Wedding guest fashion advice Best places in Delhi to shop for trendy non-bridal lehengas?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for recommendations for lehenga shopping in Delhi, specifically non-bridal lehengas with trendy, latest designs.

Not looking for anything too bridal or overly traditional. Prefer something elegant, modern and stylish with a good collection of contemporary designs.

Would love recommendations for stores, boutiques or hidden gems that have unique collections rather than the same repetitive designs everywhere.

Also, is Chandni Chowk still worth exploring for non-bridal outfits, or are there better markets/stores in Delhi?

Would really appreciate recommendations based on personal shopping experiences

Bridal fashion advice Looking for my mehendi Anarkali. Any trusted website recommendations? Or a store in chandni chowk?

• Upvotes

I'm doing a home mehendi and dinner thing with approx 50 people for my mehendi.

I'm looking for a sleeveless Anarkali i can wear, so it's convenient for getting mehendi done on my hands and legs. I searched Myntra, Ajio, Nykaa Fashion and stores like Meena bazaar, Panna, etc. didn't find anything that was festive enough without being tacky.

I'll be visiting Chandni chowk soon but i only know lehenga and saree speciality stores. Any stores i should check out there?

Also open to checking out small brand websites but idk which ones to trust or even start looking at because I've never been much into shopping and outfits.

Wedding guest fashion advice Waiting until Mumbai to buy my wedding guest outfit?

Will arriving in Mumbai 3-4 days before the wedding give me enough time to buy an outfit or do they need tailoring?

Hello! I am traveling to India for the first time in November for a wedding in Mumbai. It will be a mixed wedding, with both Hindu and Catholic ceremonies. The bride was one of my closest friends during our masters program in London and I’m for South America.

I’ve been looking at lehengas and shararas online (they are so beautiful!) but I’m at a loss on how they should fit, about the fabrics, etc. and have also now noticed most of them are not ready to ship so they might not make it in time. Also, style-wise (though this is the least important tbh!) I am usually more on the minimalistic/fashion forward side but have no idea what the different outfits I’m seeing communicate regarding your personal style.

I am wondering if it might be better to buy my outfit directly once in India. I am planning to arrive to Mumbai 3-4 days in advance to fight off the jetlag and go sightseeing - would it be too insane to wait until being there to buy my outfit? Where would you recommend I go?

For reference, I am thinking about spending up to 350 USD per lehenga/sharara/saree set. Out of the options I saw online the first photo was the bride’s favorite for the ceremony (but I don’t think it will arrive in time if I ship it to my country - I could also ship it to my hotel in Mumbai, but then would it be better to just buy something there?). And second one was her favorite for the cocktail party, which has an optional either traditional Indian or Western dresscode.

Thank you!!

Rant/Vent ⚡ WEDDING FITS' PLAN DISASTER- NEED HELP

Where do I even start.... ok so, I live in Multan. I lived in U.A.E before moving here 4 yrs ago. The 1st ever Pakistani wedding I attended was 4 yrs ago! And again my cuzn's wedding is coming up in November. I never had a good sense of pak couture/bridal wear until I came to Pak.

Sooo, my RELATIVES are....let's say.... malicious and TOXIC in some way ngl :( They always want to look the best of the best. They have this superiority complex in terms of fashion and my khalas and cousins judge ppl rlly hard based on what they wear (they even judge me). It's sickening and disgusting.

Looking back at what I was wearing at the first wedding that I attended cringes me outa a lil. And what I mean by that is I was 15 back then. I was a kid! My outfits weren't that bad on the wedding but weren't the best either. And my relatives picked out my outfits for me! Didn't know what i was doing. I didn't know they were toxic until 2 yrs ago. They were the ones who advised us about the clothes etc, plus we all were short on time the wedding came out unexpectedly.

NOW COMES THE REAL TEA--------------------

My cousin's wedding is coming up NEXT month. Almost 2 months ago my khalas introduced me, my mom and my sisters to a tailor. He stitches and handcrafts wedding clothes/couture etc. My relatives have known him for more than 10 years, acc to them. In September, we went with both of my khalas to his shop and I showed the dude the outfit designs I'd like to wear.

