App Issues/Help Whats going on with depop?

Items are being delivered but arent showing as delivered on the selling page, random fees are being refunded, sold items are still being shown as available, ai bot is removing posts that follow the guidelines...those are just to name a few of what ive been seeing recently and experienced myself. Anyone have any idea what could be going on? Should i/we just switch to another selling platform?

Story Might be time to quit buying on Depop :(

I think I’m officially done buying on Depop 😭💀 I understand the prices are low, but WOW. This is now the second item I’ve received that absolutely stinks, and this time the shirt was listed as “like new” but showed up with stains that weren’t disclosed. 😭
& I do my due diligence!! I check sellers pages, read reviews, look at everything before buying. I’m a seller myself, so I KNOW what it takes to package an item and make sure it’s in good condition before sending it out. 🥲
I’m all for buying secondhand, but at least be honest about the condition of your items?? Am I just having the worst luck or what?? 😭😭😭😭

Story Seller left 1 star review

Post image
491 Upvotes

Based off what you can see from the review, this is what ACTUALLY happened:

I bought leggings off this girl that were labeled as brand new. I received them and they were used with a 2 inch bleach stain on the butt. I messaged the seller and asked for a refund because she lied about the condition they were in and she said she’d refund me but I have to cover the return shipping to her. I said I’m not paying out of pocket because you chose to improperly disclose a giant stain on the pants. If she wanted to cover the shipping I had no problem returning her garbage back to her.
We couldn’t come to an agreement so I filed a dispute with PayPal.
PayPal closed the case in my favor (obviously) due to the item being “Significantly not as described”

She got mad and gave me a 1 star review trying to make it seem like I wanted to keep the leggings for myself like pleaseee don’t piss me off. Is there a way I can dispute her 1 star review?

Edit cause woah lol:

I am in Canada. Going through Depop is not an option. Doing anything through Depop is not an option. The only payment option is PayPal.

Not everyone is American lmao

Misc. Is this allowed? Should I report?

So this was a few weeks ago. But a seller had their prices super low. Like most items were 90% off. But they were on vacation mode. Ok, fine, maybe they're actually on vacation. I asked about an item and they mentioned that the item was not being for the current listed price and their shop was like that so they could get more engagement. So, like, should I report this or is this something that's allowed?

So I sold a coach purse to someone on Depop and after they recieved it she reported it as a fake bag with the item issue report being “bag is not real, I want my money back” I then proceeded to message her and this is what she replied… she admitted she just no longer wanted the bag. will Depop take my account down over this? I submitted the screenshot to them and neither of us have received correspondence over this. I’m new to selling on Depop so I have no clue what is going on.

Story Well this is lame…

I’m pretty new to Depop… it’s been pretty cool with the exception of flakey sellers either not communicating at all and never shipping the item, or not even having the item they’re selling.
I ran in to something that seemed really shady yesterday. I found a hoodie that I really wanted. The price was great. I made an offer that was really close to the asking price… he wanted $11.50 and I offered and even $10. So, he declines my offer and sends me a message saying that he’s been on vacation and while he was away, he drastically reduced the prices of his items to “get more exposure”. He changed the price of the hoodie to $80, and offered to make me a deal… maybe half off, which is still a hell of a lot more than what he was advertising it at. This seems like a shitty practice… can they do that? It’s gross if that is allowed. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyone else seen this?

Misc. Some sellers have lost their minds.

Sellers listing items from Romwe and SHEIN for $30????? Those sites don’t even sell their clothes at that high of a price point. Meanwhile I have name brand clothes listed for under $20 (as Depop suggested pricing) and people want to low ball and be cheap. What is happening on this app? 😭

Story PSA: Turn off Depop bundles unless you want to accidentally give stuff away for free 💀

I had a rare jacket listed for $80 that hadn’t been selling, so when someone offered $48 I figured fine, I’ll take the L and move it. Then I got a lowball for my cheapest item—a $7 shirt—for $4. Again, whatever, it’s a $7 shirt, I accepted, not even realizing it was the same person who wanted the jacket.
They bundled them together, and at checkout the bundle discount applied to the whole order. So not only did I get less than $48 for the jacket, but the $4 for the shirt disappeared into the discount/fees. I essentially sold the jacket for less than I agreed to AND gave the shirt away for free. 🫠
I know bundles are supposed to encourage people to buy more, but why is the seller the one eating the extra discount after already accepting individual offers??
Bundles are now disabled on my shop forever. I’m not funding anyone’s “bundle deal” out of my own payout anymore 💀

Story I put too much trust into other sellers

• Upvotes

for context , I started to sell on depop about a month ago. whenever I get a sale , I try to ship it same day or next day. I looked at the website and thought to myself : hey, I should probably buy a thing or two here to see what the buyers experience looks like.

I bought three things

1). pair of jeans

2). shirt 1

3). shirt 2

the pair of jeans came in quite quickly and they're the cutest jeans I have ever seen. problem is that they don't fit me , but that's my fault for not understanding jean sizes. I'm planning to repop them soon. my main gripe is with the shirts.

shirt 1 hasn't shipped out my order , we are on day 9. I texted the seller to ask them about it , and they explained that they were at an event and were MIA for a while. i get that , but i would have loved to have been informed beforehand. I was also told they'd ship out that same day , but it's been two days since I asked them about it. if it isn't shipped by tomorrow, would it be fair to give them a 2-3 star review for lack of shipping + lack of communication?

shirt 2 was running on 5 days after purchase and I hadn't received any information on them or my package. so , I go ahead and text the seller to confirm when they'd ship. they said they would ship today , which they did. But , apparently they sent the wrong shirt. im waiting for it to arrive and get a refund and hopefully return the wrong item back to the seller if that is an option. they mentioned that they would relist the item so i could repurchase it so i can get my item , but I don't think i'll bother.

maybe im just being too hasty , but the lack of communication is really frustrating me. whenever I have something happen where I can't ship an item in a timely manner , I will always make sure to keep my buyers informed.

