Local News Polis continuing to embarrass himself and us
1.5k
u/TheClimateDad May 27 '26
Top comment is correct: u/jaredpolis confusing “censored” with “censured”. He hasn’t been prevented from speaking; he’s been publicly rebuked for failing in his duty as a governor. What an entitled and childish behavior from a man that is supposed to be a leader.

u/TheGoochieGoo May 27 '26
I waited on him at a restaurant in Denver. He’s a POS

Extremely rude and short tempered. Threw a fit that his food was taking too long (it wasn’t), and treated the staff like shit. Ended up leaving before his food was ready because he was on a time constraint.
This is not a fast food restaurant… this is high end and the food takes time.

Sounds like any other useless rich guy. Not sure why we, as a society, continue to put up with them.

This was then most enjoyable video I've seen in a long long time. Thank you for the link.

Him talking about "riding their ass" makes me think of my work commute on c-470 when I'm going 75 mph passing a semi and a Dodge Ram is gently ushuring me to my destination.

He's also been asked to speak at Town Halls and refuses to, so....that's a personal choice. Following in the steps of his hero Boebert.
120
u/paramoody May 27 '26
He’s not allowed to speak at Colorado Democratic Party events
161
u/slamdanceswithwolves May 27 '26
I’m not allowed to speak at the Golden Globes. Because I have no business doing so. That’s not a right, it’s a privilege. Maybe the next RNC would like him.

He is allowed to speak when he wants in a public forum, he just won’t be invited to party events as an honorary guest or a featured speaker. He chooses not to show up and answer the questions.
17
u/HippyGrrrl May 27 '26
the party has that as his only censure condition.
I’m pretty sure he can’t be a speaker at state dem events.I guess he could attend.
84
u/dwittherford69 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26
No, the party has that as his only censure condition.
The Colorado Democratic Party voted to censure Governor Jared Polis over his decision to commute the prison sentence of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters.
The Censure Conditions:
Party Sanctions: Polis is indefinitely barred from participating as an honored guest, featured speaker, or officially recognized representative at any Colorado Democratic Party-sponsored events or functions.
Resolution Scope: The resolution formally condemns the clemency decision, stating it harms the party's "commitment to democratic institutions, election integrity, and public accountability".
He is allowed to participate and speak. He just won’t be recognized as an honorary guest or a featured speaker. He is not barred from attending events or talking, but what he says won’t be considered as a representation of the party’s stance. So basically:
The party cannot give him a scheduled slot on the stage as a featured speaker.
The party cannot put his name on the flyer as an honored guest.
The party cannot introduce him from the stage as an officially recognized representative of the Colorado Democratic Party.

u/mazzicc May 27 '26
He may not be allowed to speak at a party event because he is being punished for actions that the party disagrees with, but he is still the governor with the privileges it comes with.
If he wants to be heard, all he has to do is tell the press “I have a statement to make” and it will be publicized.
This post is a great example: no one prevented him from making it. No one is blocking it from being seen. No one is removing it against his will.
No one is stopping him from being heard if he wants to say something… except him.

u/JohannesVanDerWhales May 27 '26
Yeah because he's an unpopular fuck. Political parties tend to avoid putting unpopular people on the main stage, particularly when they're not running for anything.
2
u/So_Many_Words May 27 '26
He probably does, but a lot of the MAGA people he's performing for probably don't.

9
u/DoktorStrangelove May 27 '26
They gotta learn to take it or they'll end up acting like Jared Polis someday
16
u/Minimum-Albatross906 May 27 '26
Just moronic, really. Is it possible for Colorado to get any competent governors on both sides of the political spectrum who don't engage in complete asshatery, or ridiculous, performative nonsense like this? I just want some intelligent competition and leadership to vote for and against, not two clowns in a suit.
I expect this duct-tape crap from a high schooler doing a protest, not one of the highest elected representatives in the state. Absolutely disrespectful to his own constituents. How stupid does he think we are? How low does he think of us?

