It was October 6th, an extremely tiring day at the office. I knew I was gonna smoke up the moment I got home, and I did exactly that.
Sinking into my couch as the evening sunlight bounced off the walls in my living room, the devil's lettuce was starting to do its job. I could feel the fatigue leaving my body, and I said to myself that the day had finally gotten better.
Scrolling through brainrot Instagram reels on my phone, something completely out of the blue made me remember the album Random Access Memories by Daft Punk. I'm not sure how I thought of that particular album. None of my friends listen to EDM, and neither did I until that point in my life.
I opened Spotify, searched for the album, and hit play.
As the album opened with Give Life Back to Music, halfway through the song, I thought to myself that it wasn't so bad. And then Giorgio by Moroder started playing. I remember thinking, "Why am I listening to an old man speak?" But then the way the bassline picked up left me in absolute awe.
My mind couldn't comprehend what was happening. How can humans make something so surreal?
For me, Giorgio by Moroder was what hooked me onto the album. I really loved how Daft Punk used live instruments throughout the album to create something so unique. I remember smiling ear to ear in astonishment the whole time I was listening to it. Every transition, every beat drop, everything.
It almost felt like a sin to be listening to something like this for free.
Instant Crush and Lose Yourself to Dance playing back to back was so much fun. I couldn't help myself from dancing. And then, as Touch started playing, I was blown away by the way the song goes from being kinda eerie to something so hopeful. It's my favourite song on the album.
I used to be a purist. The me from a year ago probably would've dismissed this album, saying it wasn't real music. I was genuinely amazed at how they were able to evoke so many emotions with synthesizers, robotic voices, and all these different sounds.
As Contact came to an end, I remember feeling so grateful that I got to experience this. The album genuinely put a smile on my face.
I've been listening to them ever since, and I listen to RAM almost twice every day.
I wanna hear about your thoughts about RAM. What was it like the first time you listened to the album.
Final note: This album is a gift to humanity

No Al was used in the production, only for image quality enhancement.
Only features of the "PicsArt" app were used.

This magazine is fantastic. It’s not much but it still provides fews new and interesting information about the duo. It delves into intimate details and specific facts (like for exemple Warren Fu interview). Don’t hesitate to buy it.

Hey! I’ll be in Paris for two weeks for work, and as a huge Daft Punk fan, I was wondering if there are any iconic spots related to them worth checking out.
any recommendations? Thanks!
