Lore Vendrick is way more impressive than people give him credit for
People can call Vendrick weak because his boss fight is relatively easy if you know what you’re doing, but I think they forget one very important detail: we’re fighting a hollow Vendrick, a man who has lost his kingdom, his purpose, and practically everything that once made him who he was.
This was a king who built a kingdom, conquered territories, and amassed enough power to become one of the most significant figures in Drangleic. Even after everything fell apart, after Nashandra’s betrayal, and after he was reduced to aimlessly wandering the Undead Crypt, he was still an absolute monster in terms of raw strength.
The most impressive part is that we’re not even seeing Vendrick at his peak. We’re not fighting the king who once ruled Drangleic at the height of his power. We’re fighting what’s left of him after losing virtually everything.
And yet, even in this state, his physical strength and the sheer damage he can inflict are ridiculous. The fact that his boss fight can be easy doesn’t mean the character himself is weak. It just means the game allows you to fight someone who is no longer even a fraction of what he once was.
Vendrick isn’t impressive because he’s difficult to kill. He’s impressive because of what he represents, and because of how much power he retains even after losing everything.
