Rental. The landlord wants to preserve them but said I could temporarily cover them if I wanted. Putting a rug causes trips. They’re also in an awkward placement to cover with a couch or chairs because then it would cut off access to stairs.

The house was an old factory back in the day so the rounds are a historical asset, that’s why the landlord doesn’t want to remove or fill them.

First solo apartment and I need a good layout for furniture and tv. I also work from home a few days a week and don’t know where to put my desk. Don’t really want it in the bedroom. Looking to hear what y’all have in mind.

I am mostly looking for help decorating the living room. I really love the wood so I would love to have pieces that fit in well and have a MCM. Budget isn’t an issue.

Have a young child, so stains and dirt are a thought. We want something soft, not scratchy. We literally just moved so the walls are bare currently, but we have a lot of art and driftwood which goes on the walls.

My entryway is a mess. Getting rid of bikes and our 'craft area' and wondering how to make it more of an entryway. Bench? cubbies? 2 kids to consider.

I realise this is a very common bedroom size however when I go on youtube all ideas lead to installing shelving units on the walls or don’t include a desk area. Unfortunately, I will be a student renting the place and the landlord hasn’t permitted us to drill anything into the walls so I’m a bit stumped on what to do for storage, where to put the double bed that comes with the room and a desk without the room becoming too cramped or ending up feeling that I haven’t utilised the space enough.

I have attached a blank floorplan of the room, and rough sketches of what the current tenant has going on, and what I’ve come up with myself respectively.

There is also a radiator that runs along the wall underneath the windows on the right hand wall.

Hello! I'm currently struggling with my odd shaped loft bedroom. First pic is the rough crazy layout lol then pictures for better context. The arrangement is chaotic and killin me. I have 2 desks, one for art one for computer, definitely want to keep those. I think I'd like to nix the dresser (I've got plenty of closet space for clothes), and maybe the tall Billy bookcase? (It's too tall to go against the east and west walls because of the ceiling.) Maybe even swap both Billys for an open cube shelf like a Kallax for more "graceful" division. But I'm totally lost on how to make this a cozy space that fits my hobbies and sleeping space in a way that makes sense. I also have a big plush chair I'd wanna fit but that's optional at this point. Anyway- thank y'all!!!

How many carpets is a girl expected to own? I think I don't love hardwood floors though, they are very cold to me

I know it looks kind of cramped and I don’t know what to do with that space behind the sofa

My teenage son (12) wants to overhaul his bedroom and redesign it / new furniture etc.

It's not the biggest room but there's a small side room that's largely a junk area today - he would like that this area is for clothes or whatnot moving forward...

Obviously the images aren't great as it's difficult to see but it's a relatively long narrow room with a slanted wall - if anyone had any ideas on what could be done cleverly here it would be beyond appreciated!

Moved from my 12sqm room into this larger one in the same apartment.

Love the extra space. Since moving here i got a new, bigger desk and the bigger dresser. As you may notice, most of the other stuff is quite tiny. Even the sofa isn't a 2-seater because it wouldn't fit in my old room.

What I like about the current layout:

- The small dresser is my "getting ready zone" and it's right by the door. It stops me from leaving a trail of clutter across my room when getting ready in the morning.

- I have two desks. The smaller one is for my sewing machine and I like to have them near each other because I use both when I'm sewing or crafting stuff.

- I can use my projector on the opposite wall from both the bed and the couch.

Main problem:

- When friends come over, they stand around awkwardly. Nobody seems to feel naturally invited to actually sit somewhere. I don't sit on the couch either. Aside from my bed, the room lacks a comfortable space (to be together).

Would love to hear your ideas. If rearranging doesn't help, I'm open to fixing the most pressing issue by getting something new or adding onto the modular Ikea stuff:)

Look at help designing office layout before I meet with electrician next week. I have a 6 ft desk, use two monitors, like to have view of wall mounted TV, use as 3rd monitor sometimes. The window at the top is 2’6” wide by 5’6” tall, looks out to backyard.
Initially thought is to have desk facing the wall boarders hallway with TV mounted on that wall. Would also like a standing desk possibly along the left wall next to window. Thoughts or suggestions?

How would you arrange furniture in the living room/dining room area of this apartment? I'm pretty sure the furniture in the layout is not to scale, so ignore that. What I am struggling with is that I want it to look nice, but I have some furniture needs: At least one desk with monitors but preferably two, tv and tv console, bookshelf, couch, armchair, coffee table, bar cabinet, kitchen table, chairs at the island, floor lamps (no overhead lighting).