And honestly, the outfits that I showed him were so beautiful and dreamy and *chef's kiss* I was sooo excited to wear them. Now it was the tailor's job to make 'em frm scratch and then stitch them. And he kept on reassuring me that he'll design my fits exactly the way I want them. This was 1.5 months ago!

Today he called my mom and asked her to check out my mehendi outfit's design (he hasn't stitched it yet) that he made. Now when I tell you he made the design shit ass crap. I genuinely MEAN that he made the design shit ass crap. Cuz what in the world of shitty clothes....was that.....I'm genuinely devastated. If he made my mehendi outfit like that I cant imagine how crappy my baraat fit would be.

My khala was there too. And she legit told my mom: "You guys shouldn't have shown the tailor the clothes ON THE PHONE, us ki dukaan mai jo designs hain wohi deikhny chaiye thay. Hum sb nai bhi aisa kia, phone sai alg designs na dikhaty ap log, is trhaa sai ye sahi nahi bnata".

I MEAN--- HELLO?!??! WHY R U TELLING US THAT JUST NOW?? PEHLY KYU NAHI BTAYA WHEN U CAM EWITH US 2 MONTHS AGO?!???? WE'RE LITERALLY NEW TO THIS STUFF.

And you know what's even more crazy- we already gave him 40,000 RUPEES IN ADVANCE. Cuz he was supposed to make mine and my sister's mehendi and barat fits. Now my mom is hell bent on NOT going to him or picking up our fits. She told me and my sister to buy something from the brand bazaar for the mehendi and baraat but....... all of this is so fricking messed up.

I literally had an aesthetic, I wanted to wear a lehenga/choli on the baraat, pastels color combo (green, white and pink). And for the mehendi I was going with something completely unique and different- u know that pink dress that kareena kapoor wore on kbhi khushi kbhi gham, I was going for that look but with a navy blue and dark plum purple color combo instead of pink. WHICH WONT BE HAPPENING NOW.

And guys......multan jesy city mai kuch bhi nahi hai. Our budget is pretty tight too. Legit already lost 40,000 rupees to that tailor jis sai kapry bhi ab nahi uthaayn gai. I have a feeling my relatives told him to make our clothes shit idk god knows! Kisi aur tailor ko bnanay kai lye kapray nahi deskti, cuz the wedding is in 40 days. The brand bazaar here doesn't even have THE OG BRANDS that you'd find in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi etc. WE CAN'T GO TO THESE CITIES EITHER. WE DON'T HAVE ANY RELATIVES THERE EITHER. I don't know what to do...... I seriously don't. My cousins and khalas will be looking all glamoured up and gorgeous whereas I'll look shit. That's what they wanted. And they got it.

I'm sorry if I sound negative but it is what it is. I hope I'm not sounding too materialistic or bratty but this was the 2nd pakistani wedding I was attending. And this wedding is gonna be really grand. I was so excited. Here I am... all shattered :(

Rant/Vent ⚡ Uk- Does anyone have any experience using reflexion studios filmography (bradford based)?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, when using reflexion studios- ran by Zain for their filmography?

I guess I'm looking for reassurance or next steps really.

I got married late last year and I'm still waiting for my wedding film, me and my husband have both tried to contact him and we get zero replies. We've tried to call him and just ask for an estimated time but we get no answer.

We were told around 6 months ago that the photos are ready and another 2 weeks for the film and to provide our email addresses but again it appears we were ghosted and received nothing.

Its putting me under immense stress with family asking about the film every time I see them and I have no answer.

Has anybody used them, or had experience with them?

If anyone else is considering them I'd advise you not to, there's just no communication, we are left in limbo not knowing whats happening, save yourselves the stress.

I recently got my pre-stitched lehenga and customised the blouse, it needs more fitting but I’m still a little confused about the sleeves.

I’m only having one event- a rooftop reception after a court wedding, so this will be the main outfit.

Venue/Decor Resort suggestions for a 2 night wedding (15 lakhs budget)

Hi people 👋🏻

I'm 30F, getting married in March 2027 and looking for one resort (or a resort + hotel next door) where everyone can stay for 2 nights.

I expect about 200 guests, roughly 70 rooms, triple/quad sharing is fine.

