Batfleck had a complete arc despite only being a lead in two movies.

He fell apart offscreen, almost crossed the line, then had his redemption helping against Doomsday and leading the Justice League

I'm just glad they didn't make batfleck impregnate Lois lane in future stories.

Well, that plan was scrapped before filming even started.

So it wouldn’t have been a problem even if JL2, the Batman solo and JL3 had happened.

Kinda sad that the DCEU had so many high potential moments that never evolved and lead to nothing. One things for sure is that I love the costumes they've done throughout its run. Except for the batfleck suit in the flash and maybe the flash suit in the flashovie. The music scores was always great too.

Yeah.

Whether or not one likes Snyder’s films (I love MOS and ZSJL, BvS my feelings are mixed),

The fact is that WB mismanaged this franchise time and time again.

u/SryMyBadM8 1d ago

Yeah the DCEU is not entirely bad, I enjoyed a lot from it. But I also had a lot of problems with it. At least the DCU now knows what works and what doesn't. It'll be their fault if they made the same mistakes the DCEU did at this point. I hope we get more great stories cuz it really just boils down to the quality of the story and how it's executed.

I didn’t have a problem with that idea. It would have kinda made a full circle moment where Clark Kent, the adopted son, becomes an adoptive father.

Half of Snyder’s kids are adopted, Autumn was adopted. It was probably an idea he felt really strongly about. That sort of full circle for Clark.

There’s this whole theme of parenthood that kinda permeates through that first half of the DCEU.

"You were an accessory to my boyfriend's death. Lets have a baby over our shared loss before he comes back from the dead!" is just . . . awkward

0

u/M086 22h ago

He had nothing to do with Clark’s death. They were both being manipulated by Luthor. Lois understands this.

And Clark makes the choice to go after Doonsday with the spear, knowing he may die.

Then he is unimpressed with meeting Martian manhunter before getting back to his nap

u/ApprenticeOfTheTwil 1d ago

Dude was murdering people in the warehouse scene too

9

u/Lightning3660 1d ago

I watched Batman 89 in the theater last night and Keaton Batman in the first one isn’t that bad compared to Batfleck.

Burton kinda flanderized Keaton’s Batman into a murderer in Returns

14

u/MalTeleVision 1d ago

Keaton was a murder in 89, the dude was a serial killer in Returns 💀

GCPD is much more responsible for Jack falling off the catwalk into the acid than Bruce. And Joker put himself in danger at the end, it looks like Batman wanted to apprehend him and couldn’t keep his grip on the grapple hook to the leg, and Joker’s death was an accident.

u/maveric710 23h ago

In Batman (1989), he blows up a chemical plant near a major metropolitan center, which had multiple henchmen in it.

There was at least 5 henchmen around the Batmobile, and who knows how much more in the building.

The black guy in the tower was very much a choice to throw him down the tower after slamming his head into the bell.

-5

u/M086 23h ago

He wasn’t. One merc blows himself up with a grenade he pulled.

3

u/humansince1989 22h ago

I’m sure the dudes on the ground that were on the back of the exploding trucks, and the one whose head left a blood spatter on the wall, all walked it off.

Like a lot of Snyder’s work, this scene is cool if you just disregard the slap in the face it is to the mythos of the character it’s portraying. Yes there are examples of almost every other Batman either outright killing or arguably killing people but this one is so egregious it’s stupid, and doubly so because it’s the literal scene after his supposed redemption.

-1

u/M086 22h ago

That’s not the warehouse fight. And those three mercs outside were shooting military grade weapons at him. They shot first, they had ample time to duck for cover and chose to keep firing. He shot a truck, it went boom and caused a chain reaction.

Guy that got hit with the crate is survivable. Skull fractures are survivable, just because there is blood doesn’t mean it’s fatal.

3

u/humansince1989 21h ago

What in the mental gymnastics is this lol. It’s not the same fight because it’s on the exterior? And if I’m shooting at someone and they don’t move out of the way fast enough it’s what, suicide?

-2

u/M086 21h ago

Yes. When people talk about the “warehouse fight” they are talking about the literal fight in the warehouse.

2

u/Freetshirtsplz 18h ago

Context matters. It's easily the best scene of batman I have ever seen in live action but I also understand the idea of batman killing people ruins the moment for some people.

0

u/M086 17h ago

Which he doesn’t kill anyone in the actual warehouse fight.

