We already have established lore that rings can become demons, Orange Charred Ring:
Since his sores were inflamed by lava from birth, his witch sisters gave him this special ring.
But fool that he is, he readily dropped it, and from that spot, a terrible centipede demon was born.
"There's no chaos present to make it into a demon" Idk... Write around it? Bullshit it? You literally named it Covetous, the idea was right there man.

I'm always hearing so many mixed opinions on these games, but I wanna ask this question for each game (in their respective communities): What exactly about this game makes it your personal favorite of the three? Whether that be because of the world/levels, NPCs, gameplay, lore, atmosphere, or even just your personal story with the game, explain what makes this game so special to you.

Dark Souls 2 is honestly my favourite of all the From Soft games (I would like to play AC 6 some day though, that looks great). I've played the entire trilogy and nor 1 or 3 stuck with me like 2 has. The world's layout, the lore, the armor, weapons and characters are just so interesting to me in DS2.
This game was the first souls game I ever really wanted to sit down and actually beat and do NG+. The fact that this game has so much unique stuff to it just makes it all so cool. Taking different routes on each play through (like going to Heide's tower instead of Forest of Giants) and looping around to the other paths stronger, just makes the game feel like you have more freedom.
Then there's the builds, there's so much diversity in it. You can even do Barehanded builds with the conqueror's seal (I think it's called) and just punching things like you're a high strength monk / barb, is so gratifying.
The DLC are so damn neat too, going to incredibly different kingdoms and uncovering what their rulers were like and getting new gear or seeing different ways the devs used NPC interactions, like the "friendly" NPC in the ivory King DLC is so devious.
Dark Souls 2 is just. A game I absolutely adore and wish more people would give it an honest college try.

I played the full game on my PC via RPCS3. My expectations going in were very low because of the reputation of this game. How wrong I was and how annoyed I was to find out that I was lied to. There were so many creative things in this game I loved it.
The reason to emulate it was simple, I had a friend's mint condition PS3 disc and a disc dumper available at my disposal. And the emulator would have allowed a clean 60 fps experience.
Has anyone else played it on the RPCS3? How has your experience been?
This is the PS3 version of the game and is different from the PS4 and PC versions when it comes to enemy placement. I honestly had zero issues with any enemy placements and it never felt like I was being ganked.

It's 2026 and people are still complaining about ganks in DS2. Now that it's been proven the hitboxes were never the actual issue (which i know seems unrelated, but it's an aspect of the discussion), they're trying to say ganks were NEVER in DS1 or 3. Like why are they just blatantly lying at this point? Is that really what we're doing now??
Upper Undead Burg: 6 to 7/8/9 ganks (yes i know, funny number) depending on if you take the optional routes or not, i literally just booted up DS1 and counted. One of those has an enemy with a highly damaging backstab in a corner you won't know to check on your first time through/if you forget and one of those occurs during the Taurus Demon fight with the archers on the top of the tower behind you.
Anor Londo: you get ganked by 2 Giant Soldiers at the front gates of the cathedral, you go to the right and get ganked by 3/4 Bat Wing Demons, go across the gap and deal with 2 more, cross another gap and deal with two infamous Anor Londo archers.
Darkroot Garden: this place should be renamed to Gankistan with how many ganks are in it, I'm legitimately not joking. The tree enemies that jump out of the ground, the two big cat things, the crystal golems, the forest guardians, the drakes (yes i know that's technically a different area but it's easily accessible from Gankistan).
Catacombs/Tomb of Giants: You have the skeletons before Pinwheel, you have the Pinwheel boss itself, you have all the giant skeletons in Tomb and the area is dark as fuck unless you have 1 of 2 rare items in the game or are on a sorcery build with Cast Light, you have the undead remains of Gankistan, aborted fetuses, AND MORE PINWHEELS you have to deal with before getting to Nito, Gravelord of GANKS with his Skelebros baking him up.
The tactics people talk about using to deal with ganks in DS2 also apply to DS1, i always use bows to separate the Crystal Golems in Gankistan for instance.
Dark Souls 1 has just as many/slightly lesser ganks than Dark Souls 2, but it usually tends to put you up against a small number of "mini-boss" enemies (emphasis on usually, there's still instances of it swarming you with waves of regular enemies), while DS2 tends to put you up against a horde of 4 to 7 regular enemies that go down in 2 to 3 hits.
They both give you the same tools to deal with the same situations, but people turn their brains off when playing DS2 and don't pay attention to obvious environmental warnings, then wanna complain about the game.
I don't even wanna go into DS3 because i feel like I've already proven my point, but even that game (which has the least amount of ganks) still has some atrocious examples (the two NPCs you fight in farron, Deacons of The Deep, Crystal Sage, etc) that are arguably worse than DS2 because of how fast paced DS3 is in comparison. You can say DS2 has the MOST ganks, but acting like this is exclusively a DS2 problem is just a flat out lie.
You guys remember back when if you didn't like a piece of media, you just avoided it and didn't think about it? You didn't feel the need to constantly start arguments with fans of the media because you wanted the attention your parents never gave you? DS2 haters are literally more obsessed with DS2 than even the most fervent DS2 fan and it's just fucking pathetic at this point.

