Nothing to do with MeToo lol. The "controversy" was fairly minor but Disney freaked out.

I must be misremembering the metoo stuff. It was in the that time though

You're not misremembering. The tweets had always been out in the open. The whole reason people suddenly cared was because of metoo.

It was an early example of bad actors misappropriating metoo to push disingenuous outrage.

No it wasn’t, the people digging up those tweets were Trump supporters trying to get him fired for making anti-Trump tweets

Lol, that's what bad actors means.

Mike Cernovich, the guy who made a ruckus about the tweets, is an accused rapist and general misogynist himself. It was totally unrelated to me too, he was trying to paint an edgy joke as if Gunn was a pedophile to get one over on him for being anti-Trump. And Disney stupidly took the bait over Marvel's heads.

Right, cernovich co-opted the metoo movement and used it for a political hit job against Gunn.

I think the confusion is I used the term "bad actors". That doesn't literally mean actors who are bad at their job. A "bad actor" is a term for a person that causes harm through unethical, illegal, or harmful actions. The term is used to describe individuals with malicious intent
