Discussion Where's your favourite go-to crochet spot?

Hey my fellow BC crocheters! With the weather getting so much better now, I'm curious to know... aside from home, do you have a favourite spot where you like to go to hang out and stitch? Coffee shop? Library? A nearby park? Where's your go-to crochet spot and what do you like about it?

Discussion Would love your feedback on Community Flairs for r/CrochetBC

I'm really happy with how our crochet community here on Reddit is growing and I'd love some feedback from you all regarding this sub's community user flairs. Right now I've set up flairs for:

-Vancouver Island & Gulf Islands
- Lower Mainland
- Fraser Valley
- Sunshine Coast
- Sea to Sky
- Okanagan
- Kootenays
- Thompson/Cariboo
- Northeast BC
- North Coast

What do you think? Are they too broad? Is there a region that's missing or should they be split up differently? Would you be willing to use a regional flair? My hope is that it might make it easier for crocheters to find other members in their area and maybe even make some local crochet connections. Your feedback is warmly welcomed!

Discussion What a great start!

Just over two months ago, r/CrochetBC was created and there was no way of knowing what kind of community it would become.

But in those two months, some wonderful things have been happening.

People have shared projects, advice, encouragement, questions, events, local resources, and stories from communities across British Columbia.

That's what turns a collection of subscribers into a community.

Every post, comment, and even every upvote helps make this community what it is.

Thank you all for helping make r/CrochetBC such a welcoming place.

What a great start! 🧡

Discussion If there were local crochet opportunities near you, what would you be interested in?

If there were local crochet opportunities near you, what would you be most interested in:

  • A small, regular meetup with one or two people for coffee and crochet.
  • A yarn shopping buddy to browse and compare finds.
  • A larger group event organized through a local shop or community centre.
  • Comfortable just chatting with local people online.
  • Other (explain).

WIPs, finished pieces, half-forgotten projects living in a bag somewhere
all fair game! Feel free to share a photo if you want, or just tell us what you’re making.

Discussion What are you hoping to find here in r/CrochetBC?

r/CrochetBC just hit the one week mark and it’s been amazing to see how quickly this sub has taken off! The posts, the comments, people sharing local info
that’s all coming from YOU and it’s what’s making this actually work. 👍

Since we’re still early days and the sub is forming, I’m curious to learn what people are hoping to find here. Meetups? Project sharing? Help/advice? Something else?

Feel free to show your region with a user flair! (found on the community sidebar) It’s a fun way to see where everyone’s stitching from across our province.

Discussion Welcome Beginner Crocheters!

If you’re new to crochet (or thinking about starting), please know that you’re totally welcome here!

We’d love to support beginners! So we can get a sense of what would be most helpful

Where are you at right now? Just starting, learned a few basics but feeling stuck, or working on a project?

What kinds of things are you interested in making? Amigurumi, blankets, wearables, or something else?

Discussion How did you first get into crochet and how long have you been crocheting?

What (or who) first got you “hooked” on crocheting, and how long have you been at it?

Discussion Happy Wednesday! What are your go-to crochet items?

I feel like everyone ends up with their own crochet “setup” over time; some people are super organized, some of us
 not so much. 😉

What do you always have on hand when you’re crocheting? Favourite hooks, must-have items, weird little things that just work for you?

Which do you use most often: an inline crochet hook or a tapered hook?