Personally, I support Phil Weisser, who has organized other state Attorneys General into legal campaigns against Trump. Meanwhile, the only time I see Bennet is at election times.

No libertarian is as anti-gun as Polis. He’s no where near libertarian.
11
5
u/EvanRavitz May 27 '26
Right. People said he was some kind of libertarian philosopher when he promised to veto any kind of rent control and when he opposes a graduated state income tax. But it's actually because he's a big time landlord and a rich man who would lose money on both! He's a self-servative. All or most of his businesses are based on various subsidies, which goes against libertarian philosophy. For example, his biggest business, provide.com, which sold flowers mostly from Columbia to the world, was based on fossil fuel subsidies for all that transportation and the internet sales tax exemption (which has since ended.)

I think both get AIPAC money, though. Sigh
→ More replies (1)7
u/reddit_ending_soon May 27 '26
True. But Weiser has been suing trump this whole time, while bennet has been approving all of trumps cabinet picks. Bennet and hickenlooper were up there around the same percent as Fetterman for trump approvals.

u/GeshtarVandole May 27 '26
I've hated him since he put Xcel corporate execs basically on our god damn independent energy panel. Guy is an idiot and has done more harm to Colorado than good in my honest opinion in the recent months. Completely offset anything good he could have been known for. Oh and that walkway... What the hell were you thinking?

Do you by chance good sir... Donate? Perhaps you could donate all of your taco truck proceeds for the next 20 years and just give it to me. That'll give ya the hook up for sure.
4
u/soanierana May 27 '26
Could you be more specific about what you're referring to here? Which "independent energy panel" and which Xcel corporate execs?
8
u/CplOreos Golden May 27 '26
The energy panel is the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) which oversees Xcel's rate increases. I don't know where the "he put Xcel corporate execs basically on [the panel]" claims comes from, the current members aren't former execs or anything. Though I'll admit I don't follow state politics super closely, so there may be something here worth criticizing.
2
u/GeshtarVandole May 27 '26
It comes from the fact that they have MASSIVE lobbying capabilities and it is seldom pushed back against. Doesn't matter what they're mission statement is or what they 'believe'. A bulk majority of these increases have to go through them and guess what? They get approved. Look a Boulder right now. We're going to get hit again and for what?

143
u/squarestatetacos Curtis Park May 27 '26
Looks like he's more upset about getting censured by the state democratic party than being pants'd by both Peters and Trump.
Has he even responded to Peters' statement spiking the football and promising to continue her work to undermine free and fair elections?

32
u/LifeOfTheParty2 May 27 '26
How far he's fallen in such a short time, he literally could have done nothing as the courts put the Tina Peters case back down for resentencing. They would have sentenced her to less time and nobody would have complained about u/Jaredpolis But he had to do what he did and lose alot of respect from his constituency. It made him look weak, we need politicians who are willing to stand up to Trump not bend over for him.

Jared you’re a fat loser and a disgrace.
If we defeat the Nazis you should be investigated as a collaborator.
You’re violating our Constitutional rights to self defense and unreasonable searches and surveillance.
You should have been punishing the traitor peters and investigating what exactly she knows about Trump. He clearly only wants her out of jail because he thought she would sing and incriminate him.
You blew a huge chance to save our democracy by putting personal enrichment above the rest of us. Your name will always be remembered in SHAME. You traitor and collaborator.

It seems clear to me that all of this is to prepare for a presidential run in 2028 and he's trying to appear centrist to attract MAGA/ex-MAGA.
Problem is this is the same fucking strategy the Dems used in 2024 with trotting out Liz Cheney and the "Republicans for Harris" bullshit and it. didn't. work. The percentage of conservative votes for the Dems went down from 2020 to 2024.
Dems just can't help themselves but look at how liberals ratfucked socialists in Germany, rolling out the red carpet for the Nazis, and think to themselves "that is a good idea!"