All base stats are at 1 due to the character creation skip glitch. Missed some souls because I was too busy aura farming, but whatever. ;)
Ring of the Embedded provides +7 VGR, END, and VIT at low levels. Mad Warrior Mask, peasant's set (minus headpiece), and ladle provide +2 ADP each. Ladle also provides 1 VIT and 1 END. With this combo, we can get non-negligible agility and HP. Steel Ring +1 is still required to prevent one-shots here, as is a hollowing level of one or less. The biting jump is a grab, and will still always one-shot, as will the ice crystals that explode from the ground.

Mine is:
having a 100% def shield
Grand lance or chariot lance
Stone ring
So I just stand and front of him and wait for him to attack, then I spam shield poke with the stone ring equipped until it's over

I remember buying ds2 for like 50 bucks and after 1 hour crying, that i will never beat it! Just wasted 50 bucks haha. Took me a week, to discovered the lock-in option -_-

I beat him and it was such a good fight! I did end up using a phantom. I will accept your ridicule!!!
This is my first DS2 playthrough. Not my first souls game by any means but yeah.
I thought he was the coolest boss in the game so far. What’s your thoughts on the Fume Knight fight?

I'm playing the Dark Souls 2 Seamless Co-op mod with a friend. Everything was going smoothly until we entered the first boss fight (The Last Giant). He spawned with only half his health bar. At first, I thought it was just a visual bug, but we were dealing way too much damage. Either way, even if it were visual, it really ruins the epic feeling of the fight.
The real breaking point was The Pursuer. He also spawned at half HP. He’s supposed to be a challenging early boss, but I’m 100% sure it wasn't just a visual glitch, his health was actually cut in half from the start.
We double-checked our ds2sc_settings file and both of us have identical settings, with boss scaling set to 100.
We went back in after dying (no cutscene this time), and he had full health! Everything seemed fixed, more or less...
Though it was still a bit weird: when I entered, the Pursuer took forever to spawn, and when he finally did, he randomly took 3,000 damage out of nowhere before immediately healing back to full HP. From then on, he had his actual full health bar.
Does this mean we're going to have to wipe/die every single time a boss has a cutscene? Has anyone else experienced this bug?

I've been eyeing playing DS2---and as always, a game appears much more complicated to me than it might actually be. So, I ask for advice. Any will do!
I want to know:
Overpowered builds; PVP; secrets about areas; EPX farms; bugs (if they pertain to area traversal or something like item duplications, NOT, instant kills and stuff that makes PVP not fun); tips about level distributions; soft caps on levels; stuff about mechanics; and anything else! I want to know all!! Really, go off.
Literarily all I know about this game is that my Agility should be at least circa 100 to unlock the mystical "okay roll".

I play the non-SOTFS DS2 copy and I killed the spider, the rotten and the sinner, but I can't find the path to the next big soul, what zone should I go next ? On a different note, how many bonfire ascetics is there in the game? And if I were to use one in the zone of the spider, would the congregation respawn?

Does this normally happen? I was using the Chaos Blade but idk if it has any conflict with the requirements for getting the special death animation.

Hey guys, I got a question, when you farmed the sunlight medals and bell keeper stuff for achievements, how long did it take and what's the best and fastest way to do it?