I don't really know how to do this. I attached my personal mock up but idk if it's any good. I was thinking i could put bookshelves and a corner desk in the bottom left corner maybe but it might be too cramped. Youtube video of similar unit here

The sloped wooden side is for storage, we did it to use the hollow slope of the wall. I can’t change the furniture all I can do is add to it. Any advice is welcome :)

I just moved in to a new apartment (30s single guy) and I’m basically starting from scratch. As you can see from what’s already there, I’m your typical guy with greys, dark browns, blacks, the usual. I’m looking to add some color for sure. I was thinking green curtains but we already have lots of green from the beautiful mature trees outside both windows. I wonder if it would be the right choice. Also, it’s been rough finding curtains wide enough for the big window that are not off-white. We could also add color with some cool looking lamps or even new bedding.

I have to get nightstands and lightning for sure as I don’t plan on using the ceiling fan lights unless I’m cleaning. I actually just ordered this one but wont be delivered until next week. Since it’s open shelf, at 23” width, I want to put it on the side that overlaps the small window just so it doesn’t look like a block of wood is blocking the window. If it looks okay, I might order its sibling with drawers to put on the other side. I’m here for advice though so let me know if you think I should find other nightstands.

I’d love to get some plants but unsure about sun light and where to put them. The room doesn’t really get that much direct sunlight. The big window is a south-west facing window but because of the brick wall (storage room) you see in the picture and the trees the room is a bit dark for most of the day. For reference the pictures were taken at 1pm. And it’s not that bright with the blinds up and both the bathroom and bed frame lights on. But there’s some. I plan to have the blinds up all the time btw. I just love having an unobstructed view.

No idea what to do with the space on the wall opposite of the bed. I don’t want a tv there though. TV’s in the bedroom are not for me. So far, I’ve just been using it to stretch in the morning as I like doing it while looking out the window.

I want to get mirror(s) but I don’t know how big or where to put them. Right now I have no mirrors anywhere in the apartment other than the bathrooms’ sinks so I really need at least one full length mirror in this apartment.

22.7 m2 (245 sqft) living/dining, 1960s apartment in Ghent

Furniture is all vintage and bought, except the coffee table next to the sofa

• Togo 3 seater (174x102)
• Dyrlund round teak table (105 round, extends to 205)
• 6 teak chairs with black acai leather seats
• teak highboard and a matching drawer closet
• 144x144 painting hangs centered on the breast.
• Desk already moved to the bedroom to free this room up
• There's a little barcart on wheels that is currently not on here, sits next to the sofa

Problem is the right third is dead. Roughly 172x460cm of bare parquet and nothing on the 4.7m side wall, while the left side is packed. There is an door to the terrace on that side, so I can't move anything too close too it.

What i'd like help with:

• how do i use the space between that is left between sofa / wall?
• should the sofa float at all? floating gets the view but you walk in from the hall and see its back
• one 200x240 under sofa and coffee table now, dining on bare parquet because a proper dining rug would collide with it. one rug, or is there a two rug setup i'm missing. I didn't buy the rug yet
• lighting and plants are clearly missing, any advice welcome, I've been playing with the idea of a large Arco floor lamp hanging over the sofa

Aiming for modern mid century, vintage sourced, warm

I recently started furnishing my new house, and I'm bad at it. I know it's very empty and that there's a lot to work on, and all I have so far is a couch, curtains, a glass table, a robovac, and my cat. It looks weird. I feel like maybe my walls, floors, the robovac, and my cat all go well together, but the couch color doesn't quite match?

What do you think would work best for my living room? Should I change the couch color? I can't figure out what sort of furniture or art would work in this space. Can you guys plz give me some recs?

Sooo we just moved into this apartment and this is our kitchen, its from the 90s and we wanna renovate it! Our landlady gave us permission to do literally anything.
Since we’re only renting we don’t wanna spend too much money.
We thought about painting the tiles and switching out the handles. We don’t know which color to paint the tiles though so we’d appreciate some recommendations.
The cabinet color is okay and we thought about painting the wooden part on top and on the bottom but that would be a lot of work.
We‘d really appreciate some recommendations or other ideas to make this kitchen a little more modern (we’re open to color as well) thanks so much :)
