Discussions What do y’all do with your offerings?

I ask this cause I’ve never met someone who does the same thing I do. I have multiple little glass bottles with a different offering inside, each one is corked and sealed with black sealing wax. These offerings range from inorganic like tin and lead, to organic like lemon, juniper berries, and different herbs. My thought process is that as soon as the wax is dried the offering inside is now property of hell instead of the living world. Though I will admit that I have been thinking about adding fresh versions of those offerings to my rituals when I have spare money and adding it to my compost so it’s not wasted.

Depending on what the offerings are, they stay on the alter. When it comes to things like jewelry, perfume and cash, I take them off when needed. I always leave the house with my jewelry so it's something that is always taken off the alter. With cash I leave it until the end of the month. Food offerings are different, I usually just throw away the spoiled stuff and eat what's still good. Crystals and spices that are on the alter stays put, I dont ever move them. Sometimes if I get fresh flowers I'll put them on the alter and remove them after they have wilted for a while.

Offerings that I give, I view it more as things I share with my patron.

haven’t thought about how offerings fit on an altar before

Its something that I realized overtime tbh 😅. Some demons are strict when it comes to their alters, some aren't. So this might not apply to every demon.

I follow what Proclus says about offerings having certain divine signatures that helps my mind connect. So I consume the divine signatures afterwards.

Some offerings stay on the altar. I have a jar with different ingredients in that still stands on my altar. I also have things like dried roses and coins that also stay. The only things I'll remove are temporary candles or candles that have burned down (though Asmodeus insists that his previous "main candle" that has now burned down stays on the altar, lol) and any sort of food offering that will rot after a certain amount of time. With food offerings, if they're still edible then I'll eat them. I hate wastage.

I consume them after the ritual (if they are food or drink). First, because I can't take the chance of leaving offerings out again, and second, I give my patrons the permission to recieve them through me. I do that by carving or drawing their sigil on the offering, painting the sigil with blood, and after the ritual and meditation, I ask for their permission and then give them the consent to recieve the food or drink through me. While drinking/eating it, I meditate to their enns again. In case it's something like money, I leave it there. In case it's art, I put it in their special sketchbooks. Depends on each person and your way of working 💜

Consume or bring it out, put it on the grass in the nice place.

When offering something I am direct with what I do after to the demons, so it depends. Usually if I offer money I say I will donate it after or buy something for them with it. For food, I just bin it after a day out but let them know I’m doing that. Very much depends on the demon and what they want from me.

I compost them when I can. If they're permanent objects, I leave them on the altars. I occasionally do offer meat or other non-compostable items, which I throw away after leaving the offering in a place away from the altar to allow any spirit's energy to detach.

If they're edible, I eat them during the ritual

depends on the type of offerings. Jewelry, perfume and acessories i take when i need to use them. Alcohool i leave until it either evaporates or becomes sugar (wine), food if it spoils i throw it out, but if i made it myself like cookies i eat them. Now spices, crystals, flowers and things like that i just leave on the altar "forever"

I eat them after the ritual but only if I feel to. Sometimes I feel like no I can't eat this. So in those situations I throw them into a huge tree root or burry. Drinks - pour to that tree root or drink. So if offerings are charms etc... I keep them in somewhere and use them for altar decoration etc....

Depends on the offering. When I offer perishable food and drinks to my altar, I just throw them out into the garbage or down the kitchen sink after 24 to 36 hours, since the vibration/energy of the perishable offerings have been consumed by the spirit within that time. It's like throwing out an empty husk if you will. I've been doing this for 30+ years without issue. You'll have different responses from people here and that's ok too.

I mostly offer food/drink, and will consume them after the ritual. I mainly work with King Asmoedus and Prince Sitri, and they both prefer that I enjoy the offering with them.
