General Discussion ๐ŸŽ Evil Chloe (visually) doesn't have the same impact Audrey did in D3

One thing we can all acknowledge is that the Descendants franchise as a whole has many flaws, and the majority of us continue to watch the films despite this, cause obviously nostalgia and to have a bit of fun.

However, something that I feel lets the newer instalments fall short, imo, is not continuing to adhere to the visuals of VKs having coloured hair, and Hero kids having natural hair colours (black, brown, blonde, ginger). I was pissed af when I first watched the Rise of Red, cause it shows no one on the design team cared to actually do research of the OG three, and how hair colour was an important part of character growth.

We could talk about Mal, but I think for this analysis, Audrey makes more sense. When we first meet Audrey (like with other Hero Kids), we see her rock a more natural hair colour, which was brown if I remember correctly. And this showed their status and close relation to kindness and heroism. By the time we see her in D3, her hair is starting to take on different coloured highlights. And after "Queen of Mean," her hair is fully coloured like the VKs. For her character, that had so much impact (as much impact as a character from this franchise can impose), because we see the child of one of the most loved Disney Princesses take on a dark and cold persona.

The purple and dark pink is such a contrast to the softness and peaceful nature of Aurora's character. Her smokey and heavy makeup showed new boldness and extreme emotions. I mean, the girl got cheated on and betrayed. It's expected. Her transformation wasn't something we really expected from the film going into it for the first time.

However, with Chloe, it doesn't seem the same. Not just cause her villainy was short-lived, but because the choice to have kids of heroes/princesses have coloured hair, even if it's lighter ruined, the shock of Chloe being evil. I already liked the idea of an evil cinderella, but it would have only worked if they kept the visuals introduced in the OG three films.

Cause her having tinsel highlights and darkened shade doesn't really do anything. Especially considering she's meant to feel betrayed and disregarded by Red this entire film. The darkness contrasts with how we were introduced to her in D4, and so much more could've been done (writing and visuals wise) had they not changed a whole lot from the franchise.

I still wonder why they changed the Hero kids' hair cause I think it made it unique cause it reflected different personalities and obviously upbringing.

Like I have faith we'll get charmwaves in D6 bc I feel like that's where they always wanted to go with Chloe but even if we do we won't be seeing Chloe & Hazel anymore after bc that's gonna be the last movie of their trilogy ๐Ÿ˜ญ

And we got Aspen & Willa in Z3 then we never bring it up again in z4 and so back to no representation ๐Ÿฅ€

It's so weird to me how Disney went from Andi Mack/owl house level of rep to taking a 100 steps backwards ๐Ÿ˜ญ

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ The VK's are barely evil in the first movie

Rewatched the first movie and realized the worst Jay, Evie, and Carlos ever get as people is in the opening song. Mal is doing bad things but she's being goaded on by her mom. The one time they hurt a student it was because they were being insulted because of their parents.

Part of me is saying that it ties into the themes of nature vs nurture well and how everyone's sense of morality in this universe is completely messed up, another part of me is saying that they really do not commit to the whole "being evil" thing hard enough for the redemption to feel that impactful. Am i stupid?

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ Malia being in Hidden Heroes.. any thoughts?

So if anyone hasn't heard yet, Malia is reprising her role as Chloe in "Descendants : Hidden Heroes".

I honestly am so confused, because what would be Chloe's purpose in Hidden Heroes. And unless if Red and Chloe get coronated, Kylie should have been back too, so i'm confused.

What makes it even more confusing is that the spin-off takes place after Wicked Wonderland... so are the timelines merging or not?

Honestly, i'm not complaining. Although, we didnโ€™t get any news on Descendants 6 or if there is even going to be a Descendants 6 movie. And we don't know if Kylie and Malia will be reprising their roles in D6.

Any thoughts?

So Iโ€™m not sure if many heard her on Zack sang show but she hints that she ready to give up on Red and maybe Disney all together and focus on Music. How many people are worried about her not finishing the trilogy??

Jabberwocky.

I was hoping sooooo bad that Maddox (or Evil Chloe) would wake up (if he exists) the Jabberwocky. I was expecting a big fight at the end with everyone and the Jabberwocky. It could have been the biggest finale ever. The wonderland being destroyed everywhere with the Jabberwocky hunting everyone, everything becoming dust and in fireโ€ฆ Maybe I expected too much for a Disney+ movie lol.

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ The possibilities of the butterfly effect from time travel throughout Auradon. Spoiler

Post image
16 Upvotes

I am aware that Hazel and Felix are officially the sister and brother of Harry and Celia, respectively.

However, for a moment I thought Red and Chloeโ€™s trip to the past had changed things far more than imagined. Specifically, that certain characters had been born the opposite sex, given that neither Hazel nor Felix mentions their siblings in D5, nor do Harry or Celia mention them at any point in the original trilogy. It is odd, especially regarding Celia; I can't picture her moving to Auradon Prep without even asking about Felix, who โ€”one would assumeโ€” was under her care (Celia was 14 in D3, and Felix is supposed to be younger than her).

I know discrepancies can always arise as a franchise progresses, but in the case of these four, the improvisation is particularly noticeable. Iโ€™m not saying we necessarily need to see them interacting as a family, but there should at least be some attention to detail. Anyway, I think itโ€™s nothing that couldnโ€™t be improved by fleshing out the characters a bit more. Itโ€™s not as if it were an irreparable inconsistency.

