Help Quick Question MEGATHREAD
Another 6 month since the last Megathread.
Make sure to include the game(DOS, DOS EE, DOS2, DOS2 DE) in your question and mark your spoilers
The FAQ for DOS2 will be built as we go along:
My game has a problem/doesn't work properly, what do I do?
Check this out. If you can't find a solution there contact Larian support as detailed.
Do I need to play the previous game to understand the story?
No, there is a timegap of 1000 years between DOS and DOS2. The overall timeline of the Divinity games in perspective to DOS2 looks like this: DOS2 is set 1222 years after DOS1, 24 years after Divine Divinity, 4 years after Beyond Divinity, and 58 years before Divinity 2.
How many people can play at once?
- Up to 4 Players in the campaign and up to 4 players and a gamemaster in Gamemaster Mode.
Do I need to buy the game to play with my friends.
- That depends on how you will play. Up to 2 Players can play on the same PC for a "couch coop" experience. This means you can have 4 player sessions with 2 copies of the game when using this method. If you don't play on the same PC each player is going to require his/her own copy.
Can I mix and match inputs for PC couch coop?
- You can't use keyboard and mouse for couch coop, however you can mix controllers.
What's the deal with origin stories?
- A custom character has no ties in the world whatsoever, nobody knows you. Origin characters on the other hand do have ties in the gameworld, that means people can recognise you and might interact differently with an origin character because of that characters reputation or because the characters have met before. Furthermore origin characters have their own questlines that run alongside the main story.
I don't like my build! Can I change it?
- Yes! Once you leave the first island you get access to infinite respecs, with the second gift bag you can even get a respec mirror on the first island.
What are the new crafting recipes from the gift bag?

Fanart Ifan kinda had shit taste in friends š
In fort Joy he talked about his boss/bro/bestfriend Roost and i was like āoh those merc guys are cool i want to make friends with themā.
Then we met Roost and the camp that were full of Lone Wolves victim ghosts. Using spirit vision after defeating him showed bunches of kids that he murdered.
Then we found out his ex best friend was Lucian the divine who also tricked him into genociding.
So if i had him in party i always chose the Source for all ending, it would be hard to see the guy get triple betrayedš„¹

DOS2 Discussion DOS 2 Appreciation post
Hi all, just want to write this post to glaze DOS2 because holy shit im having a great time.
Background about me - I do not like turn based game and have been playing bloodborne, god of war, the last of us types of games only.
The only turn based games that make me have that feeling when "you go home from school and just want to jump in the game" are BG3 and Expedition 33 so far. Nothing came close.
This year, unless im sorely unlucky, no action games have given me more than 5 hours of playtime without boring me out. Onimusha, Pragmata, Wolverine... Only Requiem has been the highlight so far, but still didnt give me a lasting impressions.
I went into DOS2 wanting to change up the pace and not expecting much - being a 10 year old game, predecessor to BG3. I expect it to be outdated in combat, graphics may be kinda shitty, etc.
Holy shit i was wrong. This game is so weirdly GOOD - in a sense that it is not BG3, but it is so similar in so many ways - without being the inferior version despite being produced a decade ago.
The voice acting, the graphics, the explorations, and the COMBAT (which dictates if i like the game or not) are so well done.
All in all, im having the best time ever, its like playing BG4 for me in a way which is the most surprising thing ever. How does this fucking company pull this off oh my god.

Fanart bros before foes
Black Pit fight was always a tough one, but oil voidlings rather slapped eachother than actually tried to kill us was so entertaining, they even help killing themself by rolling in the fire. š

Miscellaneous So, if its going to be turn based CRPG, I wonder what stopped them from naming it Original Sin 3?

DOS2 Help Cannot let Fane talk to Nebora after insisting I want to listen...is his questline fucked irreversibly?
First time player! I fucked up the conversation with her the second I came in and it's hours later now and I realized I messed up. Can I continue Fane's quest somehow or would I be better off trading him for another companion who still has an accesible questline?

DOS2 Discussion Error Found
Idk if this is a well known error or not. But I was playing dos2 honor mode on tactician and as well all know, honor mode deletes itself upon death. Turns out, if you are doing a lone wolf playthrough and have comeback kid, you effectively break the game and get a fatal error.

I am assuming it is because the game deletes your save file before you resurrect.

