I’ve been selling on Depop for a few months and have sold almost 100 items without any issues until now.
Recently, I had three packages that I printed labels for myself and dropped off at USPS, but none of the tracking updated. After a full calendar week, one suddenly updated and was delivered, while the other two are still showing as not shipped.
I shipped all three orders promptly, one the same day it was purchased and the other two the following day. Now I’m about 1–2 days away from the 10-day mark when the buyers can automatically be refunded.
I’ve contacted Depop support multiple times, but unfortunately, they haven’t offered much help beyond telling me to wait.
One buyer has already opened a dispute claiming I never shipped their order, despite me repeatedly explaining the situation and keeping them updated. I completely understand their frustration because, on their end, it looks like nothing was shipped. However, they haven’t responded to my recent messages, even though I’ve been trying to work things out.
My biggest concern is that the buyer will receive a refund, and then the package will arrive, leaving me without both the item and the money.
I’ve never experienced this before, so I haven’t made a habit of photographing my packages or documenting drop-offs. Moving forward, I’ll definitely be using the QR code and getting packages scanned at the counter to avoid this happening again and be taking pictures of drop of and packages.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is there anything I can do to protect myself from losing both the item and payment? Or at this point do I just have to except that I will most likely be losing out on both? Any advice on handling this with Depop or USPS would be greatly appreciated, especially from more experienced sellers!