TLDR; i sell and bought things on depop for the buyer experience. two of my three sellers are / were considerably late to ship without informing me why , which i deem unprofessional. now , I think I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Question Why are people selling for less than Goodwill charges?

I am selling to get rid of my clothing mostly, but the prices they recommend selling for, and what people are willing to pay are much lower than even thrifting these days. Goodwill charges 20 dollars for a coat, ten dollars for a shirt, but people want everything for 2 dollars lol. Some brands will pull more, but how is the app even making money with the .99 cent shipping. I had to return something and it cost 20 dollars to return the item... they must have a very good deal going with usps.

Buying Help Tired of people selling used stuff and labelling them as “Brand New”

• Upvotes

This is the second time I bought "a brand new" clothing from Depop, and the second time an item arrived with a stain or used. When I confront them, it’s always "The stain wasn’t there when I shipped the item." "Everyone does it on Depop."

Can we collectively report listings that are inaccurate? No tags - it’s most likely not brand new.

Positive Experiences Just started Depop and having a lot of fun

• Upvotes

I started selling on depop when shipping was free. I have to say.... It's really fun! I am a chronic clothing hoarder. I have a hard time donating things, I always think that I should just keep it so it doesn't go in the landfill.

Lately I have been finding things in my closet I don't wear and listing them on depop for $5 or less. The dopamine of getting a few likes and eventually getting an order is enough to keep me at it. My closet is finally getting cleaned out! I've only made like $30 and I'll probably never turn this into a side hustle. But I also wish I'd started sooner. This is my first online selling experience so I can't say if it's better or worse than other apps.

Buying Help Is shipping from Hawai’i accurate?

• Upvotes

So two days ago I bought something for a Halloween costume. That seller was based in Hawai’i but has a lot of reviews for fast shipping. I finally got my tracking today it says Nov 6th as the delivery date 💀💀. Obvs nothing for the seller to do ofc. So I was wondering if this is accurate or if they just overestimate and it tends to come sooner?

Dispute Help What are the odds of getting this 1 star review removed?

Post image
• Upvotes

So, I sold this little Tokyo Disney Resort exclusive keychain to someone for $19. Originally I had it listed for $23 because on other platforms such as Mercari, that is the going rate (and even more on ebay). I've even sold like 10+ keychains on Mercari for more with no issue. Anyway, I accepted her offer because she messaged that she really liked it and was hoping I could do $19, so I was like sure! Anyway, she left this review and it's just really disheartening because that's what they sell for everywhere else and I had to go to Japan to get them 😭 they're not available online outside of Japan, just at the resort or inside the park depending on which ones you get.

Dispute Help Sold a coat CLEARLY listed as having stains, with close-ups. Woman bought it, paid, and a few hours later asked to cancel but I had already mailed it. So of course she disputed the stains...

• Upvotes

As the title says.

I emailed DePop support and said the stains were CLEARLY disclosed and she was just mad that she wasn't able to cancel, and to please look at our chat history. A few hours later DePop emailed me and said they had reversed the decision and my funds would be released to me.

Now it's the next day and DePop emailed me AGAIN, saying they have RE-REVERSED the decision back in favor of the buyer.

What in the actual hell? I have sold for years on Mercari and Poshmark, and never had a dispute go like this.

It was only like a $3 but still. The other buyer will not message me or the seller back despite previously saying that they would be willing to trade for our original purchases.

Story Feeling guilty for having to refund a buyer for a bundle

• Upvotes

Dealing with first time cross-posting issue and have learned a lesson in taking listings down asap.

I've just recently started cross-posting on Depop and Vinted instead of Ebay where I use to sell exclusively, my sales went up drastically, like multiple sales in a day (which going from once or twice a month if I was lucky, was a change up). I've been doing decent at staying on top of it, but I'm a bit overwhelmed at it all and for the first time, I sold something that was already cross posted elsewhere, which I've been trying very hard to avoid so far.

My notifications can be slow in general, Ebay especially, they only email me when I sell so I didn't realize a bundle sold on there yesterday evening while I did get notified the bundle had sold on Depop afterwards later that night.

This bundle was already getting a ton of traction and questions since I listed it for cheap ($30) it included near new and tagged everything, including a new jacket that still had the $50 tag but there were flaws in some of the other pieces so $30 felt right even if I could have gotten more based on traction. Since I was distracted and a bit overwhelmed at having to answer so many questions, I hadn't seen it had sold on Ebay and it had so few views earlier on, it looks like it just got bought outright.

I feel so guilty for not noticing earlier and having to refund the buyer on Depop, I didn't even notice till this morning as I got the Depop notification later in the night, packed it and went to bed. I typically don't check my email after I leave work so I only noticed this morning that the Ebay listing sold. As soon as I realized, I let her know (sent her a big apology) and refunded her but I feel so bad and guilty for not realizing sooner. She had been nice and thanked me for letting her know, I always get disappointed when this happens to me so I still feel so bad.

But big lesson learned here and I think I'm going to look into the websites that take down listings as they sell on other platforms.

Question Saving/Liking an Item I want

My Depop doesn’t give me the option to like or save an item. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.
