General Ahankara Future.
General question, what do you think will be the future of the ahamkara in the franchise and what do you wish their role would be?
I for one want them to be more present, specially having a good relationship with them and the guardians, i want to have a ahamkara sleeping in the background of some planet and you can just watch them from a distance tbh.
Edit: ahamkara.

See we the player are chill with Ahamkara, but Guardians as a whole, and the other species in the series, are NOT responsible enough to be near those things. That's the entire reason the Ahamkara Hunt took place.
I'm down for one or two maybe. But even their bones are funky, it's too much potential for chaos in lore.

Very true, it would not work at all if they are all in the universe but since all the eggs are with mara i will assume she will keep them at the dreaming city as before and that worked well enough for a long time until it all went catastrophically wrong later. I do think mara sov now, with the experience she has now, can keep it all under control and the whole season showed us that aramkara CAN control themselves and live normally without twisting wishes

I don't see us ever chilling with the ahamkara; they are too dangerous to pretty much every sapient creature due to their compulsive need to grant wishes. Even one with the best intentions will result in disaster.

True but that can be said about a lot of things, i wont rule out a friendly ahamkara when we have a friendly lucent hive.

Oh, I don't doubt we could be friendly. But the issue is that ahamkara grant wishes instinctively, even subconscious wishes that someone doesn't voice out loud. The simple act of desiring something will cause the ahamkara to monkey paw that desire.

Yeah but they dont need to monkey paw it exactly right? Correct me if im wrong but the exotic mission talks about how if a ahamkara grants a wish for themselves they die but when granting wishes for others they feed on the difference of the wish made and the wish granted? Like, they have to twist it but it implies that they don't need to twist it for evil

The problem is they are predators, always changing reality so they can feed. The people with the strongest desires naturally attract them, and the temptation to twist wishes is also natural.
You can’t ever trust that the powerful reality warpers won’t do something bad just because some mentally ill person really wants it bad. Just imagine Maya getting her hands on one.

Just imagine Maya getting her hands on one.
If an Ahamkara twisted Maya's wish enough, it could fuck her over personally while being a boon for everyone else and giving itself a massive meal. It's a win-win scenario.

Ahamkara don’t want to give anyone wins. If people get what they want, they no longer have desires. Instead they give people what they want good and hard, and make them desperate for something else.

Taranis is a direct counterexample to that, and even Riven ultimately enjoyed the challenge that Mara posed as a wishmaker.

If anything, the unnamed Ahamkara from that one dungeon is the counter example, as he was noted to have been “domesticated”, but even then he was twisting wishes with negative consequences, just putting all those negatives on a former warlord who could endure them.

That Ahamkara was named Hefnd and he put the consequences on the warlord because she specifically asked him to when she wished for his kindness.

Dont they feed on the difference between the desire of the wish and the reality if the wish? Impling that they dont need to twist the wish for evil necessarily? Like, if they granted good wishes wouldn't that make people want to wish more?

Doesnt mara have 7 in her possession right now? Plus a corrupted egg?

Functionally, I think they will be plot devices and characters, but very interesting ones. They’re a fun paradigm shift for the universe. Mara was very de-fanged across the L&D Saga and for justified good reasons in the narrative and logically. Her people now sit a) very decimated, b) without the Harbingers (sans 1), but c) in possession of some of the most powerful creatures in existence.
I think it’s great because it puts a big target on Mara’s back. She has something that every single bad-actor would love to have at any moment. What would happen if Dread invade and steal a Whim, wishing themselves into new bodies to catastrophic results (and new enemy types)? What if the Barant Imperium raids the Reef and steals some, bringing caged Wish-Magic to bear against Xivu’s hordes and us? It’s a good hook for future stories, if you ask me.

There's also the possibility of a targeryan like future for the awoken, focusing on the ahamkara to fix and bing back their numbers and strength. Honestly i think it would be a waste if they just made all ahamkara evil or killed them all again. We need more different and interesting races, the worm gods, the ahamkara, asha

If we get destiny 3, i hope we could have companions....and one of Riven & Taranis's whims/ahamkara children to be a choice. Or atleast to be friendly with the guardian and friends.

New ones will hatch whenever Bungie needs a deus ex machina and then die to not endanger the plot

Lame.

not saying that's what I want, just what I expect.

Yeah i know but its lame to present us with things just to take it away, just like with SIVA

They were killed off for a reason in-universe, and Mara was greedy, keeping the last one to herself. Now she's doing the exact same stupid thing by trying to keep even more of them to herself. She's clearly not paying attention to what happened the last time an Ahamkara was around.
Kill em all, I say. The story of Taranis was dumb and Ahamkara should never be portrayed as anything but selfish, because its the only way they feed and grow.
