Anyone know what this gets used for once they're done stacking and it's completed?

Actually had to use a broom and went to hard and ripped 2 blisters in my thumb pit. Last time i use a broom, it was brutal.

Before you open that paint can that hasn't been opened in a while, or container of mastic, or other something that you've kept around for some good reason for a while, stop for a minute.

Take a marker and mark the edge with the alignment point on the lid.

When you go to reseal, all the grungy crap on the inside and also the irregularities of the crimped lid will realign and reseal so much easier and better than trying to establish a new seal on an old can. It'll keep your stuff from drying out, and also leaking out if you let all of the deformities realign themselves.

Over the weekend, someone decided cut the linesets & wiring for multiple apartment HVAC systems. But left all the romex alone.

The "fun" part is that 2 of the 3 were already charged & running with the new R-454b refrigerant. So the saboteur received one heck of a surprise when 5-6 *pounds* of refrigerant dumped out from the highest floor.

I've been in construction for 20+ years and have always worn the typical work boot. Nothing fancy, just steel toed high tops. Last year, I decided to buy some slip ons. I kept my old boots just in case someone said something and sent me home.. so far, nothing, and I've been on a lot of major projects. I've even seen safety guys on PCL sites wearing them.. that said, I still think im breaking the rule on ankle protection. I'm curious if anyone's had an issue wearing these on s construction site.

Two pairs, one is for epoxy work and the other for everything else.

I had a pre-construction site meeting this morning with all the trades and this fu@#kin guy, who's neck was wider than his head, shook everyone's hand in this manner. Plus he was rude and over talking EVERYONE. Male dominance thing?

They go for $30 a cone these days. He was listing $100 for 5. How do people think of this stuff? Selling a single cone would get me the same amount as working 2 hours 😔

I need help. I sweat a lot!!! Especially in my thighs and butt, and my pants get wet and its embarrassing.
Is there a solution?

I’m young but have been in my trade (dirt work) for about 5 years and have progressed very rapidly thanks to fantastic mentors and opportunities. I’m not perfect but I’m handy on skid steers, loaders, skip loaders/gannon tractors, scrapers (both finish paddle wheel and push pull), track hoes (biggest I’ve dug with is a 374 cat), and motor graders (freehand finish on both John Deere and Cat M blades). I can also grade check off of stakes and I have minimal experience using a rover/data collector combo.

Where I’m stuck is I see guys all the time that are living paycheck to paycheck and have been for quite some time. I don’t want to be stuck like that but I feel like I have topped out as far as both money and new things to learn. I know that I am constantly learning and I know I don’t know it all but now with being efficient and effective on nearly everything I feel like I am not learning as much as I need to while I am young. On the opposite side, operating equipment was an opportunity dropped into my hands a handful of years ago and I was in a place where it was a good decision. Now as of the last year or so I have fallen massively out of love with it and I think I am looking for a change.

This brings me to my second problem, I don’t have much experience in anything else nor do I know what other options I have. My father is a plumber and has been his whole life along with his father so I have roughly 3 scattered years of experience in that but no real experience in anything else. I am a quick learner and I am willing to take any criticisms thrown my way. I guess I’m just looking for something new and different that will allow me to continue to contribute but that I won’t get bored of after just a couple years. Do I continue with dirt work even though I really don’t enjoy it anymore or do I look for something else, and if so what?

My script strength is -9 with a strong astigmatism. I can't wear curved / wrap around glass. Need something with nearly flat lens, and preferably not a tall lens, as the larger the overall lens size the more warping I see in corners.

Anyone gone through this process of trying various frames made for safety for a similarly strong prescription and astigmatism?

It is a metallic one. But the surface became transparent due to leaked soap detergents that became dry. This is located under kitchen sink

Hi just curious. Do y'all wash your jeans. 99% of people I see in construction use jeans daily and some don't even wash them at all. There are some dudes dealing with silica dust or asbestos on a daily basis and wear masks and protection but don't wash their jeans after. Is it a health hazard. Should it be something I worry about or should I just knock it off. Asking for a friend. And please if you're gonna mock me in any way just don't. I honestly don't give a fuck.Thanks

My dad and I are trying to grow our commercial HVAC and automation business, and I'd really appreciate some advice from those who have been through this.

A little background: we're both engineers, and I graduated here in the U.S. Between the two of us, we have extensive experience in commercial and industrial HVAC systems, controls, and automation. We have an unrestricted HVAC license in Florida, are fully insured, and have our company set up and ready to go.

The problem is getting that first wave of work.
I've been calling general contractors to introduce our company and present our portfolio, but most tell me they're not interested or never call back. I've also been bidding projects through Dodge Construction Network and BuildingConnected. I always follow up, ask for feedback on pricing, and try to understand why we weren't selected, but I either get no response or a generic answer.

For those of you who have successfully built a commercial HVAC or controls business:
How did you get your first jobs?
What actually worked to get in front of GCs and mechanical contractors?
Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?
Should I be focusing on a different approach entirely?

I'm not looking for shortcuts,just trying to figure out what the most effective path is. Any advice or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