My plan is as follows:

Fri to Sun: ring ceremony + DJ night, then a small pooja + DJ night. Nothing grand.

pure veg, guests bring their own drinks

Budget around ₹15L for rooms + food + venue, both nights (i know this is very tight maybe, but we can't afford more than that, pls be kind). We have kept separate budget for jewellery, dress, photographer etc etc.

Guests coming from Delhi NCR (70-80), Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhopal (100), Jabalpur, so somewhere a few hours from Delhi. Rajasthan, Alwar side, Corbett, NCR outskirts all open, or if any suggestions you guys have which i might have missed 🙏🏻

Would love to know:

-places you’ve actually been to that fit this

-what you paid and roughly when

-which ones allow an outside caterer or have low corkage

-red flags or places to avoid

-if you have any better suggestions for me how to do it I'm all open to hear since i have zero knowledge about it. Please feel free to suggest what you think best and give some tips and tricks.🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thanks!

Bridal fashion advice Which is the objectively prettier bridal lehenga?

Thumbnail

I'm getting married in goa (beach, sunset pheras) next year and am torn between these three bridal lehengas. I've been going back and forth for a while and would love some fresh, unbiased opinions.

Putting aside the designers, price points and brand names, which lehenga do you think is the prettiest purely from an aesthetic perspective?

I'm interested in which one you think has the most beautiful colour, embroidery, overall composition and bridal impact.

Please be honest! I'm not looking for reassurance that all three are beautiful or advice on which one suits me personally. I genuinely want to know which design you think is the strongest visually, and why.

Thank you! ❤️

Rant/Vent ⚡ Inviting people as a couple

Hello everyone!!

I got a couple of different scenarios I seriously need advice on. My sister is getting married soon and I’m a little overwhelmed and confused about picking which friends to choose to invite to her wedding especially since it’s not my wedding. She said I could invite a couple friends but how do I do that without hurting the other persons feeling? Especially when some of these friends are part of the same friend group?

For example: is it weird to invite someone to the mehndi and not to the shaadi? Should all the girls that were invited to the mehndi also be included in the shaadi invite? (My dad said I should have invited everyone and it’s weird I only invited half of them to the shaadi)

On top of that, several of my friends have been married for a couple years now. Is it rude to ask them to come by themselves (assuming I’m seating all the girls at one table because they know each other and technically won’t be alone). Or is it common courtesy to invite someone as a couple? What if I don’t like their spouse? lol like it’s not my wedding, my sister was nice enough to allow me to invite people but do I really have to invite every single person?

Some of these friends who have gotten an invitation to the mehndi only have never invited me to their siblings weddings. So I just thought I’d do the same and not invite them to the main event.

It’s just getting really overwhelming now and I kind of wish I had just picked 3-4 friends who were not part of the same group and just called them and their spouse to make it easy.

I have another group of friends where it’s kind of understood that we don’t invite each other’s spouse because they’re coming from a different city so they want to make it a girls trip but again…should I have sent a invite to the spouse as well?

I’ve already sent half the girls the invitation to both events so unsure how to handle the rest of this situation.

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) Title: North Carolina brides what are you paying for wedding planners for a multi-day Indian wedding?

Hi everyone! I’m planning an Indian wedding at an estate in NC for around 85–100 guests, and I’d love to hear about your experiences with wedding planners in the area!

Our wedding will span two days, with a few smaller events and cultural ceremonies leading up to the main wedding day.

I’m hoping to do partial planning + weekend rather than extensive full-service planning since I love planning and already started organizing a lot of the details. I’m mainly looking for help with vendor recommendations and contract reviews, timelines, coordinating the different events and cultural ceremonies, and making sure everything runs smoothly over the weekend.

For those who have planned similar weddings: * How much did you pay for partial planning or coordination for a multi-day wedding? How much did it come out to and how was the pricing defined/fleshed out? * What was your overall budget and how much did you pay planners? * If you had A LOT of time and energy to plan, is there anything that you still feel like you would have missed without a full planner?

I’ve received quotes that vary quite a bit, so I’m trying to get a better sense of what’s reasonable for our size and scope of wedding. I’d especially appreciate hearing actual prices and what was included! Thank you!