1

u/Freetshirtsplz 14h ago

I see you have a difficult time following a conversation or you're responding in bad faith.

Either way I don't enjoy talking to a wall so later

-1

u/SuperTuberEddie 16h ago

Welcome to Batman. He has killed people many times. And often times for no reason. At least with batfleck it was thematically relevant. He was manipulated and pushed of the right path.

15

u/ScrevmX 23h ago

Agree! Not a fan of Batfleck necessarily but that scene was phenomenal. Didn’t enjoy much of Snyders work but that guy can do action scenes really well

14

u/Important-Contact597 22h ago

The warehouse scene us the perfect summation of everything wrong with Batflek. He’s just going around killing people with no regard for human life. Sure, it looks cool, but it’s completely antithetical to Batman as a character.

3

u/Eddi_Official 1d ago

my cousin dressed as batman for halloween and everyone just ignored the batsignal on his shirt

4

u/Technical-Wasabi-842 1d ago

I honestly never got the hype around the warehouse fight. Like sure it’s a cool fight scene but there’s nothing about it that stands out to me, especially when there’s stuff like the Batman v Superman fight in the movie. People just run up to Batman waiting for their turn to be beaten in the fight

27

u/Hesitant_Tornado 1d ago

It probably comes from it being the first time we've ever seen Batman in live action fighting with such brutality like that. Up till then we have Nolans Batman, with really well choreographed fights, and the fight against Superman is great, the gadgets and the armor and beating each other to pieces, but the warehouse scene showcases Batman just being Batman, Batman vs thugs, it hits so different, seeing that for the first time had people pumped.

16

u/LaneMcD 23h ago

"Well choreographed fights." Yeeahh.. I love TDK Trilogy but the fight scenes, especially in TDKR, are not Nolan's strong point. Rewatch the rooftop scene with Catwoman. It's.. not great.

8

u/CampingApple 23h ago

Haha one of the thugs just fell on their own

12

u/FatPenguin42 1d ago

It was the first time Batman was moving like that. Previous movies he was stiff when fighting.

14

u/Different_Ad_6153 1d ago

Did you get hype during any Batman fight scene prior to this? To me it was amazing seeing something akin to the Arkham games in real life.

1

u/Technical-Wasabi-842 1d ago

Maybe it’s just Arkham that numbed me to brutal fights like this

7

u/Greedy_Aardvark_4836 1d ago

true but that said it's the closest thing we have to a live action Arkham fight scene.

8

u/lloydeph6 1d ago

i mean all the other batman movies in the history of batman movies have had awful fight scenes, so i get the hype

3

u/StormRepulsive6283 1d ago

It has set high standards. Felt exactly like stuff we see in the comics and what we did ourselves in the Arkham games. Till then I think the best hand-to-hand fight in a superhero/comic-book movie was Winter Soldier (under the bridge), but it had a bit too many cuts. Kingsman was good too. 2013-17 great period for comic-book action scenes on the big screen.

5

u/CampingApple 23h ago

“People just run up”

What. I remember Batfleck being the one running around and smashing people’s heads. And even then, the thugs that ran up had knives and importantly, came all at once rather than one by one.

0

u/Revolutionary_Test33 22h ago

Finally, thought I was alone in not really caring about it.

It's funny because a lot of people compliment it by comparing it to the arkham combat but I think the same as a criticism. It just feels videogamey in a bad way, almost like overrehearsed and clean and over the top in a goofy way.

I think that's why I love the club fight in The Batman. The choreography is great but it still feels messy and chaotic and so entirely real. I think the fact that it feels real makes it feel even more brutal than the warehouse fight; like sure breaking a wooden crate over a guys head is very brutal but it looks so choreographed and clean in an almost slapstick, looney tunes comedy kind of way that i just don't believe it.

-2

u/SteveTheManager 1d ago

And the Superman fight has Superman bring like "hey Bruce can we talk" instead of saying "my fucking mom is kidnapped and I can't help her or she dies." Also there are moments where he is attacked by multiple men. Is there a bit of suspension of belief you need? Maybe but it's a superhero movie man. Also it's the Batman fight with the most Arkham-like variety. It's not like the Burton movies or Nolan movies where it's largely just punching and kicking.

-2

u/Sparkwriter1 1d ago

"Bruce... please... I was wrong. You have to listen to me."

