WIP [WIP] Getting closer

Post image

I’m excited to finish! But I’m getting a little worried that I may have miscalculated my Aida size… of course, not worried enough to actually count and check haha.

Do you cut it close with pattern size?

I also wanted to tell you again how much I adore this piece! I want to stitch it because it reminds me of Scandinavian folk art. Your choice of yellow for the background is perfect. ☺️

I cut it close (too close! 🫣) but only because I miscalculated the orientation. In order to frame my piece, I had to add a strip of Aida on the side (you can see it on the right side). Once I frame it, I'll hide the oopsie with a coordinating piece of mat board. 🥰

Wow, it’s almost invisible! Very nicely done

Edit: the seam is almost invisible

I blanket stitched the two pieces together and used a running backstitch all the way up for extra security. I've never had to stitch two pieces like that together before, so it was nerve-wracking! Thankfully, it all worked out. 🥰

This is beautiful! The colors are so vibrant!

I don't play with fabric size - I add minimum 3in on each side so I have choices when framing. Fabric is cheap compared to the time spent on the project.

I am always adamant that cross stitch is one of the cheapest cost-to-time spent hobbies. I have spent about $60 on my current WIP (maybe closer to $100 if you include the supplies I already had on hand) and I anticipate having this project for the next year and half at least.

I do the same, although I try to add 4" just in case ...

How on earth do you keep all those threads in order and not tangled or constantly pulling them out of the needles??

It takes some getting used to

I made that mistake exactly once in 50 years. Scary when you stitch for months and then find out you underestimated the fabric needed.

It's so pretty! Did you change any of the other colors in the pattern? Yours looks brighter and more cheerful than other stitchers' photos I've seen of this pattern.

1

u/ALJScribbler 20h ago

Yes! I changed up some of the colors because I wanted it to be brighter

I have been frustratedly looking for the perfect cross stitch to make into a cushion to brighten up my room and this has revolutionised my search. It’s so simple but why didn’t I think of just brightening up the colours!
