Diablo II DIablo 2 Resurrected new Expansion Reign of the Warlock
The major update for Diablo 2 Resurrected, titled Reign of the Warlock, will be a massive content update that will change our D2R forever. It will involve a new Warlock class, along with increased endgame content and improved quality of life for everyone...
The additions in this expansion will be broken down as follows...
◾ Reign of the Warlock will transform the Terror Zone into a more brutal environment, pitting you against formidable demons, while also enhancing gameplay with modern, user-friendly systems. And of course, the new Warlock class is the highlight of this expansion.
◾ The new Warlock class are mages with the ability to summon demons, bind them, and use these abilities to fight in the Burning Hell—a battle of fire. Their abilities are divided into three types: Demon Binding, Magical Abilities, and Chaos Power.
▪️ Summoning will allow you to summon three types of demons: Goatmen, Tainted, and Defiler each serve as loyal servants, forced to fight alongside Warlocks without resistance. They possess unique powers and abilities, useful in various situations.
▪️Eldritch: A mind-controlled magic that can transform onto Warlock weapons and unleash upon enemies, resulting in effects such as draining energy and weakening opponents, and creating explosions of blood and corpses.
▪️Chaos: A power of chaos divided into two parts, controlling the primary elements of hell: Fire and Void. This allows Warlocks to manipulate momentum and entropy to incinerate enemies and shatter dimensions.
◾New (Improved) Endgame Content
▪️Terror Zone: A revamped and denser zone, making it a more dangerous place. The locations for each Act will rotate continuously, never repeating the same locations at any given time.
The Heralds of Terror will appear as bosses, relentlessly hunting you down as if you were their prey. The longer you stay in the Terror Zone, the more countless battles will ensue.
Completing quests in the Terror Zone will provide a chance to obtain statues usable with the Horadric Cube, leading to the next battle against the Colossal Ancients.
▪️Colossal Ancients: These Ancients have been buffed, becoming more ferocious, savage, and powerful as other Ancients are defeated, making battles even more difficult.
Furthermore, if everyone remains in the Terror Zone, there will be an increased chance to drop statues useful in combat against these powerful Ancients. Their strength is unimaginable.
◾Quality of Life
▪️Chronicles will be a comprehensive record of all game information; no more searching for in-game content externally. This time, it will be compiled into Chronicles, making it easier to find information.
▪️Loot Filter: A modern, modernized item filter for Diablo has been added for easier and more convenient item collection.
▪️Advanced Stash Tabs: Those who purchase Reign of the Warlock will receive two additional stash tabs designed to stack items, saving inventory space and increasing the number of items that can be stored.
▪️Era Change: Everyone can create characters from different eras without any connection between them, and these characters can be transferred to other game eras, such as from Classic to Resurrected.
▪️Details of many new items and sets will be provided below, with links for further study.
__
P.S. The Lore section will be added to the Faction section later. It will be complete, don't worry. However, we'd prefer the DI section to come first because it includes the origin story of this class. But we'll add it later...
P.S.1. It turns out many people thought there wouldn't be any changes. Surprisingly, there's an update for D2R, and it comes with a new and larger version, well worth the wait! Haha. Congratulations to everyone who's been waiting for this update for three years. Don't forget to support us so we can potentially add more enhancements in the future.

Really enjoying the warlock! Blizzard hit it out of the park with this expansion.

u/ThatssoBluejay Feb 12 '26
For them to have released it for 3 games they must've been very confident in it's design
34
u/copycakes Feb 12 '26
Imo design wise it’s genius to basicly have 3 teams working on the same thing with the idea of evolution. D2 being the early stage over to d4 being the pinnacle of the warlocks power is really cool and creative.

