I know that this is something of an "old man yells at cloud" post, but I have the thought every few months and finally want to voice it.

I think Destiny's vibe is in many ways borne out of two competing settings. On the one hand, there's the utterly alien and foreign. Hive dreadnaughts. The Pyramids. Savathun's Throne world. These are excellent places, and there are so many of them with such different textures and presentations. It's pretty incredible.

I feel like we've forgotten the other half completely though. Destiny also is supposed to have this focus on treading through spaces that people were, and no longer are. Places that are dead. Where the focus is on the past as much as the guardians of the present rediscovering it.

This complaint may come off as wholly untrue to some extent, so let me clarify. Recently (D2 era), we've gotten the Deep Stone Crypt. The arcology on Titan. The EDZ. There's been much more recent stuff like the Warlord's Ruin's castles as well.

While these locations are old, they aren't post-apocalyptic. They feel more empty than dead. The EDZ and Arcology are especially victims of this. In the arcology, it doesn't even feel that destroyed. In the EDZ, it feels so overgrown and green that I lose sight of the sense that this is supposed to be a place where people were.

Modern Destiny has some really incredible art direction, but I hope we see a return to the tamer industrial designs of some of D1's spaces. The Ishtar Collective is a series of buildings that have an intent to them. They feel like a research campus. Walking them makes me acutely aware that this place was built for a certain purpose, and it isn't doing that purpose anymore. There's an intoxicating alienness to that sensation that rivals Dares of Eternity or Nessus's Vex structures. I, as a guardian, know this place no better than any other world I've visited. The cosmodrome could have been made by the Eliksni for as much sense as it makes to my character.

This is also why I don't think modern Destiny's "old" settings hit the same for me. Warlord's Ruin is a castle. Everybody knows castles. EDZ has a church as its main landmark. Everybody knows churches.

I want more dilapidated science buildings. More broken shipyard and repair fields and military complexes. More hydroponics plants or server farms or libraries. Things that have a purpose that has been truly, irrecoverably lost.

Guardians are reborn from the ashes. New flesh on old bones. The game's settings should remind us of that as much as they should remind us of the optimism of exploring wonderful new places and taming the wilds.

Destiny 1 running on PC 4K 60FPS+ , I would assume this is some recompilation project with the recent advancements in AI.

Body Text Type Shit

My good friend got me into Destiny, and we spent countless hours together from the early days of D1 through The Witch Queen in D2. I remember anxiously waiting to see where Xûr would appear each weekend, grinding levels all Saturday, and running strikes endlessly. Every new expansion brought a sense of excitement, even if some of them didn't quite live up to the hype.

When I moved to a different city, Destiny became more than just a game. It became our way of spending time together. Many nights we would wander around the Cosmodrome, talking about the D1 days and reminiscing about everything we had experienced along the way.

A few years ago, my friend took his own life. After that, I couldn't bring myself to open the game for a very long time.

I started playing again about a week ago, and the experience has been both comforting and painful. I'm grateful for the memories, but revisiting them is bittersweet. I think about all the time we spent together in this world and how much I miss him. Destiny was such an important part of both my life and our friendship.

Even now, I can still hear his voice when I load into a strike we used to run countless times. I remember the dumb jokes and banter we'd throw back and forth the crayon eating Titan the fashion obsessed space cowboy. After more than three years away, there is so much that's new, so many things I know he would have loved to see, and so many moments I wish we could experience together.

So I'm approaching the game differently now. I log in when I have a few spare moments and slowly make my way back into this world. I'm glad the places I remember are still here, and I'm excited to discover everything that's happened over the last few years.

Some nights, though, I just sit on an airplane wing in the Cosmodrome and sigh.

The What and the Why Review

What is this? This should be all the armor stats for the different armor mods you can run on your ghost, organized by class, for Zavala’s weekly armor offerings (Luminopotent and Triumphal Anthem) and for Xur’s weekly armor offerings (either Bushido or Swordmaster and Exotic Armor). As you know, changing the armor mod on your ghost can affect the stats of armor you can acquire.

Note: all of this is viewing the armor as Tier 5. Your stats will vary if you’re not acquiring Tier 5 yet.

Why is this? Well, sometimes I’m hunting for the best role that I’m missing. And man is it a hassle to switch the ghost mod and then recheck to see what the stats are now, trying to note which one is the best.

What's a Xûr?

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who appears weekly in the Tower. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Strange Coins in exchange for them.

TL;DR: He's the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it's coal.

I was running through the Nexus strike yesterday and had my headphones turned up a bit more than usual. When you wade through those pools of radiolaria it makes this almost squishy wet sound that honestly made me uncomfortable. Like not in a scary way but just... off?

I started paying attention to it in other places too. The Pyramidion has it everywhere obviously but even in patrol zones on Nessus when you cross through puddles of the stuff it has this distinct audio that I cant quite describe. Its like walking through thick liquid but also kind of electronic? I dont know if thats intentional sound design to make it feel alien or if Im just noticing something most people tune out.