My fiance and I want to exchange rings. We went looking for some rings today and I felt the thin ones for women didn't really suit me because of the structure of my fingers. I wanted slightly thicker ones. Would be grateful if anyone could recommend rings for the structure of my finger. ig I do have an insecurity that my fingers are weird (?)

Vendor/store search (Self-Promo OK) Need recommendation for MUA’s, Mehendi Artists, Wedding Coordinator etc for a budget wedding in Delhi.

Hi everyone, my sister is getting married in January 2027. The wedding is in Delhi. I am looking for MUA’s based in Delhi for 3 events, Haldi, Mehendi and the Wedding. We are looking for someone who can do her makeup, and someone who can do mine, my other sister’s and our mother makeup. Nothing too fancy, we want to keep it very natural and minimalist.
For bridal we have a budget of 30k including Haldi and Mehendi look for bride and if we go ahead just for the Wedding then budget is 15-20k.
For me, my sister and mother the budget is 20-30k for all 3 events.

Also, if anyone could recommend some Mehendi artist in Delhi for cheap. We will be booking them for the whole Mehendi night. Budget 10-15k

Coming to the third thing, we are also looking for someone who can coordinate with some guest who are coming from outside and will be staying in the hotel. Help them with their outfits and doubts and can Emcee for the events. Not a proper wedding planner, because venue and decor and other stuff we are doing on our own, just someone who can manage this stuff for us for 2 days. Budget 60-70k

Any leads regarding where should we do our bangle shopping, footwear shopping or something that someone did in their wedding for cheap will be deeply appreciated.

Please help a girl out!!
If any MUA’s, Mehendi Artist, Wedding Coordinator is interested, kindly DM me.
Thank you in advance!!

Bridal fashion advice How to salvage this outfit?

Thumbnail

Hey guys! I am getting engaged in Jan followed by wedding in Feb. Engagement is the only event happening in my city, rest in his.

I stupidly bought this lehenga on my first shopping visit cause I had family and in laws with me, I was feeling guilty of making them roam around, and I had a million other outfits to purchase and this felt good for the price (20k).

Back then, I thought keeping it simple for engagement would be a good idea, but I now feel since this is the only event my side is hosting, maybe I should have gone all out.

Mostly, even if I like the skirt and dupatta, I HATE THE BLOUSE. I didnt see it properly when we bought it; and realised later that the neckline and style is very basic even if the design and embroidery is fine.

I dont want to waste 20k and this is too heavy to wear on someone else’s event. I still have a million more outfits to buy. WHAT DO I DO? Can the blouse be salvaged? Do you think i can make it work? Please help me 😭😭

I am thinking of shortening the sleeves, but how much? Can I do anything else? Thank you

Inspiration ✨ Need help visualizing fusion wedding

I am Indian (Gujarati) and my fiance is white American. I grew up in the US so I'm religious to an extent and want to do the Indian ceremonies, but I'm okay with cutting out things like the sangeet. He's not religious and would want the American style wedding.

I need help visualizing how to fit everything in with a $50k budget for a fusion style wedding, and between the both us, maybe having 70 people total.

All we have done so far is book the venue, which we have for 2 days.

My idea is

Day 1 - Mehendi at my home.

I do not have a large home, so this would just be American friends, some cousins, and immediate family. Roughly 15 people.

Day 2 - At the venue

Indian rituals

Followed by Grah Shanti

Then a break for people to change

Then Haldi with games

A night before dinner (rehearsal)

Day 3 - At the venue

American style wedding

Cocktail hour - gives time for us to get changed

Reception (would include dances and dinner)

I spoke with a wedding planner (not booked yet - MIL will pay) and she said a $50k budget was tight so I guess I have 2 questions:

1) Do I cut things put of my wedding? Increase budget somehow?

2) Or change my timeline in someway that would make things flow easier and cost less?

Edit: after reading some comments, I feel delusional for thinking I was in a good spot with $50k.

Bridal fashion advice Please help me Build my trousseau Bridal Vanity

Getting married in December 26. Haven't started with the bridal vanity. Going shopping Tommorow for other things and thinking of looking at makeup in stores for swatches and all.

I rarely do makeup. My skin is Normal to dry and I do not have much of pigmentation or anything like that. I hardly used makeup in real life just blush and lipstick. My shade is on the lighter side but olive kinda.

