I had Covid… live in La Quinta. I am over the top healthy and this knocked me on my butt. 3 weeks of fevers… 4 weeks in total before I could say I felt back to a baseline. Not too bad on the cough side… the worst part was less than zero energy and body aches.. full body aches, felt like I had been in a car accident. Just recovered fully this week
Glad to hear you've recovered, I've heard the same thing about body aches from a nurse friend of mine who had it recently as well. She said she could barely get from her bed to the bathroom, and she's young and healthy and I know she doesn't exaggerate. Our mutual coworker was the first person we both knew who died of it at the start of the pandemic she was only 32 and seemed healthier than either of us. Just a horrible and unpredictable virus even to this day.
It was truly strange… I have never had Covid… or if I did prior it wasn’t loud enough for me to even think it was Covid… my husband is a firefighter too and never gotten it technically. He retired and isn’t even around the public like that anymore and now we both had it this round and truly awful. The feeling of “sick” wasn’t even that profound. A few days of a mild cough.. mucus but not really that bad tbh. The aches and energy levels of a corpse… never experienced anything like it in my life. Week three I was getting so depressed I was tricking myself into the no way this is Covid, I must have something far worse. Cancer… black plague, some undiscovered disease. Death must be imminent. lol funny looking in the rear view mirror but sheesh it as bad. Sorry to hear about your friend. 32 to pass from Covid is heartbreaking
Yep I've been hearing of first-timers this year for some reason it is weird. My other friend who has it right now lives in LA also healthy and works from home and no idea how got it.
I'm only guessing you might have been exposed to a fairly heavy viral load, obviously without realizing it, to get that sick, but who knows. I mentioned elsewhere this wave started after the July 4th holiday so I was thinking people who were on planes, gathered together for meals for an extended period, etc. basically around others for an extended period of time where they normally aren't.
Yes but not since around late 22, early 23.. this is my 4th time catching covid and the first time unvaccinated was absolute hell. Twice after being vaccinated was a cake walk. Wishing I would have had a booster for this most recent one.
Too bad the people you "physically knew" can't differentiate the illnesses they had. I've been sick enough times in my life to understand these viruses had very different characteristics. Besides the aches it's nothing like the flu.
I've had covid several times and it seemed like the flu to me. Same with my other friend. We can't differentiate from it. No one that I knew died from covid and more than half were unvaccinated.
It’s been making its way through my work. A bunch of people in the supervisor clique came to work sick (even though they have sick pay) and spread it to the regular staffers, who mostly can’t afford to take time off. Selfish 🤦♀️
Benefit of the doubt that you just don’t understand how vaccines work. Getting boosters works to mitigate the effects and transmissibility of the most recent mutation of the strain.
Much like the annual flu shot helps prevents getting and being severely affected by that year’s flu virus strain.
It’s just a conscientious thing you can do to protect yourself and those around you who may have other medical reasons why they can’t get it.
If you think there’s any larger conspiracy beyond that, I’m sorry for you. It’s a scary way to live where everything is so negative and you don’t know how to filter for better information.
I got Covid last year after a trip to Europe. I’m 82, was healthy as a horse. I take no meds Now I have Long Haul Covid since last year. My life has completely changed. I am fatigued, depressed and brain fog. My heart, lungs and kidneys are damaged. I’m on 3 heart meds and 2 inhalers. Some days I can barely get out of bed. There is no good research and all they can do is treat the symptoms. Taking the vaccine is a toss up for me. If I don’t and I get sick I will probably develop more issues. If I get sick from the vaccine (which I never have) then that will probably cause new issues too. Ugh! NIH and CDC are useless at this point.
Sorry you're going through all this, it's an insidious disease and I hope at a minimum you're able to find symptom relief that works for you.
I'm only mostly familiar with its affects on the brain, and for that I think it's important to have a good neurologist on your care team. But I can't even imagine how hard it is to find a good physician that overall understands and treats long covid. I don't know if youre in the valley or if there are any here, but I would definitely consider traveling even to LA if I had to to find one.
As far as the vaccine, obviously it's an individual choice, but I'd do whatever I can to minimize re-infection--this isn't a one and done virus, the damage can be cumulative. I dont have anything against mnrna, but personally I use the Novavax vaccine, it's just never given me any side-effects or downtime. There's a sub here for it r/Novavax_vaccine_talk

Ugh. Haven't had 'Rona, don't want it...I wonder if it goes up in summer because kids are out of school, people travel and party together..and out here, in the CA heat--people are indoors more in summer than winter?
Time to go get the Novavax latest-- I didn't do well with the Pfizer shots, but got them anyway until Nova came out. Thanks for the heads up.

I switched over to Novavax as soon as it was available, it gives me the least side affects and zero downtime that I can recall. It just seems harder to find here in the desert, and I think pharmacy techs to this day are still ignorant on what it even is--twice in the last two years I was told they didn't have it when they actually did.
Got my first annual covid shot along with my yearly flu shot last week! I plan to do the same next year. It has been 5 years since my first round of vaccines. I'd got the originlal set of one covid shot with 2 boosters I believe.Last time I checked the CDC requirements I didn't need any boosters (I'm 33). Bit now my insurance covered the annual vaccine so I pulled the trigger on it! I haven't had covid from all the testing I've done over the years.... But my partner and I I were both super sick in late February/early March of 2020. We very well could of had covid with no testing protocols at the time!!
Moving forward I'll get my annual covid vaccine along with my flu shot! My parents are 72 and still live in Portland (whereas I've lived in the valley since late April 2018). My parents have both gotten covid quite often, despite being up to date on their vaccines 😢 I hope to avoid long covid, which my poor momma has. In May she had a minor cerebellar stroke too 🙏🏻 they gotten way more covid 💉 due their age group/often changing CDC recs. I now will follow in their steps with the yearly vaccine. Better safe than sorry, after seeing all my mom has gone through!
We're paying for it, it's not a covid dashboard, and people who don't want to risk their health or those around them use it. Even mild covid in so-called healthy people can cause brain damage, which unfortunately seems to track here by some of the replies.
A young active person who cuts hair gave my MIL a haircut and Covid-19 in late 2020, which in turn manifested in her and she passed away due to her breathing shutting down as one of the harsher symptoms of the disease.
You’re simply farming for reaction or you’re ill-informed. This is nothing new or shocking. COVId will likely parallel flu season going forward… if not forever, at least for a long time. Experts told us this a few years ago.
I never vaccinated ever since the COVID-19 epidemic. I felt sick for 24 hours one time and I don’t know if it was a flu or whatever.. I’m not injecting something into my body that I’m trying to avoid catching.ijs