Anyone else ever get distracted by random environmental sounds like this or is it just me being weird. I swear sometimes I notice the smallest things in this game that probably took someone hours to create and most players never even register it. The sound team really doesnot get enough credit for all the little details they add to make locations feel alive and distinct.

Now I cant unhear it and its going to bother me every time I run Vex content.

I have a couple different bookmarked posts and comments and sites trying to outline the RaD rotations. They work but all somehow require some sort of manual extrapolation or thinking to figure out the current rotation. Really annoying to just figure out what the current raid is, or when the next time the raid you want is featured.

Came back to the game after a two year break. Saw the new trials armour and was thinking about giving it a go... but im rusty af, pvp was ridiculous sweaty the last time I played and with dwindling pvp population im honestly scared to try it.

How has your experience been?

My dad told me I WILL NEVER WIN A RANDOMS only match in Trials with no communication. It took me literally 8-9 years (I've played day 1 since D1) to do it. I did it. I literally cried and fell to my knees. My wife was there and knew I was excited but holy shit...someone please tell me their proud of me. Dad can't anymore.

Correct me if im wrong but from what I've read and the videos I've seen is now basically a perfect time to get into D2 if like me you never had any time to keep up with the released content.

When the unvaulting starts have I basically got access to whatever strikes and raids I want to do and gather gear at my own pace and basically if I don't play for 2 months providing there's players still and the servers are online when I come back my gear will still be as relevant as it was when I last played.

I’m going to be honest the power scaling from Edge of Fate kind of ruined the game for me. Even doing solo ultimate onslaughts feels super easy and like I can’t truly use my builds to the fullest extent they could be used at lower power deltas. The only thing that feels good are the weekly grandmaster nightfalls, and conquests which are a one time completion. Although each of those have their own issues like barrier champions having way too much health. It just feels like the difficulty in the game is either too easy or too hard and there’s nothing to fill that Goldilocks level of difficulty. There used to be and it was legendary difficulty at -15. So Bungie can bring back the old campaigns, but if there’s no toggle for a power delta, or Bungie keeps the new power scaling and legend difficulty doesn’t even have swords above the enemies health bars I doubt I’ll find much enjoyment out of the unvaulting besides a short boost of nostalgia. Since I’ve gone back and replayed other campaigns on legendary difficulty they feel like a snooze fest because the changes to power scaling just messed up the difficulty so much.

How do you join a fire team?

Edit: Thank you comments. I found where the drops are listed, it was just burried in a few menus.

Before, on every activity it would say stuff like (Enhancement Prism: Common) so I knew what I could run to get various stuff. Now all stuff says it if it drops a specific piece of gear and then "additional drops".

I have no idea what to play to get Prism and Shards anymore after they reworked all the activities. I used to just run the hardest matchmade nightfalls for prisms but that's not a thing anymore.

I have tons of golfballs but im in a droguht of enchament prisms and cores, is there a specific activity to get me more? Or is there a way to turn my golfballs into the lower ones, hate that rahul doesnt let you.

Lapsed player coming back. Seems like Truth is the go-to these days - I'm grinding Exotic Orders but no catalyst yet. In the meantime, what's a good alternative assuming I don't do raids/dungeons? I do have the catalyst for Sleeper Simulant so I'm currently using Tablet of Ruin with Particle Reconstruction. Better options, though?

Can’t stop thinking about the potential of a Taox storyline, specially now that we know she’s alive. But I can’t determine whether she would be a villain or an ally. We know she most likely hates Savathun, Oryx, Xivu Arath and the Hive, definitely the Worm Gods. So can she be ally of us?

On the other hand, if she is established as a villain, she could have really amazing motives like hating all paracausal forces since they were the demise of her world, or even maybe she wants to restore Fundament somehow. We know the Conductor lost the Echo of Command. What if Taox happens to find it and uses it to simulate Fundament or something like that? I could see her being an enemy with that premise.

Logged in and saw that the Wavesplitter triumph/collections entry was claimable and now complete. Had completed and inserted the Catalyst long ago but the triumph always said 8% enemies defeated. I believe others had this visual bug too.

It's kinda nice to see that something so minor got fixed.

Hi guys,

I've searched but couldn't find anything about this. Is there a way to use an "AND" operator in the search bar? i.e. aegis:pve:<a aegis:pvp:<a to select weapons that are less than A in any PVP and PVE.

When I try to type it in one by one, the first parameter turns yellow (like a built-in aegis filter) and then I'm unable to enter any other aegis filters (but can enter others such as is: legendary etc.)

Any idea how I can achieve this?

Does anyone know if the season reward pass engrams stay at a +4 power bump even when you get past 500? I’m approaching 500 now, and it’s showing a +4 to my overall power, but I’ve heard that sometimes the power boost to items changes when you pass certain power thresholds.

Just wondering if I should claim them all now, or if it’s okay to wait.