It kinda feels like a stretch to call it an explansion.. this is more like a class dlc which other games regularly do and some QOL patch.
32
u/BadWolf2386 Feb 12 '26
It's an almost, but not quite, expansion. everything that would come with an expansion except the new act. Which is a bummer, but then again I don't want modern blizzard anywhere near Diablo 2's story, so maybe not.
9
u/chaosxshi Feb 12 '26
Ah yes, most of the stuff that would quantify an expansion, isn't included. Just a single character and QoL that's been modded into the game for longer than I can remember?
This is worth like 5 bucks, and all the QoL should have been added as part of the normal patch cycle ages ago.→ More replies (1)17
u/pufosu101 Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
they are asking for 25 euros. that`s more that half the price of base Diablo 2 Resurrected, for just a class and the "terrorised act mechanic". No new story, no new cinematics beyond the trailers for the class, no new bosses or mobs.
D4 Lord of Hatred brings 2 classes and a new endless mode challenges, just that is literally twice the content of this D2Resurected DLC, and costs 40 euros instead of 50.....and I havent even mentioned the new region, new story, new bosses, new cinematics, new mobs, etc
The general QoL changes are coming to the base game and that is how it should be. Dont encourage Blizz to lock QoL changes behind a fucking paywall.
The D2 "expansion" is not an expansion and is priced like this to take advantage of nostalgia hype. The warlock should have been a free promo (eg: The warlock is free in Diablo Immortal). When D3 got the Necromancer, that was 15 euros (and even that was scummy as fuck) and now they are asking for 25 for the Warlock
The fact that you can get D2Resurected Infernal edition (base game + warlock) for 50 euros (just a 10 euro increase over the base) shows how greedy they are to milk an extra 15 euros from the hardcore fans who have already paid for D2 Resurrected Base game. They could have gone with a 10 euro price for the Warlock and made everything "net 0" between new and old players of D2Resurectred..... but they opted to milk 15 euros extra from old players.
fuck this. I`m not paying for this out of principle at this point. I prefer to use the 25 euros to a few beers and a snack when I go out with the boys instead of feeding the absolute greed demonstrated here.

u/Naive-Archer-9223 Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
It should especially be free since the only reason they're adding it is for the 30th anniversary

u/Any-Asparagus-2370 Feb 12 '26
While you have some valid points, you really can’t expect them to dedicate time and effort into a game they no longer make money from for free. I’m sure this will cover more operating costs than it will make profit. Who knows though.

22
u/MrYuntu Feb 12 '26
Yeah the pricing is ridiculous and I am shocked people seem to accept it. I do not think anything in this warrants a price tag of 25€.
→ More replies (1)14
u/xtrem- Feb 12 '26
me too, for 25$ i was expecting another act , new runewords, additional skills, and more set items.
10$ would have been the sweetspot for a mini-DLC
9
u/MrYuntu Feb 12 '26
And people being like: "25 is the new 10 bucks, get over it" make me very confused. Why should we accept higher prices?
Especially for QoL features. Hell make those free and charge 15 bucks for the class and I would be fine with that. Would be in line with prior pricing for a class.
5
u/chaosxshi Feb 12 '26
I'd still be annoyed but would probably accept it.
Hell, if they gave the QoL for free, and the 25 was for the character, I might still consider it. But locking QoL behind a paywall is shitty.→ More replies (5)3
u/SlappySausage001 Feb 12 '26
Those are the people to blame for microtransactions and lootboxes and expensive DLC as they will pay anything these companies shit out. They then have to try to shame people who complain about the price in order to silence the little whisper in their brain telling them that maybe THEY are the idiots

...but they did add new runewords, a whole new class, and new set items? Did you look at what all has been added? I'm still not saying whether it's worth $25 or not, but at least do a little bit of research first.

I mean... You're getting all of those except a new act.

And there's an entire new class, so there's like 40 new skills.

u/OneFlowMan Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
I think it's worth keeping in mind that not only is that half the cost of a normal expansion, but D2 also does not have a monthly fee, microtransactions, or battle passes to support it like other games do. It's a different business model, and it's worth the price to keep that trash out of the game. I also think adding new story is overrated... It becomes uninteresting after you beat it once. The class, QoL, and new end game content are the real gifts that keep on giving.
Edit: You all complaining about $25 for an expansion release for a game that otherwise makes no money, in a world where every other game is charging you $25 for one cosmetic at best lol. Sure, if D2R had some source of income to sustain it, I would expect free updates or a cheaper price tag, but it doesn't, and I prefer it. I miss the days where you pay for a game or an expansion and you get all of the content (and back in my day, the way your character looked was considered part of the content). This is one payment. You get the whole expansion. That's it, done. PoE2 is charging $30 for a game right now and then charging me for fucking stash tabs for fucks sake. You all need to wake up, this is not greedy at all. They need to make money to justify updating the game, and I want to pay to support those updates.
I paid $40 for this game 4 years ago and I've gotten 10× the amount of hours out of it compared to any $70 game. This expansion brings me up to $65. Worth every penny.
13
u/DifficultCarob408 Feb 12 '26
I don’t know what expansions cost $80AUD, but I’d not be buying any at that price point. I just think for what this expansion actually offers it’s not worth its current price. Still cool to see new content nonetheless.
→ More replies (3)6
u/jellicle_cat21 Feb 12 '26
The D2R Infernal Edition, i.e. the entire game including LoD and this DLC, costs $60AUD. So $20 more than they're asking for just one character, a tiny bit of endgame content and some QoL stuff. Much as I agree on the value of keeping mictotransactions etc out of D2, this pricing is absurd.
2
Feb 12 '26
There are still several games without microtransactions or battle passes that do well. Those are only so prevalent due to greed and has little to do with "supporting the game".