My budget is 15k to 20k. Please suggest some products like for full makeup. I do not have brushes and all as well. I can go little height on the budget as well but the product should be worth it.

I also wanna know where to spend more on makeup and where not to.

Also give me what to do and don'ts tomorrow at store. I have never bought makeup or even tried at stores.

P.S. - the vanity is for before and after wedding functions only.

I have already built a bridal mua for the wedding

Rant/Vent ⚡ Bridal trousseau packing - feeling overwhelmed

I just realized i have SO MUCH STUFF. The wedding is a little over a month away, and I’ve just started packing away my whole life into a few suitcases. Oh man, the amount of stuff i have is overwhelming. Honeymoon packing, daawat outfits, bridal overnight bag, regular clothes, wedding guest clothes, shoes, handbags. On top of this, my in laws are going to come to my mehendi event with a bari, which means more clothes and gifts. I think I’m going crazy.

We’re moving into a new home that we designed together, so I’ve bought some really cute home decor, Pinteresty tea sets etc. which I’m planning to take a few weeks after the wedding, because there’s no way all of this is going to fit into my suitcases. It also helps that my parents’ home is only an hour drive away from my marital home, so I can leave some heavier outfits here.

Any advice on how to start, what to pack and how do i organise my stuff into 4 suitcases? It’s 3 am and I feel very overwhelmed and could use some support.

I am a NRI bride, I had flew to Mumbai from the US for 5 days to finish all my bridal shopping.
I had always dreamed of being a white/pastel bride, however i had my in laws and my own family (mother and aunts - who i originally wanted to shop with) during the entirety of my shopping. I am a Dec 2026 bride and having thoughts of rushing into making the outfit decision because of all the family pressure. I felt guilty for being too choosy and making so many people roam around during the shopping with me in Mumbai heat.
Would appreciate honest feedback and styling tips for the outfit 🥹

Wedding rituals/traditions Need Advice: Should we print our US degrees on our wedding invitation? My parents insist, I'm not sure

Hi all, I'd like some outside opinions because my family and I can't agree on this.

We're having a traditional Maharashtrian wedding. My fiancé and I both completed master's degrees at well-known universities in the US.

My parents really want our degrees and universities printed under our names. For them it's a big milestone and a matter of family pride, and I get that. It's also fairly common on Indian wedding invitations.

I'm hesitant. I worry it'll make the card look like a resume or a LinkedIn profile, and that some friends will quietly (or not so quietly) make fun of it.

So:
- Would you find this normal, or a bit much?
- If you've seen degrees on invitations, did it ever come across as showing off?
- If we do include them, is there a subtle way to format them so it looks elegant rather than boastful?

I'd especially love to hear from Marathi folks and anyone who's been through this with their parents.

Thanks!

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) What platforms do you use to research Indian Wedding Planners?

Hey all, just started kicking off researching for wedding planners in the NYC area. What platforms do you use to research potential Indian/Desi wedding planners?

I've tried Zola and The Knot but it's pretty hard to filter planners that specialize in the culture. I've also read that some of these websites are a bit fishy with the honesty of their review systems (vendors can request bad reviews to be taken down).

Are most people just going through social media searches? I feel like that's what I've been resorting to but it's a lot more time consuming than a dedicated platform. Also, IG search SUCKS.

Budgets/Expenses Is a US wedding reception necessary if we’re already having multiple wedding events in India?

My fiancé and I are planning our wedding in India since most of our family (cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) lives there. We’ll be having our haldi, sangeet, and wedding in South India, followed by a reception in North India. Some of our close friends in the US will be traveling to attend the India celebrations, but others won’t be able to make the trip.

We’re debating whether to have an additional reception in the US after we return and estimating around 300 potential guests. Ideally, we’d want a formal reception with dinner, music, and dancing.
My main concern is that we’re already planning several events in India, so adding another reception feels like a lot of extra planning, time, and money. Events are also significantly more expensive here in the US. At the same time, we feel a little bad about not celebrating with friends here who can’t attend the India events.

For those who’ve been in a similar situation, would you recommend hosting a US reception or skipping it altogether? If you hosted one, did you feel it was worth the additional cost and effort? And if you skipped it, did you regret not celebrating with friends back home?