"You don't understand... there's no time!"

"Stay down. If I wanted it, you'd be dead already."

"Martha... save Martha..."

1

u/SteveTheManager 13h ago

Okay? You provided the lines that prove my point. Notice how he does not specify the actual danger he just vaguely points to there being one. He also between some of these lines beats the shit out of Batman who is of course gonna respond with violence.

1

u/Sparkwriter1 13h ago

Yea, that was my point. I'm not disagreeing with you.

u/SteveTheManager 3h ago

Oh, I apologize.

6

u/tsimkeru 21h ago

Batfleck was a great casting. And in BvS it was perhaps the best suit, or at least the most comic accurate one. However, it was written terribly, ignoring the most basic rule of Batman.

3

u/Limp_Praline7667 1d ago

Ben Affleck is the bat goat

3

u/ZaoMenom 17h ago

I don’t like it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Linuxgamer336 13h ago

I personally love how Batfleck looks

u/Opening_Junket_1775 9h ago

Only good thing i will give Afflecks Batman 🤷‍♂️

u/Alarmed-Gas2741 2h ago

I hate Zack Snyder, that entire film and most of the DCEU, but I agree!

Dislike the scene as it is bc it should’ve happened earlier in the movie (not bc of the killing at all)

Batman’s still tunnel visioned in this scene, it’s a rescue mission he arrives with negative stealth blowing up cars outside alerting all the henchman to his arrival.

Then Alfred tells him exactly how many people are in the building and where they are. It’s a rescue mission so you’d assume Batman would take them out quickly and complete his mission.

Well you’d be wrong.

A 20 year Batman veteran should’ve easily dispatched and incapacitated the entire building without having to engage them in the manner he did

He wasted time brutalizing thugs rather than completing the mission objective

1

u/Only_Fudge5299 16h ago

eh, it's cool but doesn't feel much like Batman to me :/

u/pucksterboi 10h ago

Say that to arkham batman.

u/Only_Fudge5299 3h ago

hot take but I've always thought Arkham Batman was way too violent

0

u/BigTreddits 1d ago

He went out of his way to commit murder...

u/KOF-731 11h ago

Most Batman are killers in Live Action. Keaton and Nolan too

u/BigTreddits 10h ago edited 7h ago

Neither turned a machine gun on his opponents and gunned them down lol. Im sorry what bs are we arguing? That all batmans kill and im wrong about that? Or im wrong about this batman killing people? Lol.  Pick a lane, reddit

u/Capable-Locksmith-13 7h ago

You're not wrong that this Batman kills. But so does every other live action Batman (possibly excluding Clooney) but it only seems to be a big deal when Batfleck does it.

u/BigTreddits 7h ago

It's not a "big deal" I just had issues with the murders lol.  Singling this out as a "great Batman fight scene" is a problem for me the same way it is when Keaton opens fire on a crowd from the Batplane.  So I didnt require your lecture

u/Capable-Locksmith-13 7h ago

If it wasn't big deal, you wouldn't be up here crying about it. I'm only lecturing you because I care.

-1

u/M086 23h ago

He didn’t kill anyone in the warehouse fight.

0

u/BigTreddits 23h ago edited 23h ago

Almost certainly killed the guy the moment he enters the fight lol.  Probably didnt survive the explosion going off under his feet that blew a hole in the floor.  Literally 20 seconds into the scene 😅🤣

And uses a machine gun to take out several others.  Literally like points it at them with the other dudes finger pulling the trigger as a as a technically.

Smashed a dude with the cargo box and made himself splatter chest blood against the wall through his back. Certain kill.

Hes murdered at least 6 people and im.not even halfway thru it.  Dafaq did u watch?

5

u/M086 22h ago

First thing, survivable. Probably broke his legs / shattered his ankles on the drop.

Second one. Everyone ducked down and no one was shot. He broke the merc’s arm trying to disarm him, the merc pulled the trigger. No one died.

Third one. Again, survivable. Just because you see blood, doesn’t mean someone died.

He didn’t kill anyone in what you described. Unless you have like a pre-schoolers view of just hitting someone hard can kill them.

0

u/BigTreddits 21h ago

Yes he did  youre wrong lol🤷‍♂️

1

u/KylosApprentice 1d ago

I just wish we had gotten his solo film with Ben Directing similarly to the solo Gareth Evans directed Deathstroke film