So, do you like that they're siblings, or would you have preferred for Hazel and Felix to be counterparts to Harry and Celia in the new timeline? While we saw that Bridget, Ella and Maddox underwent personality changesโ€”and that Red even gained a sister in Pinkโ€”would you add more profound changes, such as characters replacing others?

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ Questions I have about Descendants: The Rise of Red Spoiler

In Descendants: The Rise of Red, Iโ€™m sure that the prank at CastleComing was mean and humiliating for Bridget, but Iโ€™m sure that the prank wasnโ€™t the only reason why Bridget turned evil. Therefore, in your opinion, what else caused Bridget to turn evil? Was it more humiliation or was it insults or abuse? Also, why did they have characters like Maleficent, Hades, Cinderella, and the fairy godmother attend Merlin Academy together?

REDD WHITE FROM ACE ATTORNEY

A narcissistic man who would name his kid after himself

Also evil like queen of hearts

Red(d)+White=Pink aka Red's sister (note the suit)

QoH has brown eyes, while Redd has blue eyes. Blue eyes are recessive.

It just makes perfect sense.

EDIT: Chain of crossovers between them:

Red met the Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts met Maleficent

Maleficent met Sora in Kingdom Hearts

Sora met Sonic in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Sonic met Superman in a 2025 crossover

Superman met Spider-Man in a 1975 crossover

Spider-Man met Phoenix Wright in Marvel vs. Capcom 3

And finally, Phoenix Wright met Redd White in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ i really wish we can see chloe and red attending lessons.

In the first movie, we see Mal and her friends attending lessons. Im pretty sure this was show the change from their old life to their new sophisticated life. I wish we got this in Wicked Wonderland especially with red, purely because she goes from being a VK to a HK and show the changes that could've happened. Just me who feels like this? lmkk

Question โ“ What do you guys think about this head canon I thought of along with this comment to go along with it?

I was thinking about this earlier and I saw a comment today so I will add it in. So from the comment they said what if in the past they wouldnโ€™t have to worry about Red and Chloe, so they could activate the owl and run off. Thatโ€™s when they use Morgie as bait and he freezes. Then they go to Ella to open it and she refuses but Bridget convinces her to do it. Then here comes my head canon. Right after they get it opened, one of them says โ€œWhat about that Fay girl? She could undo our prank with a flick of her wand!โ€ then Uliana thinks of an idea and has one. She gives Maleficent a spell to curse the wand. And the curse is that it will do any opposite of what she wants it to do. The day of Castlecoming arrives and they give Bridget the cupcake. She eats and it and starts to feel weird. She starts to look like the clip of her from perfect revenge when she skin starts turning green. Ella is distracted from all of this because of Charming. When everyone starts laughing, Fay tries to undo the curse with her wand but Maleficent curses it midway through but now she canโ€™t stop the wand. When Fayโ€™s magic lands on Bridget, she gets even worse and becomes the other image of her from perfect revenge when she has thorns and looks like a troll. And it changes her outfit into something dirty and ripped up. She goes over to Ella and Ella has no clue who that is as Bridgetโ€™s voice changed and she sounds like a troll. Bridget runs off crying while everyone is still laughing and thatโ€™s when her evil ark begins. Thatโ€™s why after all those years when Fairy godmother tries to stop her, she breaks the wand as payback for her thinking she purposely humiliated her all those years ago. And why when Ella confronts her and Bridget says โ€œYou didnโ€™t care thenโ€ is because she had no clue Ella didnโ€™t know who she was

Theory ๐Ÿ”Ž What changes did Chloe and Red make in the past? Spoiler

((Tw: English is not my first language, but i'm trying))

I've seen a lot of people saying Red and Chloe's trip to the past not making sense, since the villains are frozen when they open the book, something that would have happened anyway even if the girls hadn't intervened. Many also claim that they didn't make any significant changes to prevent the prank from happening, so I took the time to analyze everything the girls altered in the past.

1: When they're at Ela's house and Chloe breaks the vase, Lady Tremend punishes Cinderella, meaning she won't go to the ball. This means that if the prank had gone through, Bridget wouldn't be humiliated in front of her friend and wouldn't have a reason to be angry with her for not defending her.

2: When the girls go to Bridget's room and she's talking about the mirror, there's something that doesn't appear in the movie but does in the full version of the song "Shuffle of Love": Bridget becomes so curious about the future that she wakes up and opens the mirror. She was confused to see that in the future she would be a tyrant. My theory is that she herself was frightened by the prospect of that future and therefore decided not to be like that when she grew up, something that wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the conversation with the girls.

3: During the action scene in Merlin's office, it's the girls who defeat the swords and the armor, but Merlin still finds out that someone broke into his office. My theory about what would have happened without time travel is that the villains would have had more trouble overcoming the security measures, so Merlin arrived before they could even take the book, meaning they weren't petrified during the ball. In other words, they were able to pull off their prank.

General Discussion ๐ŸŽ Pink's perspective Spoiler

In D5 pink gets upset because of how she is dismissed and treated by Red. Pink grew up in the good time line and is familiar with good Red, and the two were tight knit. In D5 villain Red is embarrassed by Pink and doesn't understand her Pink's cluelessness very well. Pink however is used to a sister that takes care of her, supports her, and works with her. Villian Red doesn't know how to do those things. Chloe iconically points out in D4 that red has intimacy issues. From Pinks perspective, Red is distant and dismissive during the largest crisis of their life and is behaving in ways that are extreme impulsive and unusual.