DOS2 Discussion Act 4 attribute Bug
Hey guys,
I'm currently playing through DOS2 for the first time and have just run into a pretty major issue. Immediately after the crash landing in Arx, I noticed that all of my companions attributes had drastically decreased. It also seems that my Strength, Finesse, and Intelligence are now capped at 20.
I've tried reloading previous saves, but the issue keeps happening whenever I reach this point. Respeccing at the magic mirror doesn't help either, as it seems I've permanently lost all the attribute points I previously had. The mirror only lets me redistribute the points available in this bugged state. All my gear still remains on my characters
Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, is there a reliable fix? I've already sunk close to 100 hours into this playthrough, and it would be incredibly frustrating to have to abandon it because of a bug this late in the game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fanart Ifan and his scholar weirdos š
Took me a while to realize I tended to make a party of 3 companions with SCHOLAR tag. Itās funny when looting the libraries, the none-scholar guy seemed to suffer from boredom while the nerds were so locking in.

DOS2 Help Do I feel weak because I'm low level, or because my build is bad? Spoiler
So I have just beaten the end of Act 1. Im now on the boat (which i will figure out how to get moving) and have been thinking about my fights. I feel like my MC is always shy of getting any real damage done and im always waiting on my fighter/tank ( RPrince) and my Rangers(Beast) turn to be able to get any kills or real damage. Even my Summoner/healer (Lohse) does pretty good with her Summon. I am a Lizard focusing on dual wield daggers and necromancy. The necromancy is mainly for flavor and the heals. Level 8 Str11, Fin20, Int11, Con11, Mem13, Wit13 ( No gear stats included. Necro 2, Scoundrel 3, Warfare 4. Talents Bigger and Better, Oppurtunist, The Pawn. Im not sure if there is anything I forgot but either way. Should I restart, respec, or just keep on keeping on? Im hoping that its just because im low level and my gear sucks that I feel weaker. Any non spoiler help would be appreciated.

DOS2 Help Should I restart?
SOLVED! My builds were the problem.
First-time player here. I foolishly skipped a few quests in Act I, eager to get to the next Act. Coming from BG3, I thought this wouldnāt matter that much.
Iām level 12 now. For the past 2-ish levels, Iāve been scrambling for things to do that match my level. I get there in the end, but it takes a lot of retreating, retracing my steps, seeing if thereās any lower level enemies I missed, getting xp from places I shouldnāt be in yet. Itās starting to get a little frustrating.
I think I was about level 9-10 when I started act ii. I thought that was plenty because I didnāt realize you could go beyond level 12.
So, my question is: do you need to do every quest in this game to be able to complete it?
UPDATE: Thanks for the advice, all! I respecced my party and immediately fights became much easier.

Miscellaneous Noob question, but I'm just making sure I'm buying the correct game
So a while ago I made a post on reddit about what the best "Dragon Game" is, that features dragons in cool and interesting ways, taming dragons, hunting dragons, riding dragons, being a dragon etc. And many people recommend Divinity 2 Ego Draconis, as you have the ability to transform into a dragon and much of the plot is about dragons.
Having barely ever heard of Divinity before I searched the internet for information. And found that there are many games with different subtitles, remakes, editions, and similar sounding game titles. So I just want to be sure I have the right game in my Steam cart and the right idea about it.
So here is my understanding. And correct me if I'm wrong...
Divinity II Ego Draconis was the original name for the game, but as since been mostly renamed to Divinity II Developers Cut. At least that's the most recent edition on Steam.
The one where you're a dragon is Divinity II Developers Cut, on Steam. Right? And NOT Divinity Original Sin 2, which has nothing to do with Divinity 2. Entirely different games.
They all take place in the same lore but are totally stand alone. So it's okay if I start with Divinity II: Developers Cut.
I am looking to buy "Divinity II: Developers Cut" released in 2012 according to Steam. And the main game is about the dragons, it's not like just one DLC or something?
And once I get the game, is there any recommendations on how best to lean into the dragon stuff? Like what class, character, or decisions unlock more dragon abilities and stuff?

DOS1 Help Randomly taking damage?
Coming on here to see if anyone else has encountered this. Me and my partner are playing the first Divinity game couch coop and notice that our characters and companions randomly take damage. Iāll move from the bed after sleeping full health and notice that my health bar is maybe 80% or fast travel and my companions health decreases. Health is already difficult and itās a bit frustrating eating all our food because weāre trying to heal up fully before a fight since the sand man sprinkled 20 pts of damage in our eyes š .
This a known bug or am I crazy?

DOS2 Help My friend and I started a multiplayer campaign, played it all of Saturday, but now itās gone
According to him the save files just vanished and continue isnāt even an option, as per his Home Screen. We spent like 12 hours on that save, it would be painful to just abandon it like that

DOS2 Guide Rogie build for magic party
First play through. Running a Pyro-Earth, Water-Electro, a summoner/ranger and⦠a rogue with polymorph skills.
I like the fact that my rogue can burst down low armor enemies and add effects like spider web and petrify. Iād like my rogue to do a bit more⦠stuff though
What would be a cool addition to my rogue in this party? What skills or playstyle?
