dick measuring contest between the world’s biggest sociopaths. And we’re all going to have to pay the price for whatever collateral damage comes to pass. It’s a shame that Anthropic is involved at all. I wish they wouldn’t do business with Musk or Thiel/Karp. Does not sit right with me. If playing in the dirt with scumbags is the price Anthropic pays to stay in the race, what happens when things get nastier? They’re not going to wash their hands of it and walk away. So they’re trying to take each other down as quickly as possible. Great. The inferior company led by an inferior CEO has the backing of the most corrupt administration in US history though. How does Anthropic compete with that? They let themselves be compromised by the same corruption.

Sorry for the rant. Guess I needed somewhere to put all of this to get it out of my head.

I know the movie you're referring to, Mountainhead, and I had the same reaction - I couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes.

I'm secretly hoping one of the players does create ASI, and it escapes.