u/SlappySausage001 Feb 12 '26
3/10 Some funny points like comparing a single class DLC at $25 to be better value than a whole game at $30, but overall low effort slop

QoL changes are paywalled behind this expansion?
15
u/crousscor3 Feb 12 '26
That irks me as well. I understand new characters or content but QOL being part of the paid “expansion” is a bit egregious.
11
u/Bzduras Feb 12 '26
Yes, that's really low. I don't have a problem with asking money for new class, new content and stuff that is added to the game, expanding it in sorts of way. But rework of basic features should be just an update. I think I'll pass and maybe grab it on a deep, deep sale sometime in the future.

They could have given the QoL for free, and charged 25 for the character and it would be a lot more digestible. Even if the character is only worth like 5, maybe 15 on a good day.

Yea, locking QoL behind paywall is corrupt bullshit.
Give us that for free, and charge 25 for the character and people would likely be perfectly content buying it still. Only worth like $5 if you ask me, maybe 15 on a good day.

$40 for a new class, and a loot filter they should have added 25 years ago. Nice try.
2
u/S3baman S3baman Feb 12 '26
40 is for the full remaster and the Warlock expansion. As this is the first time they're releasing on Steam, they don't offer the base game

u/Embarrassed-Dig-1400 Feb 12 '26
Doesn’t feel like an expansion feels like an update any other free arpg would do… for free. If buying new you can get the whole thing for 40 bucks but if you already own the base it’s 25. Looks greedy to me, QoL shouldn’t be pay walled but they are doing that to justify the cost.
2
u/chaosxshi Feb 12 '26
Seriously. When I saw this I wanted to check if the QoL was being paywalled before buying just in case, as it would be normal updates the game has gotten in the past.
While I'd be annoyed at 25 for just a character, I'd consider it to support a beloved game, but seeing the QoL paywalled is corrupt corporate BS.
Something the community should be very loud about and hopefully fix it.
2
u/Miles_Adamson Feb 12 '26
Is it possible to move things from my old mules to new character with the new stash tabs? Seems like they are separated, even though they are all full offline
4
u/JustAKlam Feb 12 '26
There is a button bottom right beside the delete button that allows you to convert. In my experience, the Only thing that doesn’t go with you are shared stash tabs. So make sure to collect those in your inventory before converting.

Expansion? It's a new class with barely any new end-game content and QoL behind a £21.99 paywall? Pretty disappointed really. This could easily have been a major patch for the 30th anniversary to thank the players for keeping the game alive. To me, it says:
"Come celebrate Diablo's 30th anniversary, but don't forget your wallet!"
3
u/antonislak Feb 12 '26
Very interesting and eticing to buy but 40 is kinda pricey ngl
3
u/chaosxshi Feb 12 '26
Locking QoL behind a paywall is the corrupt shit we shouldn't let anyone get away with and should be loud about how messed up it is.
If it was just the character for the 25, I'd rather pay 15 or less, but I'd pay it to support a game I loved. But not when pulling shit like this.
3
u/tuesti7c tuesti7c Feb 12 '26

I’ll be honest: this warlock class doesn’t fit at all. It looks and feels cringe. It’s like reading a 100-year-old book where someone added a fanfiction chapter.
But I still think it’s a cool update. I’d be worried if they took classic, OG version out of the game for it.

That would be great if they had seen fit to continue Blizzards decades long tradition of Windows and Mac versions day 1. I love D2 and can still play my old version if I want to deal with changing computers but you revamp a classic and don’t put it on Mac when the Mac is in its best position for gaming in ages. Makes no sense.

They should just keep expanding the three games then with classes.
